  • New twist on the DADT policy

    Sniper sent me this story about Bethany Smith (aka Skyler James). It seems Ms. Smith, or Mr. James, was stationed at Fort Campbell a few years back when she was spotted in a local mall holding hands with another woman. Smith tells this story to the Canadian Broadcast Corporation;

    “I had to endure not only verbal and physical harassment, but death threats and harassment letters on my door every day,” Smith told reporters Tuesday outside the court. Following the hearing, she said she was staying positive and hoping for the best.

    Smith, who now lives in Ottawa, said she was treated as “less than human” by other soldiers at the base in Fort Campbell, Ky., after they saw her holding hands with another woman at a local mall and found out she was a lesbian. One soldier who worked with her on the base’s fleet of vehicles would pick her up, shake her and throw her to the ground on a daily basis, she told CBC News.

    “There were sergeants standing around laughing with him,” she added.

    I find that REAL hard to believe – sergeants laughing at one soldier manhandling another? I’ve known some shitbags before, but none that would do that. No matter what their respective sexual orientation.

    Fearing for her life, she asked her first sergeant for a discharge, which is usually granted automatically to soldiers who admit to homosexuality.

    “He told me straight up, ‘We’ll figure out the paperwork when we get back from deployment,” she recalled. At the time, Smith was scheduled to be sent to Afghanistan.

    So, she went to Canada instead. Now the Canadians have refused her refugee status and she’s working her way through the courts. These deserters tend towards hyperbole in their defense in foreign courts. Andre Shepherd tells the Germans he’ll be put to death if he returns, and Ms. Smith/Mr. James claims she/he will be tortured by her peers.

    I’ll tell you, I have lesbian tendencies, too, and I’ve never been persecuted for them.

    Usually, gays are complaining that they’re getting tossed out of the military because of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, and this one complains that she wasn’t tossed out. Can you guys tell us when we’re supposed to throw you out and when we have to let you stay – the rest of us are confused.

    In related news, 1stCavRVN sent me a link to a Free Republic discussion about new legislation the Canadian Liberals are trying to get through the legislature that would make Canada a safe haven for US deserters.

    The bill, introduced by the Liberal Party’s Gerard Kennedy, would allow other countries’ military deserters to stay in Canada if their refusal to serve is based on sincere moral, political or religious objections.

    Parliament has already voted twice to support war resisters, but those were non-binding motions.

    Kennedy’s bill would be binding because it would amend the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

    Well, it doesn’t say US deserters, but unless the Russians have a deserter problem, or the North Pole, who else would desert to Canada? In my opinion, they should keep them. Who cares? All of the resisters who’ve fled to Canada were dirt bags anyway. Let the Canadian tax payers support that fat-ass baby-factory Kimberly Rivera and her lay-about husband and dumbass Corey Glass who absconded to Canada and the Army isn’t even looking for him.

    If Canadians are willing to support those scroungy dirt balls, let ’em.

  • Another birther officer slapped down in court

    Orly Taitz, DDS Esq. is doing her best to surpass James Branum‘s record in court. Ohio judge Clay Land put Ms. DDS Esq. on notice for her antics in court, according to the Ledger-Enquirer;

    Land also put attorney Orly Taitz, who represents Capt. Connie Rhodes and is a leader in the national “birther” movement, on notice by stating that she could face sanctions if she ever again files in his court a similar “frivolous” lawsuit — a document that at one point the judge states that a middle school student could find irony in.

    “(Rhodes) has presented no credible evidence and has made no reliable factual allegations to support her unsubstantiated, conclusory allegations and conjecture that President Obama is ineligible to serve as president of the United States,” Land states in his order. “Instead, she uses her complaint as a platform for spouting political rhetoric, such as her claims that the president is ‘an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, [and] an unqualified imposter.’”

    Yeah, this is the second Army officer to get involved in Orly Taitz’ antics – the first being Major Stefan Cook. Of course the judge didn’t just Rhodes off with a warning;

    Land ordered that the defendants — who include Obama, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Col. Thomas MacDonald, Fort Benning garrison commander — will recover any costs from the complaint from Rhodes.

    Rhodes wasn’t being deployed, she just finished medical school that we, the tax payers, funded. Just like Branum is using soldiers at Fort Hood, Orly Taintz is using soldiers to build herself a law career. Proof? She did an interview with Talking Points Memo and she’s willing to watch her client go to jail for Taintz’ antics;

    And if Rhodes is open to continuing the fight, would Taitz go along?

    “Oh absolutely, absolutely,” she said. “Listen, Nelson Mandela stayed in prison for years in order to get to the truth and justice.”

    Sounds just like Branum doesn’t she?

    Other sources say that Taitz was back in court today;

    Attorney Taitz therefore requests the Court to vacate (annul) its Sept. 16th Dismissal against Rhodes, and grant a stay of deployment to Rhodes, pending further hearing of the case.

    Me? I’d just like Army officers to act like Army officers and not allow themselves to be used by fringe cranks.

  • Stolen valor cases

    1stCavRVN11B sent me a .pdf from the Department of Justice in which they announced some of the Stolen Valor cases they are prosecuting;

    According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Rodriguez, who is prosecuting the PIOTROWSKI case, PIOTROWSKI claimed that he was awarded a Silver Star for “gallantry in action during combat operations against hostile forces” in Operation Desert Storm. Specifically, PIOTROWSKI falsely claimed that in 1991 during an Iraqi counterattack, he “exposed himself to direct enemy fire while providing suppressive fires to cover an antitank team, which was maneuvering to destroy an Iraqi T-62 tank.” In fact, as he admitted in his plea of guilty, PIOTROWSKI did not see military action in Operation Desert Storm; he purchased the Silver Star Citation and medal via the Internet. Under false pretenses, PIOTROWSKI was formally recognized for the Silver Star by the Undersecretary for the California Department of Veterans Affairs in a ceremony in December 2007. Sentencing in the case is scheduled for November 30, 2009 before Judge Hollows.

  • Evil doin’s at Fort Hood

    Apparently Fort Hood has become the focus of the anti-war and “soldier resistance” movement. You’ll remember that we wrote about Victor Agosto who was shipped off to the Bell County jail in texas after he refused to deploy with his unit. When he finished his 30 day sentence, he was celebrated as a returning hero by about 50 Leftist clowns according to an article in Socialist Worker;

    On an unusually pleasant 95-degree afternoon at Under the Hood Café, the G.I. café just outside Fort Hood, there was a celebration for a hero, a barbecue and fundraiser, and a rally to continue the fight for the other men, women and families victimized by the war machine and inspired by Victor’s courage.

    Sweet, huh? I wonder how many of Agosto’s fellow soldiers get the same treatment when they return from their deployment – will Victor greet them with the amenities that he got upon his “return”?.

  • Josh Simpson: Live up to the creed, socialismo o muerte!

    The folks at 9/11 Families for America sent a link to an interview of Benji Lewis and Josh Simpson (who I wrote about the other day) conducted by Eva Golinger, a Venezuelan-American lawyer who was nicknamed the “Sweetheart of the Revolution” by Hugo Chavez for her blind and undying support for the Chavezistas. Of course, she supports Chavez’ revolution from the comfort and splendor of her Manhattan apartment and law offices.

    Anyway, Golinger, who also writes for the uber-Left, pro-Chavez website Venezuelanalysis, doesn’t bother to check the background of her interviewees. This is from the bio at the end of the interview;

    Josh Simpson, 27 years old, was a Sargeant [sic] in the US Army Counterintelligence Division. He was in charge of interrogations and source operations in Mosul, Iraq from 2004-2005. His actions resulted indirectly in the deaths of hundreds of Iraquis [sic].

  • IVAW’s Josh Simpson can’t keep his story straight

    Just cruising through my feeds this afternoon, I came across this YouTube video from Venezuelan Television. It’s an interview with IVAW’s Josh Simpson who tells harrowing stories of interrogations while he was a US Army interrogator.

    Keep in mind that this the first of a series of four interviews by VZTV, the government-owned Telesur, attempting to warn Venezuelans that Americans and Colombians are intent on invading Venezuela – I guess because we don’t have enough poor people, so we have to enslave some more. Ed. Note: Although the program portion of this interview is in Spanish, Josh’s answers are in English;

    So I did a little research on Joshua and found that he’d claimed to be an interrogator a few times in the media – like this interview from Dahr Jamail last year;

  • Pretender now works at VetVoice

    In what was probably a difficult search to replace the gaping void at VetVoice left by the passing of Brandon Friedman, the Angry Rakkasan, (known at TAH as Beaker), the lightweights left behind have settled on Matthew Alexander;

    vetvoice

    Mark Alexander wrote a book a while back advocating for treating terrorists in more friendly manner. Taking them to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard, whispering sweet nothings in their mite-infested ears – stuff like that. It was supposedly based on his experiences as an Air Force Officer and interrogator. The only problem is, Matthew Alexander isn’t his name. We don’t know what his name is because he won’t tell us. We can’t verify if he was an Air Force Officer or some homeless guy off the street who had an idea for a book.

    Yeah, yeah, I know his name is supposed to sealed by court order to “protect” him – but you know what? No one in the military is an island.

    Think if Jesse MacBeth had used a fake name and announced it before he went public and told his tales. How would we have been able to bust him? Find people in his unit who could tell us those things never happened. Essentially, that’s what I’ve done (with the help of an anonymous mole).

    Apparently, no one in the Air Force has heard of this goofball or the cases he’s wrote about in his book. And the folks I’m getting this from are folks who would’ve worked with, trained with and known Alexander or whatever his name is today.

    Here’s a quote from my mole;

    One fact “Alexander” gives, in particular, would make him very well known in OSI – he claims to have been a Pave Low pilot prior to entering OSI… um, no. Not to say it couldn’t happen, but it would be VERY rare, and would be much remarked about.

    I did a search of the OSI Agents and couldn’t find a single one with a secondary AFSC of 11 (pilot). First of all – why would you transfer from the one field that is most likely to get you a star to one that is least likely?

    There is ONE OSI General. It’s just not done, you know what I mean?

    And no one has heard of someone with this background. He should have attended the OSI Reserve conventions/whatever they’re called with people I know. They should know who he is. They have no idea. And no one recognizes his picture.

    Uh-oh. The narrative begins to not fit. Good question, though – why would a guy in an organization called the AIR FORCE want to stop being a pilot?

    In his book, Alexander claims that he was in Saudi Arabia in 2003 (can’t place him there, still, and that even narrows things more). He recounts one episode of walking through the Saudi desert with over a million dollars (page 122). OSI NEVER has that much baksheesh cash. NEVER. And he would not have been walking through the desert alone with it. EVER. It didn’t happen.

    The single most important thing about Alexander’s claim to have been the one that “broke” the guy and got the information to find Zarqawi is this: Zarqawi WAS NOT LOCATED DUE TO INTERROGATIONS. Period. This is even mentioned on Wikipedia (even though they have this asshole’s name up there, too). It was a tip.

    What I can tell you about his Huachuca claims, and his other interrogation claims, is this: he claims that his approach of building rapport is new and novel. [redacted] went through Huachuca in 2002 – and that’s what they taught him then. Alexander is taking advantage of the fact that most people have no idea of what goes on there to claim credit for something that he didn’t start.

    So here’s a guy who arrives at the cutting edge of the politics of torture battle with just the right story to tell, as far as the Left is concerned. (And, oh, did I mention that besides working for Vote vets, Alexander works for George Soros?). We can’t check his story, we can’t even check his ID – for no good reason.

    How many faux veterans have told you in a bar that their records are top secret? That’s usually the first thing they begin their stories with – like our Spooky 8 clown.

    Can I be prove he’s lying? Nope…but all I need to do is plant a seed of doubt. You’ll remember that Rick Duncan/Strandlof was a diarist on VoteVets, so I guess this is a way to avoid that mistake again – hide your phony vet writers behind a court order and a name change.

    There may be more to come on this douche, depending on the heat I get from Vote Vets – given their record, they’ll try to ignore this instead. Like they ignored the Rick Duncan story.

  • Bob “Spooky 8” King revisited

    I’m sure you all remember the book I read and reviewed here named “Spooky 8; the final mission” and then I reviewed it’s author, Bob King, and got an email from Bob King. Technically, through all of that, Bob could have said that book was fiction and he was just drawing on his experiences and his imagination to write a novel – so technically, he’s not a phony soldier. Well, one of our readers dug up, in the archives of the local school paper in Wenatchee, WA, an interview from 2002 in which he actually claims to be a Vietnam veteran. Not only that, he claims that his experiences in Vietnam are what shaped his life. We all know from his records that he was a general’s driver in Fort Sill, OK after he dropped out of jump school – that was the extent of his military career. newspaper-art1 I guess now he’s the head janitor at Wenatchee High School. I quote from the article;

    Having been at war, I realize that we are all the same, we all feel the same pain. I’m honest and fair and when I die, people will remember me as an honest man.

    Not here at This Ain’t Hell, Bobbie boy.
