    Arthur James Dicken – Dead Phony SEAL

    Most of you are familiar with AJ Dicken.  He has been posted here at TAH many times.  He assumed room temperature on  December 31.   I guess living with a festering puss filled ego finally rotted him from the inside out.   I get criticism sometimes for speaking ill of the dead … Arthur James Dicken cannot be spoken of in an ill enough manner for my liking.  Dicken did manage to get some classic Shipley attention.

    If anyone wants to write about my life, I will have to be paid more than Dicken was offered for his bullshit story.  Some of my bullshit might actually be true.   At least AJ Dicken had the grace to die before the new year started.   2019 is looking better all the time.

    I visited a lot of gravesites in 2018.  Some I honored … some I pissed on.

    The video below has most of the story.  Don is always at his best when these clowns are at their worst.

    If you are unfamiliar with Don Shipley please take the time to check him out at the link below.  He also has a YouTube channel.

  • Blast From The Past – Shane Kunzeman; phony Army Ranger

    This week’s Blast From the Past “winner” is Shane Kunzeman, phony Army Ranger.

    Shane paraded himself as an Army Ranger, Special Operations, PSYOP, etc. In some of his correspondences, he insisted on the reader’s calling him so that “he can go into more detail”. Why not simply go into more detail in the correspondence?

    Well, as you can see below, things can get screen captured.

    Turned out that he was regular supply, and that he simply did not exercise good judgment. He did what he wanted to do, at the expense of what he was supposed to do, and lied about things to prop himself up for his own benefit.

    Well, after his lies were exposed, he jumped in and played the martyr:

    Naturally, when the exposed phony/embellisher jumps onto a thread like this, you guys can predict what would happen.

    During the exchange, he tried to BS the site into taking down the post on him. Continuing to play the martyr, he tried to make it sound like we were being cruel to the veterans that he was trying to help. He also attempted to paint a picture of us putting his family through an experience they didn’t need to go through.

    His commentary and action on the other thread about him, as well as his actions in the organizations he was at, have one common denominator. He refused to accept responsibility for his own action. He also refused to view himself in an image other than how he actually viewed himself.

    Eventually, he gave up trying to get the post on him taken down. He disappeared for a few months until he showed up again. On May 25, 2018, he wrote:

Hopefully I can get things back on track for my family and future. As honestly all I want to do is help people from the bottom of my heart. I have learned many lessons in this company and with veterans. I can assure you that I am deeply sorry. God bless.
    Shane

    Once again, he attempted to play the martyr. He attempted to BS us into thinking that our actions, and the site’s keeping the post on him up, contributed to his life changing for the worse. He appears to still want the post about him to be taken down.

    The passage of time did not stop him from accepting responsibility for his own actions and moving on from there.

    On November 19, 2018 someone wrote:

    Thank you!

    This appears to be a sock puppet username, as it is very personal on behalf of Shane Kunzeman. It’s very defensive, especially with the “I have the commendations” remark. Once again, this individual shows that Shane Kunzeman refuses to take ownership of his actions.

    If this is Shane Kunzeman himself, then he truly is not apologetic.

    According to someone that served with him, Shane Kunzeman spent most of his time in the front leading rest position. For the non-Army types, this is the position that someone takes for doing push-ups. Also, they determined that the quality of his service didn’t warrant his receiving an ETS award.

    What’s even funnier is how he made a point with Shane, with regards to the actual parting gift that he received.

    Carlos pointed out, as we have noted in the post about him, that Shane brought all this upon himself.

    Here’s what Jonn said in his original article:

    Our partners at Military Phonies send us their work on this fellow, Shane Kunzeman, who operates a resume writing business called Your New Life. For some reason, he thought it would be a good idea that he should become an Army Ranger, but he came to that conclusion after he left the Army, you know, when it was too late for him to attend training or to be assigned to a Ranger unit;

    He did spend less than three and a half years on active duty as a 92A automated logistical specialist in an aviation unit in Germany. The he spent about a year and a half in the Army Reserves and he worked at the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWP) as a logistics contractor;

    No training or assignments that would make him a Ranger, not even parachutist qualified.

    Blast From the Past: Gregory Charles Banks, the phony just passing through

    This week’s BFTP spotlight goes to Gregory Charles Banks aka “Egregious Greg”. The original post is located here: Gregory Charles Banks, the phony just passing through  which amassed over 829 comments, and a cool “Wanted” poster was also made for Gregory here: Wanted: Gregory Banks. Greg also made it to the Shitbag Sixteen during the 2014 Blue Falcon Stolen Valor Tournament. Just another phony with the response of “Who dat?” from the NPRC.

    Jonn’s original post:

    So one of our readers is a Mason up in Connecticut and this dude passes through his lodge on the way back from his combat assignments. Sometimes he’s in ACUs, other times he’s wearing his blues, like in the picture above. Of course, he’s Special Forces (isn’t everyone, these days) and in addition to his duties as an Army officer, he’s also a counselor with two offices. The man is a freakin’ machine.

    Well, he didn’t turn up in any of my databases, but, you know, he’s probably so secret squirrel that he wouldn’t, but CID can’t find him either. Nor can NPRC;

    We’re told that his lodge just threw him a big celebration for his recent award of the Bronze Star Medal so obviously, he loves attention – so here is all of the attention you could ever want, Greg-baby. It looks to me like he stole a midget’s jacket.

    I emailed these pictures to our counselor friend, Greg Charles Banks and asked if these are not him in the photos, and he hasn’t answered back. I guess he’s going with “identity theft” as an explanation.

    OK, I just got an email from him and he admits that this is him in this picture taken at the lodge not wearing the uniform;

    I don’t know, you judge.

  • Blast From The Past — Thomas Reister is not a combat wounded veteran

    This week’s blast from the past “winner” is Thomas Reister. Jonn’s post on him was simple compared to the other posts on phonies. Thomas came with a service dog, he wore paraphernalia identifying him as a Gulf War Veteran, and he sported awards and decorations he did not earn.

    For some reason, the organization that gave him the service dog claimed that he had suffered things that only other wounded warriors would understand. A review of Thomas Reister’s official records showed that he left active duty before the Gulf War.

    Additionally, it did not show him as earning any warfare specialist badge that would warrant him wearing one of the badges on his cap.

    This is one of the posts that would’ve garnered the average amounts of responses that a stolen valor post would’ve received. However, Thomas Reister helped make this one of the stolen valor posts that garnered well above the average number of responses.

    It didn’t take long for him to deploy his sock puppets to the thread to try to dazzle us with his baloney.

    He jumped onto the post about him and kept arguing. Naturally, you guys jumped in and “ate him alive”. His persistence with trying to get us to respect him resulted in the response count to shoot up to 820.

    Too many sock puppet posts to quote here, so I’ll highlight three of them.

    Originally posted by “DAVE” (Sock Puppet):

    Notice the grandiose claims he makes in that first quote.

    He called us losers; however, Thomas Reister was the one that kept getting kicked out. He’s also the one that spent time in a homeless shelter. His attitude, as displayed on the post about him, was a common denominator for these experiences.

    He deployed multiple sock puppets to make it sound like he had some buddies defending him. But, with the sock puppets constantly saying, “ASS WHOLE”, constantly utilizing all capitalized words, and constantly displaying similar patterns, we knew better.

    Originally posted by “TOM” (Sock Puppet):

    He accused us of being Internet tough guys. However, looking at how he described us in his responses, it was obvious that he was projecting his traits onto us. All one had to do was to read what he said about us to see what kind of person he actually was.

    The following quote laments the “disrespect” that he received, the “lies” that he was subjected to, and also laments that he was “cheated on”. Judging by the attitude that he showed on that thread, there’s a good chance that his controlling, combative, sensitive nature drove his responses to other people’s reactions to him… As well as his responses to us.

    He didn’t realize that what he was seeing, in his description in the below quote, was a result of those around him reacting to his toxic behavior:

    Originally posted by “TOM” (Sock Puppet):

    You should mosey over to the other thread to read the hilarious exchange that followed.

    Here’s what Jonn said in the original post:

    Thomas Reister (1)
    Someone sent us their work on this Thomas Magnum Reister fellow. He also goes by the name Thomas Riester. He’s in San Antonio, Texas, and he somehow convinced Service Dog Express to give him a service dog named “Connor”. This post used to quote from an article that the dog people wrote in which they claimed that Reister suffered “unimaginable things that only other Wounded Warriors could comprehend”. When we highlighted that, the dog people decided that they’d take the blame for it and they said that Thomas hadn’t told them that he was a combat veteran, that they made it up for their organization. OK.

    moore_reister_1

    But they haven’t been able to explain how he wears this fugly Desert Storm Veteran cap everywhere, you know, seein’s how he’s not a veteran of Desert Storm;

    20140131_153638
    20160902_185801

    He’s been homeless at times since he left the Navy and he blames PTSD for his bad behavior, but I don’t know how much PTSD he has or which “unimaginable things that only other Wounded Warriors could comprehend” he’s seen. He spent three years in the US Navy from 1985 to 1988 (he left the service more than two years before Desert Storm) and another nine years in the Navy Reserves. He has no awards for any deployments to combat;

    Thomas Riester FOIA

    The way I understand it, he does have some disabilities in regards to his legs and knees and he’s being treated by the VA, but those are not service-connected injuries.

  • Blast from the Past – Gregory Isaac Tambone; Phony Veteran

    During last week’s “contest” for this week’s Blast From the Past, Gregory Isaac Tambone, phony veteran, competed well to be this week’s “winner”. In fact, he came over here last week on the original post Jonn did on him.

    We were so “impressed” by his efforts that his “selection” to be this week’s “winner” was unanimous.

    As a recap, he has a record involving law enforcement. He was accused of firing a weapon at someone, as well as being involved with a home invasion robbery. A woman in the same car as him was accused of wearing a stolen necklace taken during the robbery.

    But wait! There’s more!

    He was accused of raping a woman in Utah. Law enforcement arrested him in Florida, leading to a chain of events that’d get him sent back to Utah to face the music.

    In his bio, he claimed that armed men chased him in a chase that ended in a firefight outside a gas station. Well, police reports disagree with that claim. He does admit to serving prison time, but he spins it away as something that involved the government… He made a deal with the government and his prison sentence was reduced.

    He claims that he was accused of sending guys to the hospital with permanent damage, but was determined to be acting in self-defense. According to those who have seen his arrest records, he has felony convictions under his belt. If his account was anything like his gas station shootout claim, then this would be another fabrication.

    He talks about his rape accusation, and claims that a check showed that there was no evidence of a violent encounter, and that the person that accused him of rape recanted her claims. Now, if charges weren’t filed, but were later filed despite “lack of evidence”, this leaves one to ponder.

    I’m sorry, but charging him, then setting a high amount of bail, doesn’t sound like a case that “lacks of evidence”. If it remains unknown if this was a legitimate mistake on Utah’s part, then Gregory Tambone would fight these charges in court.

    He goes on to rant about there being no evidence of the crimes that he committed. Yet, he admits to being “unruly” when he was younger, and for being expelled from school. This establishes a track record of someone who would rather do what he wants to do instead of what he’s supposed to do…. Laws, and what’s customary, be damned.

    Bottom line, he’s spinning his actual run in with the law into a tall tale about the government singling him out for “persecution”, to the point that he had to leave the country and seek asylum elsewhere… Ergo, these charges are “false flags” by a government out to get him.

    Well, true to his constantly exercising poor judgement, he came back here and attempted to argue against the facts levied against him:

    Originally posted by Greg Tambone:

    I have never made false claims of any kind which can easily be verified with about 5 minutes of investigation. I don’t know if this post is some sort of personal vendetta or not, but I do know it’s nothing more than defamation and slander.

    When challenged to address where he felt the documentation on him was wrong, he replied with this:

    Originally posted by Greg Tambone:

    The link he left lead back to his “about” page, where he tries to spin his criminal record, and talk about his other “accomplishments”. His bio page contradicts what others say about him elsewhere. His page wasn’t a compilation of facts, but spin and distortion of the facts.

    Then, when ChipNASA reminded him of what he could do if he thought that Jonn and the site had it wrong about him, Gregory Tambone argued that he wasn’t the “lawer” type. He also talked about how his life is something that we “dreamed about” while hunting for stolen valor:

Having a popular following as well as haters to boot I’m familiar with your type. The type that gets their enjoyment in life from online crap talk and instigation of people they would never confront in the real world. That being said, I am not that type, and yes my record speaks for itself. The violent felonies I’ve been charged with and then acquitted of after surviving multiple assasination attempts is the stuff that guys like you dream about while “stolen valor hunting” and trolling. Therefore I’ll end the discussion with this, I see that you’ve redacted this article to make it look less like slander. I’m not going to sue you. At the end of the day the only thing this does is drive people to my website who immediately realize that I’m the real deal and then buy some of my equipment. So thank you. Please post more hate, and make sure you spell my name right. Bone out.

    This is an example of projecting his traits to those that he talked about. The reality is that he envies us for our experiences. He claims to be a survivor of multiple attempts to assassinate him, that he had been a political prisoner, and that he is doing stuff that we fantasize about.

    Without real military experience, he doesn’t know that a lot of our experiences is pretty much mundane. That the high-speed military thriller stuff that one would see in many movies, or read about in many books, are included in the novel to add suspense and excitement.

    Gregory Tambone appears to want people to believe that he is living that “high-speed low drag” kind of life romanticized in these novels.

    He claims to have been acquitted of those felonies, but others elsewhere are claiming that he is still a felon.

    In this post, Gregory Tambone beats his chest:

    He consistently leaves a link to his bio page, showing his opinion, and spin, of the results of his consistently making poor decisions in life. It makes one wonder if “Bone Tactical” was based on a nickname that he may have had, “Bonehead”… As opposed to the apparent play on the last syllable of his last name… Thus “giving him” the “last laugh”.

    It’s easier to make one’s run in with the law and one’s convictions in court, sound like a “vendetta”… As if these charges were drummed up to destroy someone who is “going against the grain”. His, “What they don’t want you to know” remark looks like an attempt to play the “This is a conspiracy, they’re hiding things” card.

    The reality is that “they”, whoever “they” are, are more interested in the facts. “They” know that his bio page is an exercise of ego enhancement.

    On April 29, 2018, Frankie Cee nailed Gregory Tambone as someone that shifts the blame. If you’ve read his bio page, you’d see him shift the blame, instead of accepting responsibility for his acts. His conduct, on the original thread, speaks volumes about this observation:

    Originally posted by Frankie Cee:

    There’s a complaint board thread on him here.

    Here’s what Jonn said:

    Someone sent us their work on this Gregory Issac Tambone fellow. He’s the owner of Bone Tactical which sells edged weapons and does security work and training. The industry thinks that Bone Tactical is a veteran-owned business;

    Mr Tambone has a past that would preclude any military service. For example he was arrested in Florida in 2005;

    Oquine Joseph, 20, was a passenger in the car that authorities say was driven by Gregory Tambone, who is accused of shooting Brent Sielaff, 24, at the Shell station in the 5300 block of U.S. 41. The home-invasion robbery happened in the 2800 block of 51st Avenue Terrace West.

    A person who saw the shooting recognized that a woman in the shooter’s car was wearing a necklace stolen during the robbery, according to sheriff’s reports. Joseph said he was with Sielaff, 18, and his friends during the robbery, authorities said.

    Ten years later, he was charged with rape in Salt Lake City;

    A bouncer at a Salt Lake City bar charged in 2016 with raping a woman has been arrested in Florida and returned to Utah.

    Gregory Tambone, 31, of Bradenton, Florida, was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, in April of 2016. He used to work as a bouncer at The Hotel, 155 W. 200 South.

    In August of 2015, a woman said “she and some friends were out celebrating at a local bar” when “she went to The Hotel bar where she met with defendant Gregory I. Tambone where he works as a bouncer,” according to charging documents.

    The two had met a month earlier and exchanged numbers, the charges state.

    “As she was leaving the bar, Tambone asked (her) if she wanted a private tour of the building before she left,” according to court documents.

    When they got to an upper level, Tambone removed the woman’s clothes “and forced her to engage in sexual intercourse with him” despite multiple pleas from the woman of “stop” and “no,” the charges state.

    An arrest warrant for Tambone was issued on April 25, 2016. His initial appearance in court in Salt Lake was scheduled for Tuesday.

    The National Personnel Records Center says “Who?”

  • Blast From The Past — Michael Killam; Phony POW

    This week’s Blast from the Past “winner” is Michael Killam, Phony POW. He did two years in the military, with a year served in Vietnam as a helicopter crewman. He maintained helicopters in order for them to be combat effective.

    This was a contribution, to the Vietnam War, that he should’ve been proud of.

    He did this at a time when more people opted for other options than to join the military… Let alone enlist in a branch of the military that provided a good likelihood of being sent to Vietnam.

    He’s a Vietnam Veteran, that title alone would garner him a lot of respect from today’s veterans, as well as from the rest of the country.

    But, that wasn’t enough for him. He had to add himself being thrown into the fray. He wanted to dazzle people with his tales of “being captured”. He bragged about other activities that he simply didn’t do.

    Now, when Jonn posted about him in December 2015, he had an opportunity to tell himself, “The gig’s up”. Then, go from there to examining what motivated him to do that in the first place… With the view of standing by what he actually did and to not embellish.

    Nope. Either he, or a sock puppet, decided to double down on the embellishment:

    I will know next week the truth. The 3rd SEAC in visiting our troops in combat but has assured me he will dive into this a when he gets home Monday. I promise you I will post what I find out. I am turned off as much as the next guy when someone claims to be something they are not. All I am asking is let’s get some facts before we put this Brother against the wall and shoot him. Is that asking too much?

    I will sign off until next week. Some of these comments from folks that know the truth are really disturbing to the is old Soldier.

    Signing out for now.

    Well, he did come back the following week, January 14, 2016, but without the “truth” that he claimed he’d have. Jonn’s documentation didn’t support this “additional evidence”:

    Each of you can say what you want about me because it rumors me. Actually I enjoyed some of your comments.

    Here’s where I am at:

    Michael was assigned to the following units:

    7-15 FA
    7-13 FA (short stay)

    MOS was 67V2T with a secondary of 67VM20 after graduating from Fort Rucker.

    He was debriefed in May 1970 after either being captured or missing for three day. The video you saw of the Senator stating four months was a shock even to Michael. I did some inquires today to find out why the Senator used four months. No one could give me a solid answer. The debriefing was conducted by the 7-13 FA S-2. I am doing some more research to verify which it was. I have a former commander of the unit assisting me in this mission.

    He was wounded in his left leg but was not awarded the Purple Heart for his wound.

    A shock, but no correction made. As to the source of his information, same day:

    He came back on the 17th to declare that he was no longer going to address comments on This Aint Hell. Then, he continued on to rant about the parameters of his “research” on Michael Killam’s claims.

    Well, 2 years, 10 months, and 19 days later, still no results from his investigation. Still waiting for that “earth shattering evidence”. I guess he didn’t find any additional information. You could read the commentary here.

    Here’s what Jonn said in his original post:

    Michael Killiam
    A couple of our ninjas were interested in this fellow, Michael Duane Killam, apparently, because I’ve been getting info on him from a couple of folks since last week. He came to everyone’s attention when he was in the local Dallas/Fort Worth news last month around Veterans’ Day and he was recognized by Congressman Marc Veasey for his service in Vietnam.

    Killam claims (2)
    Michael Duane Killam Phony Vietnam POW Claims to have been with the 75th Rangers, 173rd Airborne and POW

    He claimed that he was a POW (the period of capture changes from time to time from three days to four months, depending on how Killam feels) and that he was wounded, that he had two Purple Hearts, that he was in the 75th Infantry. From Kera News;

    During the first 90 days of his tour in Vietnam, Michael Killam says he felt invincible.

    “I had weapons,” he said. “I had power over life and death. I could make people live or I could let them die. I became God-like.”

    Killam was only 19 at the time. During his tour, he was captured for three days, hung upside down, and tortured for hours. Eventually, he escaped and returned to duty.

    Well, he was in Vietnam;

    Killam Vietnam 1
    Killam Vietnam 2

    Killam Vietnam 3

    He was a helicopter crewman, but with the 7th Battalion 15th Artillery, not the 75th Infantry. It looks like he was a mechanic on an OH-58 OH-6 Cayuse which would have been used for artillery observation and spotting, not in assault aircraft as he claims;

    Killam claims
    DPAA says that he wasn’t a POW either;

    He did have two years of honorable service, though, including a year in Vietnam from August 1969 – September 1970;

    “Congratulations” to Kevin Holian, today’s Blast From the Past star.

    As I was going through the hate posts that never got airtime, I noticed that one IP seemed to provide the bulk of the hate mail directed at Jonn. This individual, using multiple usernames, attempted to post comments on three threads from this one IP:

    • RIP, SFC Jonn Lilyea
    • SFC Jonn V. Lilyea U.S. Army — Funeral at Arlington National Cemetery
    • Kevin Holian; phony Vietnam vet, POW

    This started to look easy. I looked at the language on the Kevin Holian article, and noticed that Jonn called Kevin, “Junior” in one of the attachments. In these hate posts, this individual consistently called Jonn “Junior”.

    This is a part of what he tried to say with regards to how we should conduct ourselves:

    The federal and states laws about Stolen Valor address posing for monetary gain versus a person saying or wearing anything. Stolen Valor Act and laws address the fraud perpetrated to gain veteran benefits or other monetary benefits. The Stolen Valor Act has zero to do with words, dress appearance and freedom of speech statements by anyone.

    Jonn and TAH are sadly and will remain misguided. They TAH should address stolen valor correctly or simply continue to be a Hate Group, much similar to the KKK or any other vile Hate Group.

    His attempt to “sneak in”:

    As a CTT2 in the Navy I was in awe at the courage of SFC Lilyea. He was my idol and role model. He showed me how to be the greatest man I could be. My wife dated him before she met me. She always loved him, even now. Navy guys could never be as good as a Army grunt like Lilyea.

    He also attempted to sneak in by stealing the username of a regular participant on this site.

    He utilized multiple usernames to attempt to get in. Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for this individual, he didn’t gain any traction. He appeared to have control and anger issues. These apparent issues appeared to get in the way of his sense of common decency, if he had one. So much that he entered the site and trashed one of the founders who had just passed away.

    However, for the efforts of this individual, posting from one IP while using multiple usernames, we could reward Kevin Holian, aka “Junior” by reinforcing his Google fame.

    As for who this individual is, it could be a sock puppet, or it could be someone that attempted to go “Wickre” on us. Either way, he needs to know that what he intended to do with those attempts did nothing but backfire.

    On a side note, Claw gave us a lead that has been moved up on the list, will be featured next. Kevin Holian got rushed to the front on the account of what this one individual said… Most not yet suitable for posting.

    Here’s what Jonn said last time:

    Someone sent us their work on this fellow, Kevin Holian who claimed in one of his Facebook Groups that he was a Vietnam veteran and a POW of that war;

    Yeah, but no. He did serve towards the end of the Vietnam War as a Vietnamese linguist – he ended his training four months after combat troops left Vietnam. The closest he got to Vietnam was Korea. Then he finished his commitment in the Reserves.

    To complete the evidence, the alphabetical list of Vietnam POWs from the US Army who have been accounted for;

    It’s not his fault that war ended before he could get to it – it is his fault that he had to make shit up to feel better about himself. And a POW, ffs.

    Blast From the Past; David “Doc” Shrum, phony wounded veteran

    Jonn posted about David “Doc” Shrum on August 25, 2015, read the original post and comments here: David “Doc” Shrum; phony wounded veteran. Military Phonies posted a Throwback Thursday on David “Doc” Shrum on January 12, 2017, here: David “Doc” Shrum; phony wounded veteran. The 42D Dental Laboratory Technician was selected for the Blast From the Past weekly post among a plethora of eligible poser candidates by the elite TAH selection team, well, just because.

    As Jonn pointed out so eloquently, “The lesson here is; if you enlist to be a dental technician, be a dental technician”.

    Jonn’s work below.

    Doc Shrum

    Several months ago, the New Mexico department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart told us about this guy that they had booted by the name of David Shrum. Shrum had been the state commander in the early part of this century and folks started wondering about some of his claims. From the Daily Times;

    Shrum claims on the DD 214, provided to The Daily Times by the military order, that he received the bronze star, a Distinguished Flying Cross and a Silver Star, prestigious medals given to soldiers for heroism or gallantry in military action.

    However, according to Shrum’s military records, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request sent to the federal National Archives and Records Administration, Shrum received no awards for heroism.

    Here’s that DD214;

    Doc Shrum DD214
    Notice the DD214 says that he joined the Army in 1964. Well, that’s easy to disprove;

    Doc Shrum HS diploma

    Yep, he was still in High School when the DD214 says he was in the Army on active duty. And all of those medals “with clusters”. No one in the Army says “with clusters”. Except newbies.

    [David’s brothers] Ken and Bill Shrum claimed in interviews that their brother has a long history as a con artist and has served time in federal prison for fraud.

    It looks like David did serve according to the Daily Times;

    The records indicate that David Shrum graduated in November 1965 from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and then received training as a dental lab specialist in San Antonio, Texas.

    […]

    David Shrum was stationed in Okinawa beginning in June 1966 and remained there until the completion of active duty, federal records state.

    […]

    David Shrum finished active duty in September 1968 and reenlisted in February 1971, according to federal records.

    David Shrum served in Vietnam with the 56th Dental Detachment from April 14, 1971, to Feb. 21, 1972, according to federal records.

    He received additional dental training upon his return to the United States and was redeployed to Germany in December 1973.

    We submitted for a FOIA on Shrum back in September but for some reason they didn’t include his awards and the standard FOIA form that we normally get. All they sent was his assignments. Mary has resubmitted four more times. But here are his assignments;

    David Shrum Assignments 1
    David Shrum Assignments 2

    You can see that he does have a tour of Vietnam as a dental technician from April 1971 – February 1972. Not usually a type of assignment that would earn him 17 Air Medals, 5 Bronze Star Medals, 3 Distinguished Flying Crosses, and 3 Silver Star Medals. Nor would it require the Basic Airborne Course, and the Jungle Operations Training Course.

    After he was booted from the Army with a General Discharge after a drunk-driving accident on a US base in Germany, he spent two tours in prison for defrauding investors in a couple of schemes he tried to perpetrate on the public.

    The upshot is that the MOPH has suspended the chapter in Farmington, NM and some of the members have reported Shrum’s lies to the VA and to the Feds.

    Pete Comstock, another former commander of the order…said a federal investigator told him David Shrum is currently under investigation by the office for fraudulently claiming 100 percent disability.

    “He claims 100 percent disability, because of (post-traumatic stress disorder), and it’s a lie,” Comstock said. “He has been receiving $3,000 a month for a long, long time and he shouldn’t have been.”

    The federal investigator was reached by telephone but declined to comment on Shrum.

    The lesson here is; if you enlist to be a dental technician, be a dental technician.

    We’re still waiting for the rest of Shrum’s real records from the NPRC.

    And here it is on Oct. 27, 2015, finally;
