  • Active shooter at The Mall in Columbia (Maryland)

    So, there’s stuff flying around about an active shooter at The Mall in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland. The Howard County Police report three have died. There aren’t many details yet, but, it has to be a false story, because Governor O’Malley just rammed through new gun control legislation which was supposed to solve the gun problem in Maryland. They got accolades from the Brady Bunch.

    “We’re among the top tier of states that are doing the most a state can do,” said Vincent DeMarco, Marylanders to Prevent Gun violence.

    So, you see how I might be concerned that this story was planted by the far right wing because Maryland is absolutely safe from gun violence. Either that, or O’Malley was just pissing in the wind.

  • Maryland charges vet with murder for defending his family

    Pave Pusher sends us a link from the Capitol Gazette which reports that Matthew Pinkerton, an Air Force vet, has been charged with murder for shooting a man he claims forced his way into Pinkerton’s home;

    Green had staked out the Pinkertons’ home before they arrived early Sunday morning, O’Neill said. When Green knocked on the door, Pinkerton retrieved a Glock 17 9mm handgun, put it in his back pocket and went to see who it was, police said. He wasn’t expecting any visitors.

    When Pinkerton opened the door, he found Green on the porch, police said. Green demanded to see Jessica Pinkerton.

    Matthew Pinkerton told Green to leave, but he refused and started to shout, police said.

    The pair exchanged “derogatory” remarks before Pinkerton closed the front door, police said. Green continued to yell from the front porch, police said.

    Pinkerton then heard his screen door being opened, police said. He headed back to the front door as Green broke through it, damaging the door frame, O’Neill said.

    Pinkerton pulled his gun and ordered Green to leave, O’Neill said.

    Green continued into the residence and was shot twice by Pinkerton, police said.

    The State claims that Pinkerton should have called 911. Yeah, 911 works for a lot of stuff, but not for folks who force their way into your home.

    Assistant State’s Attorney Glen Neubauer said Pinkerton could have called the police. When Pinkerton grabbed his gun, it was “bizarre behavior in itself,” Neubauer said.

    Mr. Neubauer ought not come to my house at 2 AM on a Sunday, without calling ahead, then. A TAH fan dropped by the TAH corporate resort last week and was not surprised that I answered the door with my Colt. I don’t go to Maryland with a gun, so I don’t go to Maryland. And this is why.

  • Six vets guilty of fraud in MD

    Chip sends us a link to an article in the Baltimore Sun about six veterans, some of whom had never been in Vietnam, who had paid the former deputy chief of veterans’ affairs, David Clark, to receive benefits related to Agent Orange;

    Those who pleaded guilty this week are Kenneth Williams, 64, of Baltimore (Marine Corps); Raymond Sadler, 61, of Middle River (Marine Corps); Sandra Tyree, 64, of Rosedale (Air Force); Kenneth Webster, 67, of Pasadena (Marine Corps); Paul Heard, 64, of Baltimore (Navy); and John Bratcher, 54, of Conowingo (Air Force).

    All face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, and must pay back what they earned through the scheme, prosecutors said.

    The scheme included manufacturing documentation to support their phony claims. But Stolen Valor is victimless.

    Clark allegedly fabricated documents showing he and others had been awarded service honors, the indictment says, including Purple Heart Medals and Vietnam Service Medals.

    […]

    The fraud resulted in benefits losses of more than $1.15 million and property tax losses of more than $250,000, the indictment says.

    Yeah, even divided up six ways, that’s going to be tough to pay back from prison by renting out their various orifices to their cell mates. So, thanks, Maryland. Can you reelect O’Malley again so he can put some more of his cronies in positions of responsibility.

  • O’Malley’s land of taxes

    So, when Robert Erlich left office as the governor of Maryland in 2007 he turned over a budgetary surplus to incoming governor, Marty O’Malley. Within six months, O’Malley had spent the surplus (mostly on salaries for folks who had helped him get in office) and raised taxes on working Marylanders. And it’s been a spree ever since. I could stand it for three years and I beat feet across the West Virginia State line. The only thing worth going to Maryland for was because gas was cheaper there than West Virginia – well, until O’Malley jacked up the gas tax. Now that they’ve also passed their gun ban, I can’t even go to the range in Maryland anymore.

    But, looking for more revenue, the hungry beast, O’Malley is going after homeowners and taxing them for the amount of rain that falls on their property. From Breitbart;

    The tax, mandated by the EPA and enforced locally, will be calculated “through satellite surveillance of your property,” the statement claims.

    Bongino blasts “out of touch political aristocrats in Maryland will do anything to diminish your economic liberty and starve your wallet while padding theirs.”

    According to the conservative organization Change Maryland, the rain tax will cost Marylanders about $300 million annually.

    So, someone tell me why they reelected this spastic libtard?

  • Pro-criminal Maryland

    You have to wonder what is happening in Maryland these days. I can see it from my house but I do my best to keep from spending my money there – which means a hour drive to Winchester, VA for most of my purchases. Their gun-grabbing bill from Martin O’Malley, easily the worst governor in their history has just cleared the Senate committee, according to the Washington Times;

    The Democratic governor’s bill would most notably require residents to obtain a license before buying a handgun, and would also ban assault weapons and lower the limit on magazine capacities.

    The bill would have forced applicants to pay $100 for a purchasing license and $100 to renew it every five years, but the Senate committee lowered the license fee to $50 and renewal fees to $20 every 10 years.

    Oh, by the way, the Senate committee also voted to repeal the state’s death penalty – so Maryland residents won’t be able to protect themselves from criminals with their own guns, and if they get murdered by the criminals, the criminals will probably get another opportunity to do so after a few years of incarceration.

    On top of that, a Maryland delegate, Curt Anderson, offered a bill to allow for recreational use of marijuana in the state, you know because there aren’t enough drug-addled morons lurching around the state.

    The bill does not allow for marijuana smoking in public or while driving, according to the report. Some of the marijuana tax money would be used to pay for those who receive alcohol, tobacco and drug treatment, the Gazette said.

    Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  • In O’Malley vs. Erlich debate O’Malley calls illegals “new Americans”

    Gregory Kane at the Washington Examiner picked up on the latest PC term for illegal aliens in the lexicon of of Marty O’Malley, the current (and soon-to-be-former) governor of Maryland in his debate with former (and soon-to-be-again) governor, Robert Ehrlich;

    “There is this nativism rising up and this desire to blame new Americans for the problems in our economy.”

    Yeah, he said it. And Ehrlich was quick to pounce on the gaffe.

    “If somebody breaks in my house, is that a new member of my family that night?”

    Kane continues;

    The phrase O’Malley should have used in lieu of “new Americans” is “new Marylanders.” The nation’s leading sanctuary state east of the Mississippi has created its own criteria for state citizenship.

    Yeah, when I lived in Montgomery County, I had to be bilingual to get just about anything from local retailers. During my three years of residence in Maryland it got progressively worse and we were pretty much forbidden to discuss it. One family of Peruvians who ran the local chicken joint “Pollo Rico” were here legally but got busted for not paying their taxes and hiring illegals. The next day, it was like a ghost town because the illegals thought George Booosh was personally going to hunt them down and deport them. There was no line at my barber shop. Of course, the only barbers that were there were legals – luckily, Carlos, my Paraguayan barber, and the ony guy in the free world who knows how to cut my hair apparently, was legal.

    The Montgomery County Police Chief almost went as far as to promise all of the illegals in Montgomery County free blow jobs if they’d come out and stand on street corners and beg for work. He promised he wouldn’t arrest them for being criminals. I guess he needed gardeners that weekend.

    But, that’s O’Malley – punish the legal residents with higher taxes and encourage illegals to come in and take their jobs. Go ahead Maryland, vote O’Malley back.

  • Firefighters watch fire destroy house

    In South Fulton, TN, a local fire department stood by and watched a house burn to the ground and kill three dogs and a cat because the family didn’t pay their $75 annual fee to the fire department. OK, the Cranick family didn’t pay their fee, but don’t fire departments get tax money, ostensibly paid by the Cranick family, to put out fires?

  • More MOVE Act violations head for court

    The Military and Overseas Voter Enforcement Act of 2009 is still causing trouble for some states and counties who can’t get out of the habit of screwing military members out of their votes according to the Military Voter Protection (MVP) Project. MVP has filed a lawsuit against Maryland for mailing out an incomplete ballot to at least one officer. Oddly enough, the ballot included only candidates for Federal office and none of the contentious elections for State office. (Fox News link)

    [Eric] Eversole says the DOJ’s lack of oversight in enforcing the MOVE Act could lead to the disenfranchisement of military voters.

    “DOJ decided Maryland could send out to only half a ballot, and the ballots they sent out did not satisfy the requirements,” he said. “It all comes back to this: From our perspective, they deserve to have that ballot sent to them and sent to them in a timely manner. We don’t think it should be half a ballot. You don’t meet your requirements for sending out half a ballot.”

    MVP sent a letter to the US Attorney General Eric Holder;

    On Monday, MVP Project sent a list of possible MOVE Act violations to Attorney General Eric Holder, claiming the act may have been violated in Connecticut, New Mexico, seven counties in Alabama, two counties in Arkansas, one county in California, one county in Indiana and two counties in Nevada.

    You can see the details of the violations listed in this letter at this .pdf.

    I’m surprised not at all, especially at Maryland’s behavior. Ass-munch, thief, liar, puppy-murderer, molester of kittens, sniffer of used diapers, Marty O’Malley is in the race for his political life and he’s sure to hamstring the opposition anyway he can.

    I have to ask; where the Hell is VoteVets? It’s right there in their name that they ought to be involved in this. OK, they’re not a VSO…but what else should this organization be involved in instead of some bullshit “Clean Energy” campaign for MoveOn.
