  • Army: Army failed to notice Hasan’s radical Islamic screeds

    So, according to the Washington Times, the Army issued a report on it’s own failure to notice that Major Nidal Hasan was a radical jihadist despite the fact that he told them as much;

    “Our current protection procedures fall short of synchronizing policy, establishing priorities and allocating resources to achieve the desired end state,” Army Maj. Gen. Robert M. Radin, leader of the Army Internal Review Team, said in the report. “We must efficiently and effectively transform how we look at protecting the force.”

    According to the report, Maj. Hassan fired on soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 5, 2009, killing 13 people and wounding 43 others, 34 by gunshot and nine by other unspecified means. Previous news reports tallied 31 wounded and noted that he shouted “Allah akbar” (“God is great”) during the shooting.

    “While the response to the incident was prompt and effective, the tragedy raised questions about the DoD’s preparedness to prevent or defend against internal threats,” the report said.

    There were constant and glaring examples of Hasan telling people to their face that this mass murder was going to happen and it was ignored by the chain of command and the FBI. Stevie Wonder could see the failures of the military from space. The Army has been so politically correct and sensitive to cultural issues since the 70s and this is the culmination of these ill-considered policies.

    This is the Army acting like they’re doing something but covering up for their failed policies with a PowerPoint presentation. Yeah, stop with the “investigations” and ask a sergeant what they should do.

  • For Veterans Day viewing

    Matt Daniels, the founder of “Great Americans” wrote us last night to tell us that he’s launched a channel on Hulu;

    We’re proud to announce that Great Americans has been asked to launch a patriotism channel on Hulu. We are publicly launching the channel on Veteran’s Day with a series of exclusive profiles of Medal of Honor recipients – none of which have ever been shown before on television or online.

    So that gives you something to watch while you’re waiting for “Wartorn” tomorrow night.

  • Indicted: Man steals AER funds four years ago

    A man now living in Columbus, GA raided the Army Emergency Relief funds to the tune of thousands of dollars while he worked in Korea more than four years ago. Apparently, his friends would apply for grants from the Army charity and Tyrone L. Ellis would approve the grant while taking a portion for himself, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer;

    Between Oct. 12, 2005, and Aug. 15, 2006, Ellis had applicants give him $7,700. Between Oct. 12, 2005, and July 7, 2006, the co-conspirator had applicants hand over $3,100, the indictment states.

    The AER is a private, nonprofit group that provides emergency funds to Army soldiers and their families. It gets its money from contributions during an annual campaign, unsolicited contributions, the repayment of loans and from reserve funds, court records state.

    The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation into the grants in August 2006 at Camp Humphreys.

    Like Just A Grunt, who sent me the link, I wonder why it took those bozos at CIB so long to bust this guy. He committed the crime over four years ago and moved to Columbus four years ago.

  • 34 warships to guard Prez off the coast of India

    So while we wallow in debt and unemployment, the president moves Washington to India by sea;

    He will also be protected by a fleet of 34 warships, including an aircraft carrier, which will patrol the sea lanes off the Mumbai coast during his two-day stay there beginning Saturday. The measure has been taken as Mumbai attack in 2008 took place from the sea.

    Arrangements have been put in place for emergency evacuation, if needed.

    Yeah, I understand that the President needs protection, but holy smokes! 34 warships? Looking for a couple of rubber rafts?

    Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

  • Military ballots to decide in my home district

    It’s a horse race in my hometown district (NY-25) and my home, Wayne County, has pushed the Republican Ann Marie Buerkle into the lead according to the Syracuse Post Standard;

    In a stunning reversal from election night, Republican Ann Marie Buerkle surged ahead of U.S. Rep. Dan Maffei by 659 votes Wednesday in the 25th Congressional District race after Wayne County reported its unofficial returns.

    Buerkle began the day trailing Maffei by about 5,600 votes, but she took the lead after a convincing victory in Wayne County, the final county in the four-county district to report its results. Buerkle trounced Maffei in the rural Republican county, 15,429 (63 percent) to 9,191 (37 percent), according to returns Wayne County released at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday — more than 20 hours after polls closed.

    Now the two candidates are separated by only 659 votes — Buerkle leads 99,594 to 98,935 — meaning the election will be decided by absentee and military ballots.

    I think it’s pretty exciting that the race hangs on those military ballots, the same kind of ballots that won’t get counted in other counties across the nation. And now you can see why Democrats hate those military votes.

  • Keeping the H&C alive

    I just listened in on a conference call from the President to the DNC and their subordinate Organizing For America band of volunteers and if you thought that last night taught Obama and his minions anything, let me disabuse of that notion.

    The president lamented the fact that so many “good people who were looking after the interests of the American people” got fired last night, but we (dupes on the phone call) shouldn’t feel discouraged. We need to “work harder to deliver the change that Americans want” because that was the whole problem…not that they shoved crap down our throats that didn’t work.

    Continuing on that theme, the president said that “We’ve got to keep on working hard until every American sees change.” Never mind that their programs aren’t working…keep shoving crap down their throats until they cry “Uncle” and admit they “see change” because we have to “bring a new era of American prosperity”. Of course that “new prosperity” may have looked like old poverty a few years back.

    We need to “Keep the spirit of hope and change alive.”

    So what did he tell us that we accomplished with our efforts of campaigning for him? Well, how about this doozy; “Troops are back from Iraq and will be back from Afghanistan because of the work” that Democrat volunteers have done. No, seriously, he said that. So the DNC and OFA have fought the wars to a successful conclusion. I’m sure the troops will be grateful when they hear that.

    From Tim Kaine as well as the president I heard lots of talk about “fighting” Republicans and “winning” political battles in the future. I would have liked to heard that he was going to fight against our enemies and winning battles against terrorists who just attempted to attack us last week, but apparently the Republicans are a greater threat to our security.

    I remember he threw out the arrogant “we won” line his first week as president-elect. Where’s the more humble “we lost”?

  • Lawyers to IL to defend absentee voters

    While we were doing the live blog thing last night, I found an article that has disappeared now about a crowd of lawyers who streamed to Illinois to defend some absentee voters who were supposedly denied their right to vote.

    At first I thought “Good! someone’s going to stand up for the troops”. But it wasn’t the troops they were defending. It was some absentee voters who were too lazy to go to the polls in the first place so they registered for absentee ballots…then they were too lazy to mail in their ballots and went to their polling places to vote. Who does that? I guess they heard they could get a free ride or something lazy like that

    Then there was some blather about “provisional ballots” or something or other and the sloths were denied their right to confuse the electoral process. Anyway, lawyers were descending on the scene from across the country.

    Well, that’s just great. Where are the lawyers jumping to the defense of the troops who won’t get to vote in Illinois. The last I heard, there’s a potential for the number to be 2600 troops just in Illinois. They’re more interested in defending some clown who can’t even get to the post office on time.

    Just found the link again;

    And in Illinois, the DSCC has filed Freedom Of Information Act requests to take a look at provisional ballots. According to Illinois law, if a voter requests an absentee ballot and does not use it, they are allowed to go and vote by provisional ballot. However, according to Menendez some were turned away.

  • Fashion trends at West Point

    In case you missed it this weekend, the Army’s football team unveiled new uniforms at their home game against some school called Virginia Military Institute;

    Of course, Army won, and it looks like Miss America was enjoying herself, too;

    Thanks to Tman for the link.
