  • Whatever Happened to the Stalwart Brits of Fame and Legend?

    Stiff upper lip and all that? Not so much anymore… The sun has set on the mighty British Empire and out of the ashes rises not a phoenix, but rather a whiny, politically correct weasel.
    This from the Guardian:

    Counter-terrorism officials are rethinking their approach to tackling the radicalisation of Muslim youth, abandoning what they admit has been offensive and inappropriate language. They say the term “war on terror” will no longer be heard from ministers. Instead, they will use less emotive language, emphasising the criminal nature of the plots and conspiracies. The government in future, they add, will talk of a “struggle” against extremist ideology, rather than a “battle”.
    A “struggle”? What? Do these people not remember the London Tube Bombings?
    Why not call it a Jihad, maybe that will win “Hearts and Minds”…

    Well, it is sadly obvious that the England of Churchill is dead. These Brits have flagged and failed. They no longer have the heart to “go on to the end” to “Fight them on the beaches”. Rather than the beacon of courage and of leadership that Churchill provided, today we are left with a UK that is sadly, apparently, just not up to the fight.The change in approach by counter-terrorism officials is part of plans by the government’s Research, Information, and Communications Unit to counter al-Qaida propaganda and win hearts and minds. In WWII, the British understood that, “When you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow.” But, then I guess it isn’t merely a British problem… Far too many American politicians don’t understand, either.

    They think that this is a problem that can be bested in conference rooms, by negotiations with reasonable men. That, would we just give “a little”, there really could be “Peace in our time.” Folks, I’m here to tell you, Chamberlain was dead wrong. There will not be peace in our time if we negotiate rather than fight. We don’t have time for a second “Phony War”, we need leaders with the guts, the intestinal fortitude, hell, the balls to fight these terrorists abroad before anymore buildings fall in this country, before something worse happens.

    We cannot allow border security to be laughed off as anti-Mexican bias, as bad as illegal immigration is, terrorism is much worse. We don’t want suicide bombers in our clubs and malls. But, I am increasingly afraid it will take another terrorist attack on American soil for some to grasp the simple fact that the terrorists will remain at war with us until one of two things happen; we can either capitulate to their abhorrent demands, or we can treat them as the enemy they are and wipe them out.

    One of the greatest missteps in the Vietnam War, was the gross underestimation of the enemy’s capabilities, the idea that people without the vast technological prowess of the US, were no danger to us was disproved time and again, and yet, some still won’t see it.

  • Prosecutor and Judge Apologize for Sending Illegal Alien to Jail

    Luis Lopez is an illegal alien. While driving drunk, 14 months ago, he got into a car accident that resulted in the death of his brother-in-law. While he has been supporting his sister’s family, which, if he hadn’t killed her husband, wouldn’t need the support, that doesn’t change the fact that he is guilty, and plead guilty, to vehicular manslaughter. Nor does it change the fact that by his mere presence in this country he is committing a crime, a crime, by the way, that he was not prosecuted for, nor, apparently, will he be punished for.
    Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Alexander described the sentencing as a “lose-lose situation” and told the judge she feared “re-victimizing” Mr. Pelaez’s wife and two children.Like the judge though, she said Lopez needed to be punished for getting behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol content of .13 – .05 more than the legal limit in Maryland.

    “He should not have been on the roadway,” she said.

    Ms. Alexander noted Lopez had a clean record before the crash and that the victim’s family did not attend the hearing. She recommended only that Lopez spend some time in jail.
    “Shouldn’t have been on the roadway”. Sweetheart, had he not been in the country illegaly, his brother-in-law (VICTIM) wouldn’t be dead!Yeah, punishing the guy responsible for the death of their husband and father is “Re-victimizing” them.
    Through an interpreter, Lopez himself asked the judge for lenience.“I have never done anything bad in my life,” he said, explaining he regrets everything that happened that night. “I have to do many things to help my big family.” Except for that whole Illegal Immigration thing, and the killing his brother-in-law while driving drunk thing, except for those he’s as pure as the driven snow. What really infuriates me, is that ICE, the re-branded Border Patrol won’t deport a single person from either of these two families. It isn’t that we don’t have the capacity to round up illegals, the powers that be are too gutless to deport them when they are handed to them on a silver platter.

  • Teacher has Sex with Student, Inadvertently Deports Him

    The Sixth Grade Math teacher/basketball coach who fled from Nebraska to Mexico with her 13 yr old lover, managed to do something the federal government is hard pressed to do: she deported an illegal alien. HA!

    As an undocumented migrant, Rodriguez apparently will not be allowed to return to the United States.

    Stay tuned, the activists are certainly going to be all over this.

  • Third world Montgomery County, MD

    Life among the bluest blue staters is is difficult sometimes…this is one of those times. reading the Washington Examiner on my commute this morning, I could feel my blood pressure rise. On page 2 was an article that Montgomery County government flunkies (which borders the District of Columbia on the north and northwest and Virginia across the Potomac River) had heard reports that illegal immigrants are streaming into relatively safe Montgomery County to escape the law enforcement entities in Prince William County ;

    Montgomery County officials have received reports that illegal immigrants from Virginia are moving into the county after several Virginia counties began cracking down on them, officials in the county say.

    Juan, a Peruvian immigrant who declined to give his name because he does not have immigration papers, said that two weeks ago he left a “great job” driving a construction truck in Prince William County because of concerns about deportation. He previously made $16 an hour, had community college tuition partially covered and received health insurance from his Virginia employer. Now, he looks for day labor jobs on a street corner in Wheaton, but he hasn’t found one yet.

    “The police were going to stop me and ask for documents,” said Juan, who lives in Prince George’s County. “I decided not to go [to Virginia] anymore because if they deport me, then I’m not saving any money. … So I stay here, like many people do, because I can’t stay there anymore. My job is there waiting for me, but I can’t go there anymore.”

    Poor Juan. First of all, he’s wrong – the police in Prince William County, VA are only checking the immigration status of people they arrest – so unless Juan is planning on breaking any other laws (besides being here illegally), he probably won’t be checked by Virginia police. And second of all, if he went back to Peru and filed the paperwork he needed to file and proves he has a job here already, he’d probably be able to return quickly. But, I guess it’s just much easier for Juan to move somewhere else and continue being a criminal and complain unanomously to a reporter about it.

    But, see that’s not why I call Montgomery County a 3rd World country – it’s the legal residents of Montgomery County, the natives of Montgomery County that make it like a 3rd World country. Like Ike Leggett, probably the biggest idiot to ever occupy the office of Montgomery County Executive who said;

    “When one jurisdiction tries to force people to move around, they don’t leave,” Leggett said. “They either shift the burden from one community to another, or they go underground. That’s why this is not a solution.”

    First of all, who taught this imbecile to talk-an ape? Secondly, if all of the local governments applied the law equally, there wouldn’t be anyone to shift around – it’s bumbling illiterate morons like Leggett that have created this problem by making it attractive for people to break the law – knowing weak-kneed politicians wouldn’t have the guts to enforce our laws. Idiot Leggett blaming Prince William County for Montgomery County’s illegal immigrant problem is the very definition of ignorant imbecile.

  • Virginia Democrats draw clear line on immigration

    I’ve written a few times on Prince William County, Virginia and their stand against illegal immigrants – they decided that the county won’t pay from the county’s coffers for social programs for people who’ve broken our laws and their police will check the immigration of status of criminals. Well, nearby Fairfax County’s Democrats declare that they absolutely refuse to enforce the laws (Washington Post: The Dividing Line on Illegal Immigrants);

    Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (D) said yesterday that under no circumstances would he follow the lead of Prince William County and push for legislation to cut off services to illegal immigrants or authorize police to check the immigration status of suspects, measures he described as election season demagoguery.

    “I can just tell you Fairfax County is not going to go the route of some of our neighbors,” Connolly, who is seeking a second term as chairman Nov. 6, said during a meeting with Washington Post reporters and editors. “We’re not going to demagogue. We’re not going to essentially roll back the welcome mat. . . . That’s not why I ran for office and that isn’t who we are, and we’re not going to do that.”

    His opponent takes an opposite tack;

    Connolly’s Republican challenger, Gary H. Baise, said at the joint meeting that if elected he would push to enroll Fairfax police in a program run by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that gives selected officers instant access to federal immigration data.

    Fairfax Sheriff Stan G. Barry announced this month that his deputies will enter the federal immigration program to screen suspects already in custody. The Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted last week to allow police to check the immigration status of someone during a routine traffic stop if there is probable cause to believe that person is an illegal resident.

    Well, Fairfax County has a clear choice for next month’s election; do they want someone to run their county that has a respect for the law, or do they want a county supervisor who arbitrarily flaunts laws for political gain? Choosing the latter will also cause an influx of illegal immigrants to cross over the county line from Prince William County to Fairfax so they avoid the legal implications of being a criminal – and to drain off Fairfax County’s social spending assets.

    Connelly uses his pretzel-shaped logic to explain why PW County’s plan won’t work in Fairfax;

    Connolly cautioned that such an expansion would drive a dangerous wedge between police and immigrants — making them reluctant to cooperate with investigations — and heighten the danger of racial profiling by officers. He said Fairfax Police Chief David M. Rohrer would be reluctant to involve his officers.

    “We need their cooperation for public safety and health,” Connolly said of immigrants.

    Imagine that; criminals will be afraid to assist the police, and the police wouldn’t be able to avoid focusing on the criminal community. And apparently, the pliant Fairfaxers need the cooperation of proven lawbreakers for their public safety. I’d like to see a wire diagram of how that works.

    Democrats are hoping that illegal immigrants will eventually get amnesty and their support of lawbreakers at this early point in time will attract the future voters to their party when amnesty happens. But who’s surprised that the party of sociopaths are recruting from the ranks of law breakers?

  • Judge orders ‘migras’ to stand down

    In this bizarre world in which we live, a San Francisco Federal judge has told Homeland Security Department and the Social Security Administration (notice the use of the word “security” in both agencies) to stop enforcing Federal law according to Washington Times’ Jerry Seper;

    A federal judge in San Francisco yesterday blocked plans by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to crack down on employers who hire illegal aliens.

    U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer issued an order saying the agencies could not go forward with plans announced in August to send letters warning employers they face stiff penalties — including fines of up to $10,000 — if they hire workers whose Social Security numbers do not match their names.

    Judge Breyer, appointed by President Clinton in 1997, said the new work-site rules likely would impose hardships on businesses and their workers, adding that the plaintiffs had “demonstrated they will be irreparably harmed” if the rules are enforced.

    Hmmm – San Francisco, Clinton appointee, ignore the law…I’m beginning to see a pattern here. So the Administration – the branch of government which “executes” the laws (hence the name “Executive Branch”) of the legislative branch – has been ordered by the third branch of government – the judiciary – to stop enforcing the laws designed to protect American citizens.

    So I guess employers now know that they have another year to flaunt our laws and to exploit the underground population. And potential illegals know that they’ve got a year to get here and the terrorists know they have a year to hide in the illegal population to plan their next attack. So it works out for everyone – well, except the American people who’ve been calling for the laws to be enforced for the protection that enforcement might provide.

    But, see, this wasn’t a plan by the administration to begin enforcing any laws – the judge blocked the agencies from MAILING A LETTER (Effort to Curb Illegal Workers’ Hiring Blocked – Washington Post);

    In a 22-page ruling, Breyer said the plaintiffs — an unusual coalition that included the AFL-CIO, the American Civil Liberties Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — had raised serious questions about the legality of the administration’s plan to mail Social Security “no-match” letters to 140,000 U.S. employers.

    “There can be no doubt that the effects of the rule’s implementation will be severe,” Breyer wrote, resulting in “irreparable harm to innocent workers and employers.”

    Innocent workers and employers – who are employed and employing illegally – how are they innocent? They know they’re breaking the law, so what exactly are they innocent of?

    What kind of Bizarro World do they live in out there?

  • PW County protest weak, Frederick caves

    Two stories in the Washington post this morning about the on-going illegal immigrants problem. In Virginia, where Prince William County legislators ordered that county services wouldn’t be provided to people who refuse to prove their immigration status, a “day without illegals” fizzled according to Washington Post’s Cecilia Kang and Karin Brulliard in “Hispanics Protest, but Impact Questioned

    A work boycott called to protest Prince William County’s proposed crackdown on illegal immigrants appeared to have limited impact yesterday as construction sites, restaurants and retail stores hummed with business as usual.

    The one-day stoppage, organized by the immigrant advocacy group Mexicans Without Borders, did cause a smattering of businesses to operate with smaller staffs or close.

    La Azteca Latina, a small grocery in Woodbridge, closed after two hours while its owner and employees attended a rally. Ten employees of a waterproofing company in Woodbridge walked off their jobs in the morning, even though their employer threatened that they wouldn’t be able to work for the rest of the week.

    “We’re doing it for our own good. And if the boss doesn’t like it, well, we will look for other work,” said Ruben Garcia, 28, of Woodbridge.

    That’d probably solve a lot of problems – looking for other work. I’ve noticed that no one protests by working harder to prove their worth – only by stopping work. In this case, probably neither would have been noticed. When you call yourselves “Mexicans Without Borders”, you probably don’t do your cause any good, either. There are borders, and you wouldn’t be a Mexican without a border since Mexican isn’t a race.

    Meanwhile Frederick, Maryland caves in even though Prince William County, across the Potomac didn’t. In “Frederick Votes No On Denying Immigrants” Philip Rucker reports;

    In a 3 to 2 vote, Frederick County commissioners rejected a proposal yesterday that would have denied public services, including schooling, to immigrants in the United States illegally, deciding not to follow the lead of Prince William and Loudoun counties.

    But the Frederick board unanimously approved resolutions to Congress and the Maryland legislature calling on lawmakers to reform immigration policies. The resolutions state that the rapid influx of immigrants is creating social tension in Frederick and is taxing the local government, which is facing rising costs for Spanish-language interpreters and other services.

    In other words, the county commissioners spinelessly decided to pass the buck to the state and federal legislators, instead of doing the job they’re paid to do. Imitating New Orleans’ residents after Katrina, Frederick’s government yells “help us!” at the cameras instead of taking control of their situation. Politically safe. Economically disasterous. If we stopped providing all of these goodies to the criminals who cross our borders without our permission, they’d stop coming.

    Yes, I watched the news last night and I saw all of the whining do-gooders cry that this legislation would “only hurt the children” of illegal immigants and that Frederick’s residents didn’t want that stigma attached to their reputation – look, folks, it’s not your fault that these parents decided to drag their kids to this country illegally. The illegal immigrant parents who made that conscious decision are responsible for their kids – not you – not us.

    I know, I have an anonomous commenter here who tells me there’s a special place in Hell for people like me because of these remarks against lawbreakers – I only hope that special place is far from the whining enablers that keep attracting lawbreakers to this country.

  • Sowing unwarranted fear in the Latin community

    I read somewhere that the freedom of speech doesn’t include yelling ‘Fire’ in a crowded theater. If that’s true, then I suppose the freedom of the press doesn’t include yelling ‘Migra!’ in Prince William County as the Washington Post’s Pamela Constable does this morning.

    Although not yet enacted into law, the resolution passed by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors has created a sense of siege and solidarity throughout the county’s wider Latino community of about 30,000. Rumors circulate that people will be arrested if they board buses or drop off their children at school. Some legal residents, who bought homes and opened businesses, expecting to stay for years, say they are thinking of leaving.

    That seems innocuous enough, however, Constable, in two pages of writing, doesn’t ever tell us what the measure includes. You have to go elswehere to find out what this racist legislation is;

    The bill would require police to check the residency status of anyone suspected of breaking the law. The bill would also require schools, libraries, and swimming pools to verify the immigration status of anyone using county services.

    Oh, my goodness – how draconian. Imagine making taxpayers identify themselves before using the services they pay for with their taxes. imagine making criminals identify themselves. How absolutely horrible. Actually, I think it’s horrible that it hasn’t been done up to this point.

    A sense of seige. Having to identify yourself creates a sense of seige. Funny – I have to identify myself all of the time. My wife, the legal Latin immigrant, has to identify herself all of the time. In fact, in the DC area nearly everyone has to identify themselves constantly – we all have ID badges and pass through security every time we enter or leave a building. I don’t feel under seige. Of course, I might if I’d committed a criminal act and I was worried about being arrested all of the time – but that’s not the case.

    And it appears that it’s working, according to Constable;

    Gilbert Mejia, a Salvadoran restaurant owner, was the host of a recent meeting at his La Frontera restaurant in Gaithersburg. He said the fear of arrest and harassment among Latino immigrants has become so widespread that business at his restaurant has fallen sharply this summer.

    “Look at this place. Normally, we would be full for lunch,” said Mejia, gesturing around a room full of empty tables. “People are afraid the attitude from Prince William will drift here, that Maryland will be the next target. I have been in this country 27 years, and I’ve invested hundreds of thousands of dollars. We need to know what’s coming our way.”

    Of course, we can’t have a WaPo story without hyperbole;

    One was Jesus Calva, 40, who lives with his wife and two children in Lake Ridge, a woodsy townhouse community. Calva entered the United States illegally as a teenager and started working as a tree trimmer for $3 an hour. Today, he makes $27 an hour with a large construction company, and he helped rebuild the Pentagon after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack. On his living room wall is a certificate of thanks signed by former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.

    “I have always appreciated this country, and it really upsets me to hear about this law,” said Calva, who spoke briefly at last Tuesday’s hearing. Afterward, he strode outside, sat down on a curb and began to weep in frustration. “Even when I was illegal, I worked hard for everything I got, and I paid a lot of taxes,” he said. “If they don’t like us, why don’t they just say so? I love my home, but I don’t want to live in a place where I am hated.”

    Um, Jesus, no one has said they “hate” you. It’s just that those of us who’ve built this country into the economic and cultural powerhouse it’s become don’t want it to fall into the desperate morass of the other American countries. Anyone looking at this issue with open eyes (instead of a closed racist mind) would have to admit that illegal immigration needs to be blunted – now!

    Every story about immigrants in the Washington Post has some poor LEGAL immigrant whining that they’re going to lose their civil rights because they might have an accent or wear sandals or something. Like what happened to Cheech Marin in “Born in East LA” – a movie, not based on actual experiences, a work of complete fantasy – including the required happy ending. I’m pretty sure a check of ICE’s records would reveal that it’s never happened – I carry ID everytime I leave the house, I carry my passport everytime I leave the hotel in Central America. I really don’t see what’s so damn difficult about doing it here.
