  • Washington Post: Top Secret America

    The Washington Post has published an interactive website that seeks to uncover the secrecy of the American defense network pronouncing that it’s “A hidden world, growing beyond control”. The defense network is a little worried about the Washington Post’s story, since obviously, it exposes some companies to espionage and terrorism that were never exposed before.

    The Pentagon warned contractors last week about the article with letters like this one that I found in my inter-web travels;

    After quickly going through some of the stuff that the Washington Post put up online, I noticed that one of the two main “reporters” on this article is William Arkin. You remember Arkin, right? back in early 2007, Arkin wrote a column about how the US troops don’t appreciate regular Americans enough. That they really have cushy jobs and get more pay and “obscene amenities” than they deserve. At the time, I did some research on Arkin’s background. This is what I found about him on Peace.net – where his bio has disappeared;

    His bio claims he was an intel weinie who “engaged in a number of covert intelligence collection projects” which means someone let him debrief an infantry patrol occasionally – which is probably why he hates real soldiers. Why would an intelligence analyst go to work for Greenpeace as their “military specialist”?

    That article has understandably disappeared from the internet, so has the one in which he called our troops mercenaries. He was a pogue back in the 70’s in Berlin for a few years, so how does that make him an expert on defense policy? Well, because after his service, he worked for Greenpeace, Human Rights Watch and his email address links back to the “Institute for Global Communications” – the parent of Peace.net and Labor.net so that makes him an expert on those opposed to our defense policies.

    Later that year, Arkin was disappointed that he wasn’t invited to the Milblog Conference. Aside from the fact that no one gets a personal invitation, why would the milblogs invite the idiot pogue who doesn’t appreciate the troops.

    There’s more on the Post toy for hippies at RedState.

    Bill O’Reilly, tracked down Arkin in Vermont back in 2007, probably the last worthwhile thing that O’Reilly ever did;

  • Peace loving Hippie attacks “Baby Killers”

    Power Point Ranger sends us an article about a poor, peace-loving hippie who was only expressing his right to free speech by busting a baby killing Defense Language Institute student in the head with a bottle when he was suddenly victimized by the police;

    Tyler Tirado, 20, a former Pacific Grove resident, was arrested Wednesday about 9:30 a.m. at a Monterey home after being identified by witnesses and a photo lineup, police Cmdr. John Miller said.

    The victim, a 20-year-old servicewoman at DLI, was treated for a one-inch cut on her scalp, police said.

    The incident arose after two groups of 10 to 20 people each, in their late teens to early 20s, were at the beach about 11:50 p.m.

    When members of one group, who described themselves as “locals,” learned the other group were military personnel, they began shouting derogatory comments, referring to the servicemen and women as “baby killers,” police said.

    The DLI group started to leave to avoid an altercation, police said, and one person from the other group threw a beer bottle that hit the woman. The attacker fled, police said.

    Don’t the police respect the moral superiority of young Tyler Tirado? Surely, he’ll be exonerated by the judge on First Amendment grounds. Aside from exhuming a Vietnam era slur, which was hyperbolic in it’s day as it is now, mighty Tirado should be praised for his ability to flee the scene and resisting the impulse to lend aid to the obvious faker gushing blood from her wound.

    Cheers to you and your parents, Tyler, for your obviously exemplary upbringing. I hope you choke on it.

    By the way, this sounds like any hate crime laws in California should be applied in this case since these soldiers were attacked for what they are rather than who they are. Fair is fair.

  • Worth bringing up over 30 years later.

    With all this flag burning going on within the IVAW I thought that this was worth posting about. Also since that for a good number of people to include myself that this is the first time to read about it,

    Rick Monday saves the US Flag.

    I mean it is interesting story to read and watch. This was just after the Vietnam War and despite that the reaction of the people in the stands is very encouraging. Also the Patriot Guards caught up with Rick Monday who still has that flag.

  • What’s in a name (or a report)

    Well one of the newest thing going around thanks to the group Rethink Afghanistan. The report is this one by a independent group titled The Effect of Civilian Casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq. So of course Rethink Afghanistan jumps all over it with this follow up story.

    Yea like we are not trying to do this already.

    Also the photo is worth a look.

    A few things come to mind. The first is a absolute desire from the person taking the photo to cause the viewer to become distanced from the Solider. Following that it is trying to do the opposite with the children in the photo. Lastly, does it not look like there is a cap on that M16?

    It is just frustrating I mean that people do not see things like this. I mean how would it change the story if they used a photo like this instead?

    Oh if that was not enough, Russia media is now claiming that the US military sent “Hardcore Neo-Nazi’s” to Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • The disconnect between the military and civilians

    Language warning – because I hate hippies so fucking much.
    TSO sent us this article from Frank Schaeffer in the Huffington Post entitled “McChrystal’s Disdain: Symptom of a Mercenary Force With Few Ties to Civilian Leaders”. Apparently Schaeffer’s claim to fame is that he wrote two books about how hippies don’t get military service. The first was in response to his son joining the Marines;

    As a typical member of the white upper middle classes, as a writer living in Boston and as someone who never served, I was shocked by his choice.

    My son John and I wrote a book describing our journey together to a place where I came to value the military and he came to understand my post-Vietnam parental anxiety….

    Yeah, there’s the disconnect, dipshit – some of us are called to the profession while others write idiot books about fucking “journeys”. I don’t know what this clown thought being white had to do with military service when the majority of people in the military are white – like the rest of America. But I digress….

    In 1976, most of the military identified as Independent, while 33 percent identified as Republican (still a larger proportion than the general public). But the armed services have abandoned this neutrality. Now 60 percent considered themselves Republican, and only seventeen percent considered themselves Independent.

    What happened after 1976, numbnuts? Well, the first thing that happened the following year was your idiot hippie President gave amnesty to all of the other hippies that dodged the draft and fled to Canada and just generally and flagrantly thumbed their noses at honorable service to the country. Your idiot hippie president demeaned service in the military – and then he let the members of the military slide into poverty with paltry pay raises and barracks conditions that made us long for conditions like Walter Reed’s outpatient barracks. Oh, but he did give us a huge pay raise – a month before the 1980 election.

    Ronald Reagan gave us pay raises, improved our living conditions, gave us new equipment, defined our mission, gave us the resources to train to a standard related to the mission…all the while, Democrats in Congress complained that he was spending the country into debt while their useless welfare programs poured money into the streets. How would you expect us to act?

    When we finally got a chance to rebuild the image of the country in Honduras, Nicaragua, Grenada, Panama, Iraq and we toppled the Soviet Empire, all we heard was whining from Democrats while they continued to pour money into the streets of a welfare nation.

    Schaeffer ends his little treatise with this;

    We now have a civilian leadership with no military experience in charge of a mercenary professional force with few personal (let alone empathetic) ties to our leaders.

    And that force is no longer protecting America only but rather projecting imperial overreach that will lead to more and more loss of American lives for no reason. Expect more trouble.

    You hippie fucks didn’t want to be bothered with military service so you protested the draft – the only thing that disrupted your perfect little impetuous lives and now you tremble in fear when one general expresses regret that the president doesn’t take his advice? I don’t see Schaeffer running down to the recruiting office to help avoid this problem. Just like when he was a younger hippie, he’s punting the problem off to someone else to rectify…all the while taking cheap shots at the military which he now warns is an “imperial” power (how far back in his hippie vocabulary was that word?) Would he hesitate before calling his son an imperialist? Those generals he fears are someone else’s sons, no different from his own.

    These fucking hippies with kids in the military should shut their fucking traps.

  • Dirty Olympia Hippies, God I hate Dirty Olympia Hippies

    The moonbats are striking in Olympia again, wonder if old LTCPFC Nurse Mooseknucle McCIB from a few weeks ago was there. I’m guessing he was. From the dirty smelly bastards’ own website:

    Tacoma, WA – Activists staged a series of successful direct actions in several locations on the night of May 2, blocking striker vehicles bound for the Port of Tacoma from Fort Lewis. Blockades halted strikers at several points along Interstate 5, and 11 activists were arrested. Demonstrators have pledged to continue resisting the use of the port for war shipments.

    The Stryker vehicles were heading to the Port of Tacoma for eventual shipment to Afghanistan in advance of the deployment of the 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, where soldiers’ skills and lives would be exploited in the name of the “War on Terror.”

    At times police used excessive force against unarmed nonviolent demonstrators. One woman was choked on the strap of her messenger bag while another demonstrator was dragged across the road by his hair while he was shouting that he was nonviolent.

    Wow, that really sounds horrible, imagine how many times this poor cop had to take the pumice stone to his hand to get the stink of hippie off him.

    A few quick things.
    1) The hippies will not stop the Strykers.
    2) This will cost the city a shit load of money.
    3) I hope a hippie gets run over, and they have a pancake breakfast for them.
    4) The dirty smelly hippies are all the children of rich parents.
    5) The DSHs are all selfish little shits, because the only thing this accomplishes is it keeps poor joe from getting to sleep at a normal hour because he has to wait for the cops to beat down the freaks.
    6) This is the Police Dept of Olympia. We should look into an “Adopt a Baton” program. Place bets on the internet on which Baton is the first to crack a DSH up-side the head? Something like that?
    7) Chief Michel clearly wishes he had Richard A. Gabriel’s FAR MORE MANLY moustache.

    8) Guess where the DSHs are meeting up afterwards? If you guessed the IVAW Coffeehouse, you guessed right.
    9) The only man I trust to deal with a fullscale DSH invasion is a cartoon.
