  • Bleeding Hearts . . . and Bloody Hands

    Today is the anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings.  We’ll doubtless hear great hue and cry from our liberal “brethren” about that, and about how “evil guns” killed innocents.

    Yeah, they’re lying – and they know it.  But that won’t stop many clueless schmucks from lapping it up.  And the media will be there to broadcast the false outrage and tears.

    They’re using innocents murdered by a lunatic as political props. I wish I could say that shocks me. But coming from the “Progressive” side, it doesn’t.  They do crap like that all the time.

    The hypocrisy, though, disgusts me. Because if anyone besides the shooter, Adam Lanza, is to blame for Sandy Hook – it’s our Bleeding-Heart Liberal “Brethren”.

  • NRA News; Dom Raso: Vets

    The folks at the NRA send us their latest commentary from former Navy SEAL Dom Raso who talks about veterans losing their Second Amendment rights;

    When a vet is eligible for disability compensation or other benefits, they go through an evaluation process. The way it’s set up right now, if the vet has someone else appointed to manage those benefits on their behalf, they somehow get labeled “mentally defective” and are entered into a background check system as someone unable to buy a gun. This is absolutely wrong. The VA’s review process for assigning a bookkeeper to a veteran in no way determines whether that veteran poses a risk to himself or others. It’s only meant to determine whether or not a veteran needs help managing his or her VA benefits. That has nothing to do with their ability to safely exercise their Second Amendment rights.

  • How we can lose the gun control debate

    We gun owners and the NRA still control the gun control debate, mostly because we’ve all proven that we’re the only ones telling the truth. The gun grabbers have a habit of making shit up about us that they can’t substantiate, but it plays to the crowd that they’re trying to influence. Like the ditz who went out and bought a gun without even knowing how to load it, let alone how to aim and fire it, thinking that her inexperience said more about us than her side of the discussion spectrum.

    For about the last year, we here at TAH have almost daily posted “Feel Good Stories” which reported the legal use by private citizens of firearms to protect themselves, their families and the property. Out of those hundreds of stories that we posted, only one proved to be false – it was false even though we verified it through three local news stations and only because some mentally deficient guy made a false report to police.

    Lately, though, I’ve seen false reports spring up all over the internet, especially in the last two or three weeks. Stories about an old lady blowing away two kids who were playing knockout, stories about various governments seizing weapons from legal gun owners, you know stuff like that. You’ve seen them, too.

    But, we track the stories back to their sources and they’ve all proved to be false, made up by creative writers, and many track back to the same blogs or websites over and over. Some doofus will write a story in a forum and the whole world wants to link to it, because it says what we want to hear. Like the gun grabbers believe everything that they like to hear.

    As TAH has proven with our “feel good stories”, there’s enough real evidence that responsible gun owners are saving themselves and their families from evil doers that we don’t need to make stuff up. Yet, here are people making stuff because they want to influence the discussion, but untrue stories don’t really prove anything, except that some of the people on the internet are irresponsible. Just because you can supply a link, that doesn’t make the story true. And it proves that both extremes of this gun control debate aren’t above making shit up.

  • Black Friday gun deals abound

    The Washington Times says that the FBI performed 154,873 background checks yesterday as the long drought of the available guns seems to have ended. They report that it’s three times the number of any given day over the last year;

    The actual number of guns sold was likely even higher. The FBI only tracks background checks, not sales — and weapons buyers can purchase more than one weapon at a time.

    In the first ten months of this year, the FBI performed 17,238,102 background checks, which gun dealers say is actually a slower market, The Huffington Post reported. The panic-buys of 2012, fueled by President Obama’s vow to crack down on gun violence via more Second Amendment regulations, has cooled off slightly, they say. So they’ve ratcheted their marketing for this year’s holiday season, with Black Friday price-cuts abound.

    I’ve noticed that the guns I’ve been looking for over the last year are appearing more often on Guns America and Gun Broker. I even picked up ammo for my .338 Lapua Mag for about half of what I paid for it seven months ago. Prices haven’t come down to the level they were in the Spring of 2012, but they’re getting there.

    But I got an mail ad for a Black Friday sale from one of the ammo dealers and when I went to their website, most of the ammo I was looking at was out of stock still. So, I guess it’s not over yet.

  • NRA News; Colion Noir; Gun Safety?

    I read that you guys were missing Colion Noir the other day, and the folks at NRA News sent us his latest video entitled Gun Safety? “In the political world, gun safety doesn’t mean what you think.”

    Somewhere between screaming for gun control and then being called out for actually wanting gun confiscation, the anti-gunners decided to change the phrase “gun control” to “gun safety.” I wonder why they would do that. I mean, whether you call it 2G, 4G, or 9G, you’re still screwing me with the same slow ass Internet speeds, the same way anti-gunners are trying to force feed us the “gun safety” placebo….

    Listen to the rest;

  • NRA News; Natalie Foster

    The folks at the NRA sent us a video by Natalie Foster who explains how gun companies aren’t as irresponsible as the media and the Left, in general, portray them;

  • John Stossel can’t get a gun

    Andy sends us this video of Fox News’ John Stossel who decided because he needs to protect himself from crazies who post death threats to him on the internet, he applies for a gun permit in New York City. yeah, well, we all know how that turns out;

    Out here in real America, we got to the local shop and pick out a gun and walk out with it. Some states have waiting periods, but here in real America, that’s not a problem. Some states have a law which only allows you to buy one gun a month – that’s pretty stupid. Out here in real America you buy two guns in the same store at the same time and you only have to prove that you’re a resident of the state.

    I get death threats, but no one has ever showed up here to fulfill their dream. You and I both know that Paul Wickre would have been here by now to bully me, except that he’s deterred by my fairly large collection of firearms. I have a Sig Sauer 1911 on my lap right now. He tried to get my guns when he filed a peace order against me. He told the authorities that I had “automatic Ar-15s and Glocks” – you know the scariest guns he could think of. The only reason that I can think that he’d want to take my guns is because he wanted to come to my house and beat me in front of my wife, like he threatened to do. Well, a Maryland judge can’t take the guns of a West Virginia resident, so I still have all of my guns. And another crime is deterred by gun ownership.

    And oh, Wickre dropped his Peace Order, anyway, when TSO and I both showed up at the hearing despite his telephonic threats against us before the hearing. The big sissy. TSO is writing a post about our further exploits with Paul Wickre so look for that coming up.

  • Open carry activists scare us?

    Chief Tango sent us a link to a Daily Beast article which charges that the recent rash of open carry activists parading around in public spaces with their scary black guns is scaring folks away from support for the Second Amendment;

    The incident is the latest headline-grabbing showdown involving open carry activists, who want the unconcealed carrying of firearms to be as normal as holding a cell phone. In groups armed with rifles and Gadsden flags, they’ve demonstrated at the site of President Kennedy’s assassination. They walk alone through state capitol buildings, and Home Depots, baiting police officers and frightening workers and ordinary citizens.

    The brazen antics of this mainly libertarian coalition—think of them as the tea partiers of the gun rights’ movement—have had the unlikely effect of placing gun rights groups, law enforcement officials, and control advocates aligned in opposition. Legally, open carry activists are within their rights, protected, as they’re quick to remind their challengers, by the first and second amendment. But when does this type of protest become a menace, to the public’s safety and to the group’s own message of freedom?

    I’ve remained largely silent on the whole thing although I fully support the open carry thing, the other side should be more concerned about the criminals who are carrying guns than peaceful activists. I fully understand the concerns that police might have, but none of those activists have opened fire on the unarmed. They have a right to be armed, if States allow it and just because a few anti-gun people are shaking in their Birkenstocks is not much reason to be harassing them. I don’t know about any incidents of open carrying folks committing crimes.

    I’m not an open carry kind of guy and I fully understand their position, but if they’re open carrying their weapons they give the criminal something else to shoot at while I’m pulling out my concealed handgun.
