  • VoteVets wants your guns

    TSO sent us this video from VoteVets in which dicksmith tells us that our gun laws are helping terrorists buy guns and he advocates “closing the terror gap” in our gun laws;

    I don’t know how they plan to stop potential terrorists from buying weapons when they’re not on a terror watch list and fully qualified to buy guns. Is he saying that gun dealers should profile? Somehow, I don’t think so.

    While I’m all for preventing terrorists from arming themselves using our own gun laws against us, I don’t see a solution that doesn’t prevent the rest of us from buying guns. And I certainly don’t trust the polesmokers at VoteVets to participate in constructing any restrictions with their known connections to MoveOn and George Soros.

  • Bloomberg and guns again

    The New York Post reports that the city’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg launched another pointless sting against gun owners and PRIVATE sellers. This time on the internet;

    Investigators searched 10 websites with 25,000 guns available for sale and, posing as buyers, contacted 125 sellers in 14 states.

    They then began negotiating their purchases, admitting during each exchange that they couldn’t pass a background check.

    That should have sounded the alarm bells, since federal law prohibits weapons sales to such dicey individuals.

    But officials said only 48 of the 125 sellers followed the law.

    They said sellers on Craigslist — which supposedly prohibits the sale of firearms on its site — failed the integrity test most often, 82 percent of the time.

    Yes, this is despicable. Yes, I only want law abiding gun owners, but what is the point of this sting? These are PRIVATE sellers who don’t have licenses that can be revoked or restricted further. What does Bloomberg want to happen? Forbidding gun sales on the internet? Apparently these private sellers really don’t care who ends up with their guns, so forbidding gun sales on the internet won’t stop them.

    Witness: Craigslist doesn’t allow people to sell guns on their website, but people do it anyway. So by passing more laws to restrict them won’t do anything except restrict people who DO respect the law.

    But then Bloomberg is a liberal and the only thing that matters in liberalism is to look as if he’s concerned about an issue. Whether he can do anything constructive is irrelevant.

    Go watch the video at the link and if you don’t want to punch Bloomberg in his smarmy face, you’re a better than I.

    By the way, look at how Bloomberg blames the Ruger P95 9mm instead of the person who shot the police officer Bloomberg is talking about. Because guns kill people all by themselves. That’s why mine are in a gun safe so they don’t hunt me at night.

    On a related note, firearm sales are up this holiday season according to a Sacramento CBS station;

    This surge in gun sales — the best holiday sales season in three years, according to the Firearms Dealers Association — got a shot in the arm on Black Friday.

    “Black Friday sales were off the charts this year,” a TDS employee said.

    That’s good news…more gun owners mean fewer Obama Democrats.

  • Unrepentant Holder

    Even though the top law enforcement officer in the country, Attorney General Holder admitted that under his leadership thousands of repeating, assault-style weapons were bought with tax payer dollars and transferred into the hands of the enemies of law-abiding Americans and that those weapons will “continue to show up at crime scenes in the U.S. and Mexico for years to come” – he still won’t admit that it was ultimately his responsibility. Fox News link;

    Holder, in testimony on Capitol Hill that comes as the congressional investigation into the program expands, decried the “gun-walking” tactic used in the operation as “inexcusable” and “wholly unacceptable.” But a day after an influential senator called for the resignation of one of Holder’s top deputies over the scandal, Holder denied department leaders played any role in the crafting of “Fast and Furious.”

    He continued to assert that top Justice officials were not told about the “inappropriate tactics” until they were made public.

    Thousands of thugs are running around with weapons purchased in the United States with our tax money and all he can muster is “inexcusable” and “wholly unacceptable”. Then they plotted to blame it on gun dealers and our gun laws to take away some of our rights.

    The anti=Bush crowd got bent out of shape when they found about the Bush Administration wiretapping terrorists calling the US, but they can’t get exercised about this plot to curtail American civil liberties?

    I expect Occupy DC will be marching on the DoJ any minute now to protest the crimes Holder and his crowd perpetrated on the American people.

    You can’t see it, but this is my bated-breath face,

  • GA man faces105 years for defending his property

    Byron sends us a link to the story of David Sturdivant, the 64-year-old Marine Purple Heart recipient, who made the mistake of shooting at a man who was stealing from his shop while the cops were nearby filming a truTV show. (Atlanta Journal Constitution link)

    According to police reports, Sturdivant awoke on that Friday afternoon to see Dennis Alexander in his yard. Alexander’s pickup was parked beside the engine repair shop attached to Sturdivant’s house and one of the riding lawnmowers in for repair was positioned near the open tailgate to the bed of the Dodge Ram. Alexander, jailed several times for property crimes but not charged in this case, told police he was there to buy parts.

    “Get off my property and stop stealing my stuff,” Sturdivant shouted at Alexander from the second-floor balcony.

    When Alexander didn’t depart, Sturdivant fired a single round from his commercial M14 which brought the TC star cos running and firing. It’s not clear if Sturdivant pointed his gun at cops, but he was wounded and lost his kidney as a result. While Sturdivant has been in jail awaiting trial, his house has burned and his shop has been stripped by criminals and he could lose his veteran benefits. He could have pleaded guilty to lesser charges, but Sturdivant feels he didn’t do anything wrong. I agree.

    He was protecting his property from a known criminal a few yards from the cops who playing TV stars. In retrospect, he probably should have called the police before he took his shot, though, but that’s no excuseto let him lose everything. the prosecutor is obviously being a dick.

  • What did Holder know and when did he know it?

    In regards to the “Fast and Furious” operation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ failed project to interdict arms trafficking to Mexico from border gun dealers, Eric Holder, the Attorney General claimed to Congressional inquisitors that he had only discovered the operation weeks before his testimony. However documents show that he may have known about F&F as long ago as July, 2010 according to The Washington Times;

    A July 10, 2010, memo to Mr. Holder from Michael Walther, director of the National Drug Intelligence Center (NDIC), specifically identifies the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives-led Fast and Furious operation, says when it began, names the federal law enforcement agencies involved, and identifies the major investigative targets.

    The memo, sent to Mr. Holder through the office of the acting deputy attorney general, also notes that the operation involved a Phoenix-based firearms-trafficking ring and says “straw purchasers” were responsible for buying 1,500 firearms “that were then supplied to Mexican drug-trafficking cartels.”

    From the Daily Caller;

    “Attorney General Holder has failed to give Congress and the American people an honest account of what he and other senior Justice Department officials knew about gun-walking and Operation Fast and Furious,” Issa said in the statement. “The lack of candor and honesty from our nation’s chief law enforcement officials in this matter is deeply disturbing.”

    So, Holder lied while good men died.

  • Ditz: carrying weapon does more harm than good

    This ditz, Cary Carr, tells the story of how a man was shot by a 15-year-old thief, the victim, licensed to carry a concealed weapon, drew his own gun and shot the fleeing teen in the back and somehwo this doesn’t make her feel any safer. I guess that the fact that a 15-year-old running around her streets with a gun did make her feel safe?

    This incident led me to wonder how many more students make the decision to carry weapons and not just guns. What’s really going to stop someone from bringing their weapon on campus? After all, aren’t these students carrying in order to feel protected when walking from classes or activities to their off-campus residencies? That doesn’t make me feel protected.

    Dr. Jennifer Wood, associate professor in the department of criminal justice, said that guns only add to the problem and that the answer to safety may lie in Temple’s environmental approach.

    “[Carrying guns] is obviously not a solution at all,” Wood said. “If anything it contributes to a climate of fear.”

    Well, if the victim used his gun, apparently he didn’t feel safe on campus with good reason. And asking a professor about gun control is like asking a pig about the importance of hygiene. “Doctor” Jennifer Wood would have us all throw open our doors and allow the criminals to take whatever they want…well, except for Dr. Wood’s stuff.

    If the criminals are carrying guns, obviously, the law abiding public needs to be similarly armed and trained.

    Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe improving our relationships with community members won’t solve anything. But I would rather try all my alternatives and put a little faith in my neighborhood before I resort to carrying a lethal weapon. Knowing I possessed the ability to hurt or even kill another individual wouldn’t make me feel any safer.

    Yeah, a liberal is just a conservative who hasn’t been mugged yet.

    Thanks to ROS for the link.

  • Boston to restrict knife sales

    ROS sends us a link to The Blaze in which these two dildos claim that cheap knives aren’t regulated well-enough in Boston so they think that putting restrictions on sellers are the answer. Hey! It worked with guns right?

    Knife Safety: MyFoxBOSTON.com

    If you say “close the loophole” enough times, people might think that you’re proposing something to protect them, huh?

    So, they banned guns from Boston and got 1300 stabbings this year. What’s next? Baseball bats, frying pans? Cars?

    So what are they calling dangerous knives? Lock blades, Buck Knives, and ooooooooh….scary-ass machetes, apparently the AK47 or Glock of edged weapons. They can be purchased for less than ten dollars and any kid off the street can buy them. Well, the ones who have ten dollars.

    Maybe they can force people to tie pillows to their asses to protect them from falls.

  • Bloomberg calls for tougher gun laws when 24 NYers are shot in 24 hours

    Apparently, it’s Washington’s fault that New Yorkers are getting shot;

    Twenty-four New Yorkers were hit by gunfire, one fatally, over 24 hours of violence this weekend, prompting Mayor Bloomberg to call the bloody stretch “unconscionable” and demand action from Washington.

    The eruption of shootings from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday left the mayor livid and the parents of three wounded children distraught and angry.

    Since handguns are illegal in new York City for most residents, I don’t how the laws could get tougher, unless they have a requirement for the criminals to take a marksmanship course before they go out on their shooting sprees.

    And what “action” does Bloomberg the boob think that Washington can take?

    The mayor called on all federal politicians, regardless of party, to get on the same page .

    “Both ends of Pennsylvania Ave., both sides of the aisle,” he said. “We cannot continue to have these guns in the hands of kids who don’t understand the value of life.”

    Well, then, enforce your own laws, mayor. Funny how politicians are always able to blame someone other than them-stupid-selves for their own failings. Give every law abiding New Yorker a gun and see how many criminals are willing to open fire on crowds when there’s a chance they could catch some inbound lead.
