  • Flag officers for disarmament

    This ad was paid for by Nanny Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns and stars some flag officers who apparently don’t give a tiny rat’s ass about the Second Amendment;

    Featured in the ad are Rear Admiral (Ret.) James A. Barnett Jr., USN; Brigadier General (Ret.) Stephen A. Cheney, USMC; Major General (Ret.) Paul Eaton, USA; RADM Malcolm MacKinnon III, USN (Ret.); Lieutenant General (Ret.) Charles P. Otstott, USA; and Brigadier General (Ret.) Stephen N. Xenakis, MD, USA.

    “These generals and admirals are warriors, defenders, heroes and gun owners. They have witnessed the devastating effects of assault weapons, and more than anyone, they know that these weapons have no place in our neighborhoods,” said Mayors Against Illegal Guns Co-Chair and Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. “We are grateful to have these heroes join Americans across the country in the battle for legislation that will save lives and protect our children.”

    Yeah, they’re real heroes, because Bloomberg and his gang of morons don’t want to disarm criminals, they want to disarm legal gun owners. Real f’n heroes. More like cowardly political animals.

  • Cuomo patches up SAFE Act

    Apparently, the New York legislators and their vaunted governor have decided that they moved too fast too pass their SAFE Act. The first week, they discovered that cops weren’t protected from the draconian ban of weapons and magazines, now they’re moving to protect Hollywood shitbags who might want to film their violent garbage in the State, according to links sent to us by Catherine and Veritas. From the Democrat & Chronicle;

    Cuomo and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, told reporters Wednesday that the state is not expected to make major changes to the gun-control law adopted Jan. 15. But lawmakers could amend the law so Hollywood productions are exempt from the assault-weapons ban.

    “We haven’t talked about the details of it, but the basic concept of should you be able to use these types of guns in movies? The answer is yes,” Cuomo said. “We spend a lot of money in the state bringing movie production here, post-production here. So obviously we would want to facilitate that.”

    Yeah, because the Hollywood shitbags whose faces splash across our headlines often enough for their criminal behavior are much more trustworthy than the average New York citizen. From the New York Times;

    Mr. Cuomo said Wednesday that while he and lawmakers did not want assault weapons on New York’s streets, they did not intend to ban their use on film shoots, and that concerns had been raised that the new measure could put a damper on the state’s growing film and television industry.

    “Should you be able to use these types of guns in movies? The answer is yes,” Mr. Cuomo said in a news conference at the Capitol. “We do spend a lot of money in this state bringing movie production here.”

    By the way, 20 of the state’s 62 counties have passed resolutions condemning th SAFE Act and the way it was rammed through the legislative process. 18 other counties are considering resolutions.

    5000 people showed up in Albany today to protest the SAFE Act.

    So good job, Cuomo. The Maryland Senate did their best to follow in Cuomo’s footsteps today. I hope they’re watching New York.

  • Manchin: “Sure as hell” no one will take your guns

    My Senator, Joe Manchin took to YouTube today to tell his constituents that “sure as Hell” no one will take our guns;

    In the video Manchin says (from Washington Times);

    “Hi, I’m Joe Manchin, and I’ve been hearing rumors and lies about my position on guns,” the West Virginia Democrat says in a 30-second YouTube video published Wednesday and titled “Joe Manchin Talks Honest About Guns.” “I want to be very clear and tell you: I’m a proud gun owner. Nobody’s going to take my guns, and I’m sure as hell not going to let ‘em take your guns.”

    “This is a bunch of crap and people talking about things they don’t know what they’re talking about,” he continues. “The only bill that I have worked on and am working on is one that will keep guns out of the hands of criminals and people mentally deranged. And that’s a fact.”

    Like I told Manchin in the letter I faxed to him yesterday morning, he’s working with Chuck Schumer on strengthening background checks and Schumer is looking to push for gun registration. Working with Schumer doesn’t make Manchin look good at all. I voted for Manchin because he introduced a Federal Concealed Weapon bill in the Senate, he is the first Democrat whom I’ve voted for since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

    Actions speak louder than YouTube videos, Senator.

  • Confusion in New York

    Gun dealers and their prospective customers are expressing a little dismay at the whole SAFE Act thing in New York State. They say that no one makes 7-round magazines for their weapons and, apparently, none of the big gun manufacturers have any plans to conform their products to New York legislation according to the newspaper I used to deliver, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle;

    This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor, can only sell something that doesn’t exist yet.

    “There was never a need for a (seven-round magazine),” Martin said. “Not many manufacturers are going to bother to make something just for the state of New York.”

    The New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act, passed in January, says gun dealers cannot sell magazines with more than seven rounds beginning April 15. However, three gun dealers in the Rochester area say manufacturers don’t make a seven-round magazine for most guns, and several manufacturers don’t disagree. This leaves store owners wondering what they are going to sell.

    So, I guess that leaves everyone the option to buy an M1911 in .45 caliber or nothing. I have about ten 7-round magazines for the 1911 that I’m willing to sell. But, of course, like everything else that’s poorly conceived, the number “7” was arrived at by committee;

    Lawmakers arrived at the number seven through a compromise in the Democratic caucus, Democratic Majority Leader Joe Morelle said last month.

    “Some wanted it higher, some wanted it lower, so seven became the place where we could get people to compromise and agree to … it was the subject of much discussion,” Morelle said. “In time, if other states follow New York’s lead, manufacturers will begin to produce magazines that have seven-round clips.”

    The gun dealers can’t even get an answer as to whether they can “block” the magazines and still be in compliance with the law, such as it is. In a quick search on the internet, I found kits for blocking 20 & 30 round PMAGs to 10-rounds, so I guess an enterprising soul could start making NY-compliant blocks, if they’re legal. I know we used to “plug” shotgun tubular magazines in order to comply with New York’s 3-round limit for duck hunting, so, if that helps…

  • Senate hearing douchery

    Chief Tango sends us a link to the Washington Post report of the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing in preparation for forwarding gun control legislation. I don’t think the Senators realize that a hearing is for gathering facts to consider in writing their legislation. For example, they brought in the father of one of the children who was killed in Newtown. I’m sure that his pain is real and I certainly sympathize with him, but beyond admitting that his son was killed, there was no reason for him to be there, because he had no facts to offer the committee. He succeeded in making some people in the room weep – but that’s emotion and there has been entirely too much emoting going on in regards to gun control.

    When Senator Graham tried to get facts out of the witnesses, they started emoting at him;

    Tempers flared when Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) quizzed [the U.S. attorney for Colorado, John] Walsh and [Milwaukee Police Chief Edward] Flynn on prosecutions of people who fail gun background checks.

    As Graham questioned Walsh, Flynn interjected: “I want to stop 75,000 people from buying guns illegally! That’s what a background check is.”

    When Graham asked Flynn how many background check cases he had referred for prosecution, the chief snapped back: “We don’t chase paper, we chase armed criminals.”

    Yeah, well, that’s very mature, chief. The whole problem with gun regulations is that no one is enforcing them. When we’re contemplating strengthening gun laws, we should know what needs strengthening. You were there to testify to the committee, you should have had arms load of paper for your testimony, but instead you brought in arms loads of chips on your shoulders.

    Obviously, the chief wanted Congress to make his job easier by disarming everyone, and he didn’t want to put forth the effort to be prepared, or give the appearance of being prepared to inform Congress – which actually means he wasn’t prepared to inform the very Americans he wants to disarm. He’s an administrator, and that’s what administrator do – chase paper. When was the last time the chief of police of Milwaukee chased a criminal? More likely he was often chasing some politician’s sweet, sweet butt cheeks to lip-lock.

    Don’t give us that sanctimonious bullshit about chasing criminals – answer the f-in’ question, numbnuts. If you’re not prosecuting people who illegally try to purchase firearms, you’re not doing your job. And who exactly are those 75,000 people you’re trying to keep from buying guns, anyway? I’m sure there aren’t 75,000 people in f’n Milwaukee who aren’t eligible to legally purchase a gun, dillweed.

  • My personal pleasures are none of your business, DiFi

    In the Washington Times today, Cheryl Chumley reports that your personal pleasures (scary-looking black rifles) are a danger to our national security and you’re being selfish;

    Assault weapons are “personal pleasure[s]” that should not take precedence over the good of the nation,” she said.

    “We will make the case that these weapons do not belong on the streets of our cities,” she said, during an MSNBC appearance. “I recognize it’s an uphill battle. … [But] the mothers, the women, the men of American have to make a decision as to whether their personal pleasure is more important than the general welfare.”

    Yeah, it is as a matter of fact, Dianne, you massive douche. In another interview that won’t get published with the Christian Science Monitor, I made the same point. When I hold my AR, it’s like a warm hug from an old friend. I told the person who was interviewing me that she probably didn’t understand why I smoke cigars either, but it’s a personal pleasure that I enjoy in good company. When I smoke a cigar, it reminds me of some of the best times in my life, and the same holds true for my AR.

    That’s the problem with the Left – if they don’t understand something, it’s not important. Everyone has to be equally miserable. Something you and I enjoy has no value if they can’t “get it”.

    “I intend to fight. I did it once before. If it doesn’t get done right now, be assured I will continue to press the case,” she said, in the context of speaking about gun-control proposals that ban assault weapons…

    I’m sure gun dealers across the nation are applauding loudly.

  • Taking business elsewhere

    In Ilion, New York, Remington Arms is contemplating leaving the state and take it’s thousands of jobs and tax revenues with it. Yesterday, the Washington Post reported that Beretta may do the same thing in Maryland. They figure why should they make a product that their own workers can’t own;

    Concern that the company will leave, and take its 300 jobs with it, is palpable among state lawmakers who worry it could be collateral damage from Gov. Martin O’Malley’s proposed gun-control bill.

    Among other restrictions, O’Malley’s bill would ban assault rifles, magazines with more than 10 bullets and any new guns with two or more “military-like” features. Gun experts said it’s a near-certainty that Beretta’s semiautomatic version of the ARX-160, now only a prototype, would be banned under O’Malley’s bill.

    “I’m concerned. I think they’re going to move,” said Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. (D-Calvert). “They sell guns across the world and in every state in the union — to places a lot more friendly to the company than this state.”

    Berretta has done it before when they moved a warehouse to Virginia after a particularly onerous bill. In total, 44 gun companies have announced their intentions to forbid sales to State Law Enforcement entities in states which restrict gun ownership by their citizens. Maryland legislators still don’t get it, though;

    Del. Joseph F. Vallario Jr. (D-Prince George’s), whose district encompasses the Accokeek plant, said he would do everything he could for the company.

    “We want to keep those jobs,” said Vallario, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which has a key role in approving the legislation.

    Well, if you want to keep those jobs, don’t screw Marylanders, dipshit.

    Thanks to Hondo for reminding about the story.

  • Bloomberg money in Chicago

    Ex-PH2 sends a link from a Texas Public Radio article about Nanny Bloomberg who doesn’t care that he’s screwing up the city of New York badly enough, he’s spending his money in the primary elections for Jesse Jackson, Jr.’s congressional seat in Chicago later this week.

    Chicago is also where the billionaire mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is flexing the muscle of his gun control superPAC by spending, as of late Friday, $2.2 million on the race. For those keeping score, that’s four times what the top five candidates’ campaigns have spent — combined. Most of that money has gone to attack former Rep. Debbie Halvorson, with the rest building up Robin Kelly, the former administrator of Cook County and a former state representative.

    Because Halvorson is the only white candidate in the primary, originally facing nearly two dozen African-Americans, there was a reasonable chance she would win a slim plurality with the black vote splintering so many different ways.

    In fact, polls early on showed her leading — but that was before Bloomberg’s Independence USA PAC unleashed a pair of TV ads and a series of mailers against her and her positions on guns. Now, days ahead of the vote, Kelly appears to be in the lead, with a pair of other top contenders having dropped out.

    Bloomberg’s ads criticize Halvorson for her A+ rating from the NRA, so he counters NRA money and support for his money and support. The difference is that the NRA’s money represents the voices of millions of American members and Bloomberg’s money represents one millionaire’s point-of-view. Maybe Chicagoans don’t have enough bullshit in their crappy lives, they need Nanny Bloomberg to make their choices for them as well.
