  • Senate fails to pass gun regs

    Pat sends us a link to the Washington Post which tearfully reports that the new gun control regulations have failed to get the necessary number of votes in the Senate. And it went down in a bipartisan vote;

    The vote on the so-called Manchin-Toomey amendment was 54 in favor, 46 against — failing to reach the 60-vote threshold needed to move ahead. Four Republicans supported it, and four Democrats voted no.

    Two screeching gun control harpies were removed from the chamber when they shouted “Shame on you!” to no one in particular.

    “They are an embarrassment to this country, that they don’t have any compassion or care for people who have been taken brutally from their families,” Maisch said as officers attempted to remove her from the building. “I hate them,” she said of the senators.

    “We’re sick and tired of the death in this country and these legislators stand up there and think it’s a bunch of numbers,” said Haas, whose daughter, Emily, was wounded in the April 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech.

    “It’s a shame, it’s appalling, it’s disgusting,” she added.

    I guess they couldn’t find anyone who was pleased the bill was defeated, because they didn’t bother to interview anyone with that particular view. Oh, by the way, one of those Republicans who defected was – surprise! – John McCain;

    “Is this a perfect solution? No. will it prevent all future acts of gun violence? Of course not,” McCain said. “Would it have prevented the most recent acts of gun violence? In all likelihood, no. But it is reasonable, and it is my firm conviction that it is constitutional.”

    So, McCain just thought that he should “do something” irrespective of the result. Who needs him? Harry Reid, at the last minute decided that he’d vote for it, too, I know, you’re surprised;

    In a notable reversal, Reid said he would vote for a proposed assault weapon ban “because maintaining a law and order is more important than satisfying conspiracy theories, who believe in black helicopters and false flags. I’ll vote for the ban because saving the lives of police officers – young and old – and innocent civilians – young and old, is more important than preventing imagined tyranny.”

    The tyranny that Harry, the draft dodger, says is imagined, is right there in his mirror every morning.

    Joe Bite Me, probably one of the big reasons that bill failed, since he was riding herd on gun control and couldn’t keep his lips from flapping about the most ridiculous shit on the planet was fairly pissed;

    Biden reiterated that the proposal would not create or lead to the creation of a federal gun registry. “Nothing can be further from the truth,” he said.

    Biden also dismissed suggestions that the measures would infringe upon people’s constitutional right to bear arms.

    “There is no – zero – no infringement on the Second Amendment, not one single thing being proposed,” he said.

    Yeah, well, no one on the planet believes a thing you’re saying anymore, Bite Me. You’re a punch line. You should resign. After Sandy Hook, gun control was a slam dunk and the president guaranteed it’s failure by putting Bite Me in charge of it.

    What a wet firecracker. Yeah, and if the Left wants to blame someone, blame Biden and the other morons who thought they had something to contribute to the debate, but they were uninformed and downright ignorant and dishonest. Blame the inflated statistics and polls. Blame Bloomberg for being a rich guy trying to shove his personal ignorance down our collective throat. The soft drink ban in NYC contributed to this failure as much as anything. Blame Mark Kelly for trying to deny stuff for the rest of us while buying the same stuff for himself.

    The gun grabbers showed their collective ass throughout the “national discussion” and no real American wanted to be seen as part of the ignorant, hypocritical crowd who wanted to disarm America while clinging to their own guns. And now, despite the failure of the legislation, the Democrats are going to pay for their lies to our face next November. Now they know why the Clinton Gun Ban wasn’t renewed last decade.

  • Anti-Gun trolls

    MCPO Ret. in TN sends us a link to Guns America which warns about some trolls dropping off posts on blogs and discussion forums that are being spammed with conspiracy theories that they think are generated by Bloomberg’s Mayor’s Against Gun Owners organization. The story goes like this;

    It is a “whistleblower” post about the explosions at the Boston Marathon, warning that it is some kind of false flag to ban the private sale of gun powder. I believe this “warning” is meant to be re-posted on gun blogs and boards, and on a quick Google search, I see that it has already hit the FAL Files and a few survival boards. We am not going to include the post in this email because there is no benefit in spreading it, but it begins “I work on a security commission and I’ve just received word to start on a campaign we’ve been working on for the last two months and now it all makes sense.”

    The “warning” then goes on to say that that explosions were a pre-planned event meant to result in the banning of the private sale of gun powder, and that a young person is to be arrested Friday with NRA magazines in his possession. The creators of this farce are hoping Alex Jones and all of the conspiracy websites pick it up, and some of them already have. We believe that this is a Bloomberg shill to make us look stupid, and ruthless, that we would co-opt a tragedy to further our cause.

    I just did a quick check of Google and saw where that line in the Guns America post has been repeated on a couple of blogs. We don’t fall for conspiracy theorist trolls here normally, so I might have discovered it on my own, you know, if I had the requisite amount of coffee coursing through my veins at the time, but now we all know. In fact there are several conspiracy theories that I’m ignoring this week – so if you email me something and you don’t see a post on your tip, it’s not because I’m ignoring you, I’m ignoring the story. I’m not telling you which I’m ignoring, because that wouldn’t be ignoring, would it?

  • NRA: One question

    The folks at NRA send us this video in response to the Gun-Grabbing Mayors’ video;

    They also sent the latest commentary from Dom Raso entitled “Our Job” in regards to the attempted raid in New Jersey on a gun owner’s home where they threatened to take way his kids and his guns for a Facebook photo;

  • NYPD cop shoots son, boyfriend, self

    The Washington Post reports that a New York police officer shot her boyfriend, her one-year-old son and then turned the gun on herself after her 19-year-old son escaped through a window.

    The officer was identified by family and property records as 43-year-old Rosette Samuel. She joined the force in 2000. Police say nothing in her records indicated she was troubled.

    I only mention this because if it had been a veteran of the recent wars, it would be front page news and the hand-wringers would come out of the woodwork demanding that we ‘do something’. This officer was one of the only people who Mayor Bloomberg wants armed on the streets of New York, or so he’s told us.

    I don’t bring this up as a shot at cops, so to speak, but rather a shot at the gun grabbers, like Bloomberg, who blame the gun, and obviously, it’s the people that are the problem.

  • Gun grabbers bully NASCAR

    Eggs and ROS send us links to the story that gun grabbers are bullying NASCAR in regards to the National Rifle Association’s sponsorship of some NASCAR events. Gun grabbing Democrat Christopher Murphy, Senator from Connecticut, a place where I’m guessing there’s a lot of room between NASCAR fans, wrote to Rupert Murdoch to convince the CEO of News Corp, which owns Fox, to not broadcast the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series because of NRA’s sponsorship.

    “The horror that unfolded on December 14th at Sandy Hook Elementary School has sparked a national conversation about the adequacy of our gun laws,” Murphy wrote to Murdoch. “Considering your support of sane gun control measures and the extreme nature of the NRA, I urge you to not broadcast this race on April 13th. Inserting Fox Sports in this debate at this critical time will give credence to an extreme organization that is opposed to reasonable policies to stem gun violence.”

    Yeah, the NRA behaved as properly as they could after the Sandy Hook shootings – they stayed silent out of respect for the victims. It’s the gun grabbers who acted like tools – calling for the NRA to be quiet, and then criticizing the organization when they stayed quiet. And instead of blaming the perpetrators of the crime, Adam Lanza and his mother, they blame the millions of gun owners who took no part in the crime. And, I’m betting good money that there are more NRA members among NASCAR fans than gun grabbers, so NASCAR’s carefully measured statement will probably be criticized by fans everywhere. From ESPN;

    “The NRA’s sponsorship of the event at Texas Motor Speedway fit within existing parameters that NASCAR affords tracks in securing partnerships,” said NASCAR spokesman David Higdon. “However, this situation has made it clear that we need to take a closer look at our approval process moving forward, as current circumstances need to be factored in when making decisions.”

    Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage, on Friday criticized Higdon’s statement, says The Blaze;

    “I would say about Mr. Higdon is, I think he’s new to the sport and doesn’t quite understand how it all works,” Gossage told local ESPN Dallas radio host Randy Galloway. “And he could have just as easily put out a quote that said C.Y.A. [cover your ass]. That’s what that is.”

    “It’s a PR mistake to have made that statement,” he added. “They should have conferred with some other folks before they issued that.”

    Yeah, if I was NASCAR, I’d stay out of the whole fight, and leave the NRA alone. The reason that the NRA sponsors races is because most of the fans are legal gun owners, and if some effete, sniveling Leftist gun grabber from the northeast wants to tell NASCAR how to do their business, he should buy himself a seat on the board instead of sniping from behind his seat in Congress. If voters in Connecticut want more gun laws and to abandon their God-given rights, that’s fine, but they need to leave the rest of us alone.

    We already know how Connecticut voters choose their representation – they put a Stolen Valor criminal in the Senate right before our eyes.

  • New York takes guns from the wrong guy

    This college librarian by the name of David Lewis in Buffalo, New York got a letter from the Erie County clerk that the pistol permit he had was revoked and that he needed to turn it and his gun over the county, according to The Inquisitor;

    According to Lewis’ lawyer, who is now suing the state of New York, his client never made any threats and has no criminal record. Apparently the man was taking anti-anxiety medicine for a short period of time but there is no evidence of any mental instability. Moreover, the odd thing is that his doctor never reported him to the state — and evidently no one else did either.

    The state police and Erie County officials are now engaged in finger-pointing as to who is to blame for this bureaucratic foul-up under the new gun control law. The citizen’s health privacy rights under the HIPPA law may also have been violated by unauthorized access to his medical records.

    Of course, the excuse that bureaucrats are making are that the SAFE Act, New York’s new gun law that was crammed down the throats of New Yorkers in a big rush to be the first in the nation to look like they’re doing something is flawed. Well, duh! Nothing that gets done quickly is done right – especially by government. That’s why they’re called gun grabbers and not polite young gentlemen working for the good of the people.

  • Bite Me wants to take your Ferrari

    Chief Tango and Frederik sent us links to an article about Joe Bite Me, the biggest moron on this planet or any other as far as I can tell. I’m not sure what the Hell he’s talking about, but I think he’s coming to take my Ferrari from me, or something;

    Later in the segment, Biden touched upon his own experience with guns, recalling his father’s gun collection. To that point, he noted that the debate surrounding guns used to deal almost exclusively with hunters. But now we have a group of non-hunting gun owners.

    “There is a whole new sort of group of individuals now…that never hunt at all,” Biden said. “But they own guns for one of two reasons — self-protection, or they just like the feel of that AR-15 at the range.”

    “They like the way it feels,” he added. “It’s like driving a Ferrari, you know. And so my impression is there’s not the same sort of cultural norm about gun ownership with a lot of people who are buying guns now.”

    Yeah, I’m guessing that Bite Me’s father didn’t do much hunting with his collection either. But it’s OK for his father to have a collection but not the rest of us. And as far as Bite Me’s feelings go, I wouldn’t trust his finger on the cultural pulse of this country, either. I’m sure that he knows why people are buying guns about as much as I understand the gay marriage issue.

    I like the feel of an AR because it reminds me how I spent half of my adult life. And Bite Me wouldn’t understand that – if he wants the feel of how he spent half of his adult life, all he has to do is a cranial-rectal inversion.

    I used to hunt at every opportunity, but not anymore. Now I have a collection of weapons – you know like Bite Me’s father’s collection.

    Man, I hope that retard gets the presidential nomination in 2016. But knowing the GOP, he’ll probably be their nominee.

    Added: I think Harry Reid is trying to make Bite Me look smart. From Twitchy;

  • The Manchin-Toomey deal

    Joe Manchin and Pat Toomey rolled out their compromise a few minutes ago. The Washington Post writes about the deal;

    The law would not cover private transactions between individuals, unless there was advertising or an online service involved.

    […]

    Background checks would need to be completed within three days, except at gun shows, where they would have to be completed within two days for the next four years, and then within 24 hours. In order to avoid processing delays, the FBI would be required to complete background checks requested at gun shows before those requested elsewhere.

    Of course, the compromise included records-keeping in regards to the background checks;

    Under the Manchin-Toomey deal, records of the newly covered transactions would be kept by federally licensed arms dealers, according to a person familiar with the agreement. Currently, licensed arms dealers keep records of gun sales that take place in gun stores.

    And there a provision for active duty troops;

    Members of the military would be permitted to purchase firearms in their home states and anywhere they are based, said the aides, who were not authorized to speak publicly about details of the agreement.

    So, the bill isn’t so bad that folks who are selling guns out of their trunks in dark parking lots won’t begin complying. Of course, I’m being facetious. Senators are going to be allowed to introduce amendments, so it’s probably not going to be the same bill that we read about today. And Feinstein has promised to reintroduce her scary black gun ban.

    Since the Democrats were so head-strong about “doing something”, this is probably the best we could hope for, since Republicans have begun to fold like a cheap lawn chair on gun control (surprise), if they’re going to collapse, I guess this is the thing we’d hope they’d collapse on.
