  • Obama joins Chavez against Britain

    Since it’s easier to order around your friends than it is to influence your enemies, the Obama Administration has joined the bloc of communists in South America to criticize our British allies over the Falkland Islands;

The declaration calls for Argentina and Great Britain to enter into negotiations over the sovereignty of the Falklands, a position which London has long viewed as completely unacceptable. It also comes in the wake of increasing aggression by the Kirchner regime in the past 18 months, including threats to blockade British shipping in the South Atlantic.

I think there was a war over the sovereignty of the Falklands and there are no more questions over control of the islands. Now, the Chavez-bought president of Argentina wants to reverse the fortunes of the war they lost decades ago.

Obama just doesn’t know when he should vote present.

  • Reality Bites

This not really news to most. A Muslim says that we will be attacked.

Osama bin Laden’s deputy warned Wednesday that America faces not individual terrorists or groups but an international community of Muslims that seek to destroy it and its allies. He was delivering a 28-minute videotaped eulogy to slain al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

The rest of the article is a sort of rant.

Here’s the thing. If we are to face this threat where should we start? Mind you I have no inside info, but we do have a starting point.

The survey found a strong correlation between the presence of severe violence-promoting literature and mosques featuring written, audio, and video materials that actually promoted such acts. By promotion of jihad, the study included literature encouraging worshipers to engage in terrorist activity, to provide financial support to jihadists, and to promote the establishment of a caliphate in the United States,

This may well be the time when freedom of religion bites us on the ass. Folks I simply don’t know where to draw the line. The article linked above has merit, but still I dunno where the line really is. That Sharia law is creeping in our direction is a simple fact. If you need further citations I will try to provide.

Okay… It’s hard also to divorce what this current regime here is doing, but I’ll stick to ‘what is’ rather than ‘what might be’. We have a real threat folks.

Added: My opinion is NOT the opinion of the staff and management of TAH.

  • Syrian soldiers mutiny?

Associated Press reports that some Syrian soldiers have joined protesters in parts of Syria and have murdered their former officers and are taking on security forces in the streets.

The details of what happened in Jisr al-Shughour remain murky, but if confirmed the mutiny would be an extraordinary crack in the regime, which sees its 40-year grip on the country eroded weekly by thousands of protesters calling for the ouster of President Bashar Assad.

The government said 120 troops and police died after “armed groups” attacked in Jisr al-Shughour, but has not explained how the heavily armed military could suffer such an enormous loss of life.

This could signal the beginning of the end for the Assad regime if it’s true. And of course, the Syrians will be more than grateful to the US for all of the aid we’ve given them in their bloody struggle against oppression…oh, right…that’s the one we chose to stay out of.

  • Pictures, sorta

No link here, but Drudge is offering something sold to Reuters.

If the shithead that sold these pix isn’t prosecuted soonest the conspiracy types WILL have a field day.

Releasing this kind of info serves no good purpose… except to fill some purse!

  • Letters from Gadhafi to his “Son”.

Get a load of this. It seems that Gadhafi sent a letter to President Obama asking for the Nato attacks.

In the letter, Gadhafi implored Obama to stop the NATO-led air campaign, which he called an “unjust war against a small people of a developing country.”

“To serving world peace … Friendship between our peoples … and for the sake of economic, and security cooperation against terror, you are in a position to keep Nato (NATO) off the Libyan affair for good,” Gadhafi wrote in the letter.

“I am sure that you are able to shoulder the responsibility for that.”

    But it gets better.

Gadhafi told Obama that a democratic society could not be built through the use of missiles and aircraft. He also repeated his claim that the rebels seeking his ouster are members of the al-Qaida terrorist network.

Yea what he really means is NATO air strikes and not the ones that he ordered.

But to top it off he ends with this.

“We have been hurt more morally [than] physically because of what had happened against us in both deeds and words by you,” he wrote. “Despite all this, you will always remain our son whatever happened. We still pray that you continue to be president of the U.S.A. We Endeavour and hope that you will gain victory in the new election campaigne.”

“We still pray that you continue to be president of the U.S.A. We Endeavor [sic] and hope that you will gain victory in the new election compaigne [sic]. You are a man who has enough courage to annul a wrong and mistaken action,” Gadhafi wrote. “I am sure that you are able to shoulder the responsibility for that.”

  • Following France to war

    I never, even in a drunken stupor, thought I’d see France lead anything beyond a fashion show. Yet, this is how far we’ve fallen;

It’s the same France that vigorously opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq eight years ago and has advocated trying every possible approach before bringing in the guns in other international crises.

Analysts say the extraordinary turnaround may be rooted in a revival by President Nicolas Sarkozy of traditional French notions of high-minded interventionism, as well as an attempt by the French leader to ease Europe away from its longtime dependence on the U.S. security umbrella.

Apparently, France was the first to fire it’s weapons in the Ivory Coast to cause the latest third world shit hole dictator to hunker down and beg for mercy. And it’s a war for cocoa, for some reason. It figures that France would find a condiment worth blood and treasure.

The Associated Press says “It’s the same France that vigorously opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq eight years ago” but obviously, it’s not the “same” France.

I’m glad that part of the world is finally shouldering their portion of responsibilities to the community of nations. I guess it’s better late than never.

  • Sticks and Stones

Considering what is happening in Afghanistan I thought this is cartoon would put things into perspective. Also given that there are some interesting things coming out from the Rethink Afghanistan community.

    Ok were to start.

Well, okay, but…these were UN workers at a time when 100K+ troops were in the country. Doesn’t seem like the presence helped them much.

    Or this one.

That Florida pastor should be banished to Afghanstan for starting such a malificent ruckus, that people are killed as a result. If you read Islam’s history? You will realized it greatest spread came in the first 100years, by military conquest. Why poke a stick at a sleeping tigre?

But it is really just propaganda and never happened.

Those dudes SO look like they are posing in that picture. Look at that dude to the far left and the one behind him. Angry mob my ass. lol Looks like a well done fashion shoot for urban couture to me. Me thinks this is just some more propaga…nda to depict just how “wild and crazy” those Afghanis supposedly are, thus vindicating the presence of the “moral, virtuous, and humane” foreign occupation forces to preserve all that is just and good. Let’s forget about the indiscriminate killings that have been going down on their side. I’m just saying.

Not to forget the standard it is all our fault statements.

Carly the 1.5 million drone planes that US citizens have to pay with their tax dollars are bombing a villages and killing civilians. Death toll has risen to 31% this year. over 2 thousand just last year have died. Why isnt this hitting american media? How many babies are being born with deformities from chemical bombs being dropped. Maybe there protesting for other reasons as well. LOOK AT THE US and what there already doing. US government are the HITLER of today

But the rioters are not to blame.

Yep you heard that right, we are using chemical weapons in Afghanistan.

Did you forget the US killed millions of Iraqis in a war based on false evidence. Did you forget they submited torture. Did you forget that they started a civil war within the country thats killing over 32 thousand people. Stop blaming The opressed look at the dictators, how do you explain what they did?

Oh and if anyone can translate this one please let me know.

u have to understand even if u think all rlgs are fairy tales that Muslims honor the Quran more than any other Ppl value their holy scriptures, so I u dis it u dis the Ppl n that’s y they wana take some action n not just do lip s…ervice … A good analogy for the westerners is if someone cussed out the mist beloved thing to u n wanted to burn it ( cud be ur mom ., ur daughter ., etc)how wud u respond????

b4 judging afg Ppl n society, judge ur own.

  • For Better or Worse

Doing what they are paid to do… politics be damned.

The Navy and Air Force git some.

A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft and guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG-52), engaged Libyan Coast Guard vessel Vittoria and two smaller crafts March 28.

The vessels were engaged after confirmed reports that Vittoria and accompanying crafts were firing indiscriminately at merchant vessels in the port of Misrata, Libya.

The P-3C fired at Vittoria with AGM-65F Maverick missiles, rendering the 12-meter patrol vessel ineffective and forcing it to be beached after multiple explosions were observed in the vicinity of the port.

Two smaller Libyan crafts were fired upon by the A-10 using its 30mm GAU-8/ Avenger cannon, destroying one and forcing the other to be abandoned.

Dunno if an A-10 has ever been used in a maritime environment before? Seems to work though.
