    Early reports from the scene indicated the store’s owner was the shooter, and that the customer was accused of robbing the store at the time of his death.

    However, SAPD later said the employee has had issues with the customer involved in the past, and that the customer has previously threatened to rob the store.

    Police said the employee and the customer got into some sort of argument Tuesday, and the employee told the customer to “back away multiple times.” When the employee was “backed into a corner,” police said he shot and killed the customer.

    From Buffalo, New York;

    According to a Buffalo Police source, a parole officer shot a suspect in the leg. This happened around 9:20 p.m. on the 300 block of Northumberland Avenue.

    The suspect is in custody, there’s no word on their condition. It’s believed police caught up with the suspect near Stevenson Street and North Legion Drive.

    On February 24 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls on Ventura Drive in reference to an unknown subject banging on windows and attempting to break into residences.

    The Sheriff’s Office received an additional call from a homeowner stating that a male subject was breaking windows and now entering their residence through a window. The homeowner fired one shot, striking the subject, who then fled on foot. The subject was later located had sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.

    Low rent criminal in Bonita Springs, Florida;

    A man who pointed his finger in lieu of a firearm at a convenience store clerk in an attempted robbery had to leave empty-handed when the employee refused to comply Wednesday morning.

    Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down the young man who attempted to rob a Bonita Springs 7/Eleven shortly after 2 a.m.

    A young male walked into the 7-Eleven, located at 4520 Bonita Beach Road.

    The suspect, who covered his face with a red shirt, approached the store clerk with a pointed finger and demanded all the cash from the register.

    When the clerk refused, the man ran out of the store empty-handed and rode a white mountain bicycle northbound on Imperial Shores Boulevard.

    Police say it all began when someone with a knife attacked another person during an argument.

    Neighbor Dave Thomas, who witnessed the attack, went into his home, got his rifle and ordered the suspect to stop.

    “I poked my head out the door. There was a pool of blood, blood was everywhere in the hall. There was still a confrontation going on, there were about three or four people involved at this point,” Thomas said. “So I ran back into my house and grabbed my AR-15. I grabbed the AR-15 over my handgun — bigger gun, I think a little more of an intimidation factor. Definitely played a part in him actually stopping.”

    The suspect was able to get away briefly, before he was captured by police.

    The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital. No word yet on that person’s condition.

    Police say Thomas has a valid firearm owner’s identification card and a concealed carry permit.

    From Charleston, West Virginia;

    A burglary early Sunday morning ended up with a shot fired by the homeowner, Charleston Police say.

    It happened in the 700 block of Ivy Drive.

    Eli Wayne Freeland, 30, was arrested and charged with one count of nighttime burglary.

    Police say the homeowner fired one shot, which hit the living room floor. No charges were filed against him because police say he was acting in self-defense.

    The homeowner told police that Freeland said someone was after him and was going to kill him. The homeowner warned him to stay behind a couch or he would be shot. That’s when the homeowner said Freeland advanced toward him, leading him to fire the shot.

    The Little Rock Police Department says one person was shot by an off-duty officer when the person tried to gain access to the officer’s apartment.

    Lt. Michael Ford says the shooting happened at a residence at Bowman Heights Apartments off of Markham Mesa Place.

    Police tell KATV the veteran officer was at his home when an unknown suspect started banging on the door and yelling loudly. Authorities say the suspect allegedly busted in a window and then shots were fired.

    According to police, officers don’t know if the suspect was armed, but the suspect was taken to the hospital in serious condition for injuries sustained in the shooting.

    Police were called to the scene shortly before 5:50 a.m.

    Preliminary information has revealed that a 21-year-old man attempted to rob a 24-year-old man at that location. The 24-year-old man shot the 21-year-old man.

    The 21-year-old man died from his injuries.

    The 24-year-old man remained on scene and is cooperating with MPD.

    From Houston, Texas;

    A business owner shot and killed a man Monday who broke into his northwest Houston business, police said.

    The owner of J’s Sticker Station told police he was asleep inside the shop in the 6100 block of Pinemont Dr. when he heard the man breaking in.

    The business owner told police he grabbed his pistol, fired once, and shot the suspected intruder in the head.

    According to witnesses, two men got into an altercation in the club. One of the men went into his vehicle, came back inside the night club and tried to shoot the other man.

    The nightclub’s security guard shot the suspect, police said. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The security guard and club attendees were uninjured, police said.

    A rural homeowner has been taken into custody by Okotoks RCMP after he allegedly fired shots at a couple of people rummaging through his vehicles early Saturday morning.

    One of the alleged vehicle break-in suspects was later taken to hospital under guard after being found with a wound to his arm, and officers are still searching for the other suspect after they both fled the scene on foot.

    Police are reminding rural home owners that you cannot fire a gun at someone simply to protect your property.

    “While we, as the police, understand that firearms are an integral part of rural life, they must be properly secured and stowed when not in use in accordance with the firearms act,” Sgt. Shawn French said. “And they must be used in accordance with the criminal code or they could result in personal injury or criminal charges being laid if they’re pointed or discharged at a person.”

    The off-duty police officer that shot a man in Miamisburg after an armed robbery will not be charged.

    The Montgomery County Grand Jury heard testimony and evidence concerning the shooting that took place on Monday, February 5, 2018, in Miamisburg. The officer witnessed 17?year?old Charles Ashford attempting to carjack multiple victims at gunpoint in an attempt to steal a getaway vehicle after committing an armed robbery of a Shell gas station on Byers Road.

    According to officials, the officer identified himself as a police officer and ordered the juvenile to drop his weapon. When the juvenile failed to comply and instead pointed a .45 caliber semi?automatic firearm at the officer the officer fired his weapon, striking the juvenile twice.

    Upon consideration of all the testimony and evidence, the Grand Jury returned a no true bill, finding that the officer acted lawfully, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.

    The juvenile suspect is charged with seven counts of aggravated robbery, one count of felonious assault on a police officer, discharge of a firearm on or over a public roadway, and impersonating a peace officer.

    From Prince William County, Virginia;

    A man shot by a member of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Friday morning has died. Mario Dantoni Bass, 37, was a sought for 11 active warrants by the Prince William County police.

    Bass’ most recent warrant was connected to a domestic-related abduction on Feb. 15. He also had warrants for felony grand larceny auto, identity theft and various traffic violations, some of which date back to Sept. 2015.

    In an attempt to apprehend Bass, the Task Force arrived at a Days Inn in Dumfries where Bass was reportedly staying.

    When the task force reached the room Bass was staying in, Bass allegedly broke through an upper floor window and fled to the rear of the hotel, where he encountered a task force member.

    During a physical altercation with the task force member, Bass was shot in the upper body. No other injuries were reported.

    Video from a failed robbery attempt in Tucson, Oklahoma last week;

    Tulsa police responded to the store near 12th and Memorial just after 6 p.m. Thursday after the clerk called 911, saying they shot the suspect multiple times. The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, but he later showed up at a local hospital.

    Police have identified the suspect as Tyrone Lee and believe he’s connected to 10 other robberies in the area. They say Lee walked into the liquor store Thursday evening with a shotgun, demanding money.

    Surveillance video shows the suspect behind the counter before walking out of the camera’s view. The owner and her daughter both grab their guns, and when the suspect returns, the owner opens fire.

    A 17-year-old boy was shot to death Thursday night at a home in the Avalon Lakes subdivision in east Orange County, deputies said.

    They responded around 8:45 p.m. to a call for a burglary and shots fired at a home in the 1500 block of Echo Lake Court.

    When they arrived, they found the teen with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.

    The shooting remains under investigation.

    From Rector, Arkansas;

    Authorities said “initial statements” gathered at the scene indicated that Jeffery L. Baker “forcefully entered” a home on South LaSalle Street in Rector, after which the homeowner shot him.

    Baker died at the scene. His body, which police found in the home around 8:10 p.m., was sent to the state Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.

    The homeowner wasn’t identified in a state police news release. A statement from the Clay County sheriff’s office said that a “person of interest” was interviewed, and it noted that state police are still investigating.

    From Schertz, Texas;

    A man is dead after he was shot by a homeowner multiple times during an apparent home invasion Thursday afternoon in Schertz, according to authorities.

    The man was reportedly shot at 2:13 p.m. in a home in the 4000 block of Brook Hollow Drive, according to Schertz police.

    Detectives said the man had forced his way into the home while brandishing a handgun.

    Once inside, the homeowner shot the the man several times, investigators said.

    In Tulsa, Oklahoma;

    A Tulsa robbery suspect is in the hospital after a shooting and attempted robbery at a liquor store Thursday night, according to police.

    The robbery/shooting happened near 14th and Memorial at Forest Acres Liquor. Police told FOX23 the suspect was armed with a shotgun and attempted to rob the store.

    A woman working at the store was assaulted, but managed to shoot the suspect. Police believe he was hit multiple times.

    Citrus County resident Carmelo Marchese says he had no choice but to shoot a would-be home invader.

    “I was honestly and truly in fear for my life,” he told FOX 13.

    It started with his dog daisy barking wildly. A stranger was knocking on the door at 11:30 at night.

    Police say the would-be intruder was Joshua Bernard, who has a prior history of burglary and was just released from jail.

    ”Once he started to push me and grab my neck, I shot him. I wasn’t going to play. This isn’t a game, it was a life-and-death situation,” he said.

    Marchese, 71, served in the Navy and did two tours in Vietnam. He’s never faced this kind of threat at home.

    “I had warned him prior. I did everything I was supposed to do. This is my house, not his,” he said.

    Bernard was fortunate to survive the gunshot to the chest. Now he’s back in jail.

    From Dora, Alabama;

    An Empire man was killed over the weekend after breaking into a Dora residence and attempting to run over the homeowner’s son.

    Walker County Sheriff Jim Underwood said the unnamed man who shot Jason Richard Almazon, 30, on Saturday while he was attempting to flee in a stolen truck will not be charged.

    “We will not be pursuing criminal charges against the shooter because we believe the evidence shows this is a case of justifiable homicide. We’ve also consulted with the District Attorney as they have the ultimate prosecutorial discretion with criminal cases,” Underwood said.

    Almazon and Blaine Carl Jones Jr. , 48, of Sumiton, reportedly burglarized a residence on Ball Park Road in Dora Saturday morning.

    Jones left the scene with items stolen from the residence, and Almazon stayed behind with the intention of stealing a truck with keys taken from inside the residence.

    When the homeowner’s son and a second man who owned the truck caught Almazon in the act, Almazon attempted to run over the homeowner’s son.

    The owner of the truck fired several times at Almazon, who was later pronounced dead by the coroner.

    According to Underwood, Almazon was not armed but was using the stolen truck as a weapon.

    In Eatonville, Washington;

    The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, from a man who said he had shot someone in front of his home in the 43100 block of Mountain Highway E. in the Eatonville area.

    The caller told police his teenage son received a threat overnight stating that someone was going to “shoot up the house.”

    Wednesday morning, the father told police, several people pulled into his driveway and at least one of the passengers fired multiple times at his mobile home, hitting the bedroom area of the trailer.

    The father said he fired back at the suspects, striking one of them.

    The suspects then drove off leaving their critically injured comrade behind.

    Minutes later while en route to the shooting scene, deputies spotted the car involved in the crime.

    Deputies arrested a 31-year-old man and a 17-year-old man. A dog was also in the car and taken by animal control.

    The critically injured man died at the scene.

    From Woodbury, New Jersey;

    Woodbury police responded to the scene of the shooting Tuesday night. NJ.com reports police learned a group of four people allegedly planned to rob their 20-year-old acquaintance, but the attempted robbery went south after one of the robbers accidentally shot himself while hitting the victim in the head with a gun.

    The robbers fled, but were quickly apprehended not far from the scene. Police say the gun used in the assault was found in the suspects’ car.

    The robbery victim and suspect were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. All four suspects now face charges.

    Deputies said the male and female homeowners said they were sleeping in their house — along with their infant and toddler — when they heard noises of footsteps outside and saw an exterior motion light go on.

    “The husband went into their children’s bedroom and saw an unknown man standing in the window well; the husband told his wife to call 911 and to move their children to safety, then he pulled back the curtain and saw the suspect was crouched down with his face within inches of the glass. The husband told the deputies he was in fear for his family’s safety; he reportedly yelled at the suspect to stop and then fired four shots, striking him twice.”

    The suspect is believed to have burglarized the shed of a home about a block down the street earlier that morning, the department said, and he was recently released from jail after serving nearly a month-long sentence for vehicle prowling.

    AWEd sends a link from Waldorf, Maryland;

    Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims holding the suspect on the floor and restraining his arms.

    Investigation revealed, Duane Anthony Shephard, 24, of Waldorf, went behind the counter inside the convenience store and began taking packs of cigarettes. An employee told Shephard that he could not be behind the counter and that he needed to leave. Shephard began to repeatedly strike the employee over the head and in the face, using his cell phone as a weapon, leaving multiple cuts on the employee’s face and head. A bystander was in line at the time and attempted to pull Shephard away from the employee, but Shephard turned and began assaulting him as well. The two victims were able to restrain Shephard until officers arrived.

    QMC sends a link from Albuquerque, New Mexico;

    Officer Simon Drobik said around 5 p.m., a woman was driving her daughter to the airport when her estranged husband, Qian Ming, 66, intentionally crashed his truck into hers.

    According to APD, Ming then got out of his vehicle and fired a couple of rounds into the wife’s truck, striking his daughter on the shoulder.

    At that time, Officer Drobik said a 34-year-old Good Samaritan pulled up to what he thought was a crash. He witnessed Ming beating his daughter with a gun in the middle of the street.

    “Once he started walking up, he saw that there was a male violently pistol-whipping a female in the street,” Officer Drobik said. “He got out of his vehicle and had his firearm on him and told that male to stop.”

    That’s when the Good Samaritan, who is not being named at this time because he’s currently not facing any charges, told police Ming pointed the gun in his direction.

    Police say the man then fired at least one shot, hitting and killing Ming.

    “Mom in the hospital said, ‘He saved our lives,’” Officer Drobik said. “You can’t get a stronger statement than that. So she knew it. Daughter knows it and good thing he took that type of action.”

    Officers did detain the man for questioning. He was released later that night. Officer Drobik said the man is a 12-year veteran of the National Guard.
