    Kansas City police have identified a man who was fatally shot Friday inside a building in the 2100 block of East Linwood Boulevard as 50-year-old Dwayne Thomas.

    Police found Thomas after responding to a reported shooting around 4 a.m. By the time officers arrived, the shooter had fled but was located a short time later and was interviewed by police.

    The shooter had called 911 and said he shot an intruder inside a vacant building, police said.

    From Knightdale, North Carolina;

    According to officers with the Knightdale Police Department, 21-year-old Tevin Cameron Horton, of Wendell, was armed with a revolver when he entered the store shortly before midnight. Police said Horton pointed the gun at the lone store clerk and demanded money. The clerk, 32-year-old Basheer Aldafari, briefly struggled with Horton over the weapon.

    Aldafari then attempted to retreat to an area of safety within the store, but was followed by Horton. Officials said Aldafari produced his own gun and fired at his attacker, who fled the scene.

    Officers soon learned of a report of a second shooting near Delta River Way in Knightdale. When they arrived, they found Horton suffering from a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks and lower back.

    Horton told officers he had been shot in a drive-by, but video surveillance showed Horton at the scene of the earlier crime.

    Aldafari did not sustain any serious injuries during the attack and robbery.

    From Fremont, California;

    A man killed by Fremont police Thursday night during an exchange of gunshots near a gas station had fled from an officer who tried to stop him for a probation violation earlier this week, a police spokeswoman said.

    Undercover and uniformed officers shot at the man after he pointed a gun at them near the ARCO station at the intersection of Fremont Boulevard and Nicolet Avenue, according to police. Authorities have not yet identified the man.

    Undercover officers spotted him around 6:47 p.m. as a passenger in a vehicle on Fremont Boulevard near Central Avenue, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said. Several marked patrol cars were then called to the area.

    The car stopped at the intersection, and police said when the man ran away they chased him. Police reported the man pointed a gun at one of the uniformed officers, so they fired at him, Bosques said. She said seven officers — three undercover and four patrol — fired their weapons.

    Authorities say a Gaffney man was shot and killed during an alleged home invasion early Friday morning.

    The coroner identified the man as 41-year-old Charles Shannon Alley.

    Witnesses say Alley was armed with a shotgun when he pushed his way into a home on Piney Knob Drive in Gaffney around 3:25 a.m. Friday, Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said in a statement.

    Fowler said Alley allegedly began fighting with a resident and threatened to harm two others at the home.

    “While engaged in the altercation, Alley was allegedly shot in the head by the female resident.

    From St Louis, Missouri;

    It began about 9:30 p.m. when the robber entered a home in the 2300 block of South Jefferson Avenue and demanded money, witnesses told police. He shot one of the five people inside, a 67-year-old man, in the back, police said.

    Another man inside the home, 29, grabbed his own gun and shot the robber in the leg, police said. The robber fled, but continued to fire shots.

    A 32-year-old man who saw this also pulled out a gun and shot at the fleeing robber’s vehicle, according to police. The robber shot at him, too, but missed.

    Police broadcast a description and the injured suspect was arrested on Harlan Avenue, off North Broadway in the Baden neighborhood.

    Robber robbed in Cincinnati, Ohio;

    Police say that they have identified a suspect in two separate bank robberies. However, Alfonso Goodwin is not under arrest. He is in the hospital.

    A surveillance picture from robbery at the US Bank in Colerain shows that the man is wearing a hat that reads, “Kentucky Fried Chicken,” and a shirt with the text, “I rule the rooster.”

    A man wore the exact same getup last Tuesday when he held up a US Bank in Middletown with the same exact hat and same exact shirt.

    Police say that they have identified Alfonso Goodwin, 48, as the suspect in both. Goodwin will be charged with aggravated robbery and other charges are pending.

    However, Middletown Maj. Scott Reeve said Goodwin was playing dice with a group of people. When they saw his wad of cash they robbed him at gunpoint. When Goodwin resisted Maj. Reeve said he was shot several times.

    From Kansas City, Missouri;

    A man said he fatally shot an intruder early Friday at a vacant apartment building he was renovating, according to Kansas City police.

    Police officers were called at 4:06 a.m. to the 2100 block of East Linwood Boulevard on a reported shooting and found a man dead.

    Investigators said the 911 caller told authorities he had shot someone, but provided few details. Police tracked the call to a home near 74th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard.

    Detectives were able to make contact with caller. Police said they are questioning the man,who is claiming self-defense.

    The video above shows an elderly man walking behind the would be criminal.

    After a few steps, the robber turns around and tells the man to give him all his money. The man tells the robber that he has no money and he had just left the hospital.

    The two fight for a little bit and after the elderly man begins to scream, the victim’s 85 year old brother comes running up to the men.

    The brother hits the robber in the head with a wrench! The robber eventually runs away… and all is well.

    Authorities say officers have shot and killed a man who was one of several suspects involved in an early-morning home invasion in Corpus Christi.

    Corpus Christi police say the man died at an apartment complex Wednesday after he and others were seen leaving an apartment.

    Authorities say a woman in the apartment called police to say a group of men had forced their way in, had assaulted people inside and were taking items with them.

    At least one was armed with a gun.

    It wasn’t clear why officers were prompted to fire on the man who was killed.

    Another man was arrested and at least one other fled as police arrived.

    From Creve Coeur, Missouri;

    A St. Louis-area man who helped rob a jewelry store here shot himself during the heist, giving investigators DNA to connect him to the crime, according to federal charges.

    Michael Anderson Gladney, 41, was charged Friday by complaint in U.S. District Court in St. Louis with armed robbery and one count of possessing and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. He was arrested Wednesday.

    Prosecutors say he and three other men entered Vincent’s Jewelers at 11733 Olive Boulevard at about 12:40 p.m. on March 19. One had a pipe and three others, including Gladney, were armed with guns, they said. The robbers ordered workers to the rear of the store and fired into a jewelry case to get at the merchandise inside, prosecutors said.

    Gladney shot himself during the robbery and left a trail of blood from a glass case to where a getaway car was parked, prosecutors said. St. Louis County police used that blood to obtain DNA, and matched it to a sample from Gladney in a law enforcement database, prosecutors said.

    Authorities were called to a house in the 2600 block of Highland Road around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday about a shooting call.

    When they arrived, the 28-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound.

    Neighbors and the 54-year-old homeowner called 9-1-1 after the shooting, and police conducted several interviews.

    The homeowner was released after talking with police, but a murder offense was generated and will be referred to a grand jury.

    From Jefferson County, West Virginia;

    While authorities were responding to the scene, they received information that there was an armed intruder and a gunshot had been fired. [Harold] Marsh was found in the stairwell with a bullet wound to his arm when officers arrived.

    Dougherty said an investigation determined Marsh was armed with an assault-style rifle and a small-caliber handgun when he kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment.

    He said some of the residents confronted Marsh and were able to wrestle the rifle away, but the pistol discharged during the struggle and the bullet struck him in the arm.

    A homeowner shot a man trying to burglarize his home in the butt Tuesday morning.

    When Albuquerque police responded to a call regarding a residential burglary in process they found the suspect, shot in the buttocks.

    Officials said the homeowner will not be charged at this time as it appears he was defending himself.

    From Houston, Texas;

    Alexander Garcia told Eyewitness News that the accused neighbor had been captured many times on his home video system checking doors and peaking into windows around the Mangum Manor neighborhood.

    Garcia said last night a motion activated light went off in his backyard. He first assumed it was a cat, but when he checked his security app he spotted a man looking into his back window.

    Garcia immediately went to check on his wife and 4-year-old daughter.

    “I came out the room and I grabbed my gun. I told my wife, ‘he’s here, he’s here,’” Garcia said. “I just took it off safety, and then I saw him crouching down and I shot once.”

    Surveillance video showed the man running away after Garcia fired the shot, barely missing the accused burglar.

    Denver police swarmed several blocks in LoDo during rush hour Tuesday morning following two home-invasion robberies and three business burglaries during which the owner of an apartment fired several shots at a knife-wielding suspect, police say.

    No one was injured during the knife-and-gun confrontation, Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said. The crime spree reported at 6:30 a.m. tied up traffic during the morning commute, he said.

    The homeowner told police he was checking on a vacant house he owns since it had been broken into multiple times recently.

    He found a man hiding inside the attic. The homeowner confronted the man and fired a shot, hitting the intruder once.

    The suspect was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

    From Baton Rouge, Louisiana;

    t happened around 10:15pm Saturday night on the 3400 block of North Acadian Thruway.

    Sgt. L’jean McKneely identified the dead man as Ke’irie Grayer.

    “Grayer was shot by a 25 year old man while attempting to rob him at gunpoint of his personal belongings,” McKneely wrote in a news release.

    From Chester, Pennsylvania;

    The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Pennell Street. Police arrived on the scene to find 23-year-old Tyler Reed-Knox on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

    He was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

    According to the Chester Police Department, Tyler-Knox was attempting to rob someone at gunpoint.

    There was a struggle, police say, and that led to Tyler-Knox being shot.
