  • Chaplain Streuker retires

Since people follow history here I thought that this might be interested in this.

The movie Blackhawk downs is one of the most famous military movies based on real events. Check out this from Fort Benning TV to get an inside look at one of the main characters in the movie, Chaplain (MAJ) Jeff Strueker, as he says farewell to his life as a Soldier.

  • Need your help to ID this fake Seal.

We have another fake that we only know as Ray we need help with finding a full name for. Even before you read anything about him you should notice the United Nations Korea Medal on the third row from the bottom on the right. More so when his stated age is only 48. If he was really in Korea he would have to be about double that age now.

Here is the rest of the info on him.

Also this goes along with this post from POW net.

I’m VERY SURE that you’ll get comments saying “That’s the guy from the BUD/S 234 Discovery Channel Video.”
I trained Class 234 after BUD/S in Demolitions and at first glance I thought it was him as well; BUT IT IS NOT…
A VERY close resemblance, have confidence that is NOT HIM when others inquire…

  • Arizona pass Funeral Protection Bill and other related items

With the news that the West Baptist Church intention of picketing the funerals of the victims of the shooting to include 9 year old Christina Taylor Green the Arizona State government has passed a Bill that that would keep the West Baptist Church members at least 300 feet away from the funeral site. The local populations have also pledge to help in this effort in keeping the picketers away.

“Protesting or picketing outside the funeral of an innocent victim is despicable,” said House Speaker Kirk Adams. “It’s time to bring Arizona in line with the many other states that protect the sensitivities of victims against groups that use fear and hate to denigrate the lives of Americans.”

Adams sponsored the emergency measure that prohibits people from picketing or protesting within 300 feet of any residence, cemetery, funeral home, church, synagogue or other establishment during or within one hour of a funeral service or burial service.

The House and Senate passed the bill unanimously Tuesday. Gov. Jan Brewer signed the measure Tuesday evening.

One bit of good news is that the doctors are expecting a full recovery of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

TUCSON, Ariz. — U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was breathing on her own and moving both arms after being shot in the head, doctors said Tuesday.

Giffords still has a breathing tube to prevent infections such as pneumonia, said her neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Lemole.

“I’m happy to say that she’s holding her own,” he said.

Giffords, a three-time Democrat, remained in critical condition at Tucson’s University Medical Center since Saturday when she was shot during a meeting with constituents outside a grocery store. The attack killed six and injured 14 others. Six remained hospitalized.

Giffords previously raised two fingers with her left hand and gave a thumbs-up when responding to doctors’ verbal commands.

Although her condition has remained virtually unchanged the past few days, doctors were hopeful.

“She has a 101 percent chance of surviving,” said trauma chief Dr. Peter Rhee said. “She will not die. She does not have that permission from me.”

Also had a question about the weapon that the shooter used and the claim that it was a 31 round clip and who can buy them. Anything about this still being current?

The select-fire version of the Glock, called Glock 18, available only in 9mm Luger and only for Military / Law enforcement sales. Glock 18 could fire single shots or three-shot bursts. Glock 18 may be equipped with 31-rounds extended magazines and after-market folding stocks. For security reasons, some parts of the Glock 18 ARE NOT interchangeable with Glock 17/19 pistols. The theoretical rate of fire in full-auto mode is 1200 rounds per minute.

Now here is a WTF for the day. I warn you that anyone holding any drinks, food, or anything that is unbroken that would like to keep them unbroken to put them away now.

    Ready? Your sure?

The West Baptist Church Protesters are really Tea Party members. Not even kidding.

Conservative Tea Party Activists from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas say they will picket the funeral of Christina Greene, the 9-year-old girl who was murdered in cold blood during the Tea Party sponsored assassination rampage in Tucson, Arizona last weekend.

    Huh?

Some Tea Party activists have pledged to use the money they raise to help defend the killer in court. Many Tea Party activists are calling Loughner a “hero.”

I would like to know who has said anything close to this.

The Tea Party movement and their violence must be stopped. While many in Congress are now calling the Tea Party movement a “moment,” specifically because of the Tea Party sponsored Arizona assassinations, we nevertheless need to hold these lawbreakers accountable for their actions. To be sure, criminals who support the Tea Party and their violent acts are NOT Americans. They are NOT patriots and they are NOT democratic. Rather, they are no less than the terrorists who attacked this country on 9/11. No wonder Tea Party activists will be picketing the funeral of 9/11 icon Christina Greene. Tea Party activists are terrorists themselves.

    WTF

  • If that is being disrespectful.

One of the stories that is going around is this one. It seems that the group that contracted the picture decided that it should be removed. Many people at a loss as why, can you guess why?

But it is clear that this is just a obvious case of censorship.

Several art bloggers denounced the museum’s act as censorship, comparing it to the recent removal of David Wojnarowicz’s “A Fire in My Belly” video from the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Daniel Lahoda, founder of LA Freewalls Project downtown and one of the few people to photograph the work as it was being removed, said that the street art community is “really upset by this — everyone is talking about it.”

“If you’re planning on mounting the largest graffiti show in a major institution, you’ve got to give the artists the freedom to do the movement justice — so there’s a big failure in what just happened,” he says. “The last thing we want is an art institution, someone supposed to support creativity, to destroy it.”

Except that the museum paid for it and guess what, the people paying your commission have a big say into what they want painted. So do not act shocked that they painted over a painting that they paid for on their property. But it gets better because “L.A. Museum’s Destruction of Anti-War Art Disrespects Veterans”

Much of the anti-war movement is led by veterans, who’ve seen firsthand that these wars aren’t making us safer and aren’t worth the cost. If Deitch talked to more veterans rather than making blanket assumptions about their viewpoints, he might be surprised to find that many, many veterans stridently oppose the wars being fought by the U.S. at present. For example, the video Rethink Afghanistan published on Veterans Day featured veterans denouncing the war in Afghanistan as an unjust war.

Except considering the past “veterans” that have been coming from the anti-war camp and considering how stories in how returning vets, are used as prompts, one has to wonder what their idea of respect is.

Here’s an interesting thought experiment: imagine if Blu had painted a mural celebrating, rather than dissenting from, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. What if the mural had depicted the war in Afghanistan as a conflict that served American interests, where our team, including our allies in Kabul, were the Good Guys and our adversaries the Bad Guys. In other words, if Blu had lied through his art, rather than using it to tell the truth, would Deitch have painted over it? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Except that they still do no get it, it does not matter what the subject is. If the person that is paying you to paint says that they do not like it, they have a right to reject it. Regardless of what the theme or subject matter is.

But do not try to use our name when you are upset about it when the owners paint over you picture that they paid for on their own building.

  • Another faker busted.

This info per Military Fakers and POW network.

An Arizona man who faced criminal charges under the nation’s Stolen Valor Act pleaded guilty to lesser crimes Thursday afternoon, just one day after a federal appeals panel ruled that lying about military awards is protected free speech.

Kurt A. Bishop, 42, of Queen Creek, was indicted in April on 34 counts related to fraudulent claims that he was decorated in the Army with a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Ranger Tab and numerous other honors.

This is has been going on for the past few months and it is nice to see that this guy having to answer for what he has done. Except that his excuse if first rate.

“We took into account the 9th Circuit ruling, but the defendant’s guilty pleas speak for themselves,” said Wyn Hornbuckle, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Paladini said questions about the Stolen Valor Act played a role in negotiations leading to the plea agreement because a Colorado court already had ruled the statute unconstitutional, and the 9th Circuit decision was pending.

Paladini said his client comes from a military family and served two decades in the Army, but yielded to “youthful indiscretion” as he tried to impress relatives and colleagues after completing his first tour of duty in 1991. Paladini said the false awards were somehow entered in Bishop’s military personnel file, causing the lie to be repeated over the years.

“It was never done for pecuniary gain,” the attorney said. “Kurt is a man of God who selflessly served his country for more than 20 years. He’s certainly not some seasoned criminal. . . . He was simply looking for acceptance and, unfortunately, it snowballed out of control.”

Except that is not our problem. You started the lies when it was convenient and benefited you. But once you had to face your peers, and answer questions that you did not like you folded. Also I do not care about if you a “Man of God” or what you did in the Military. What I am concerned what you did not do in the military service.

  • Merry Christmas from Alaska

This is the view from our front door it is my Son’s first White Christmas and mine as well at a toasty -3 degrees. Happy Holidays.

  • Code Pink and DADT.

As expected Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin put this out since it was repealed. No really surprised.

The peace group I co-founded, CODEPINK, has not only been protesting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the drone attacks in Pakistan, but we have been going to military recruiting stations, high schools and career fairs throughout the country encouraging our youth not to join the military.

Ok here is the warning. Put down any drinks and keep them there for the entire post. Yes it will be that bad.

    Final warning,

Ok here we go, considering Code Pinks actions in the past years before reading the next quote.

We know that the military is one of the only ways many young people can afford a college education these days and that the financial crisis severely limits this generation’s career options. But we still encourage young men and women to look for other opportunities that don’t involved killing or being killed in wars we shouldn’t be fighting.

It might seem contradictory, then, that CODEPINK was an enthusiastic supporter of the rights for gays and lesbians to join and serve openly in the military. But within our organization, it was never even controversial — we stand up for the rights of all human beings. The decision to join the military or not should be determined by individual choice, not institutional discrimination.

WTF? Really? So what was all of that going on in Berkley? Yea here is what they really think of individual choice.

    But then it gets better.

We understand that allowing gay soldiers to openly serve in the military is a crack in the armor of bigotry that will eventually open the way for gay people to marry and be guaranteed equality in the workplace. We understand this victory in the larger context of the march toward full human rights for this oppressed community. And who knows? Perhaps this victory will also serve to strengthen the military’s respect for human rights abroad.

Yea because we never had any of that before DADT was repealed.

But is comes down to the real reason Code Pink supported the repeal of DADT.

We also understand the potential for a powerful alliance between the gay and anti-war communities. We can work together to help young people — gay and straight — find careers that won’t kill them, maim them, destroy them psychologically, or cause them to do harm to others.

We can jointly reach out to those already in the military to speak out against the violations of the rights of peoples whose land we occupy. We can ask gay veterans to join groups like Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War. And we can work together to turn our military from an aggressive force to one that truly defends us here at home.

So they want them to join so they can have a fresh batch of Soldiers to use and throw away, since the current supply is running low.

Oh in case your wondering she will be at Fort Benning next year to take part of the SOA protests.

It it now safe to resume or start drinking.

  • The folly of crossing a Marine.

Some of you may have hear this story. But just in case here is the short version. Guy goes into a Best Buy and tries to steal a laptop computer. When confronted by the store employees he ran for the door waving a knife in hand and ran into a few Marines doing the Toys for Tots.

Outside the door were four Marines and seven volunteers collecting donations for Toys for Tots.

“(Duggan) clotheslined him, and after that he kind up got up and started swinging a knife around,” Smith said.

Gunnery Sgt. Robert Richie said Attaway “came over the top and got (Duggan) in the back.”

Attaway ran again but didn’t get far before Richie, several other Marines and members of the store’s loss-prevention team tackled him in the parking lot and held him until deputies arrived.

I hate to be that guy, I mean causing a Marine to bled in front of 4 other Marines can only be bad news.

Fellow Marines identified the injured man as Cpl. Phillip Duggan, 24, who spent part of Black Friday recuperating at Eisenhower Army Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The attacker has been arrested and facing charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a knife in the commission of a crime.

The story has been checked by Snopes.
