  • How Walsh Is Handling Questions About His War College Paper

Many people have been talking about the alleged plagiarism of Senator John Walsh of Montanta. Walsh originally spoke out on the matter – first downplaying the issue, then blaming it on PTS.

So what’s he saying about the matter these days? Watch for yourself:

Kinda looks like he’s avoiding answering the young man’s questions to me. But what do I know?

  • The Latest on That “Global Warming”

A look at some of the latest news about “global warming”, courtesy of the Drudge Report:

Oh, and regarding the climate getting “more extreme”:

Yep. It’s gotta be that “global warming” that’s to blame.

  • UN: Israel Not Sharing Iron Dome with Hamas? War Crime!

No, I’m not kidding.  And remember:  the US taxpayer is footing around 20% of the bill for this kind of bullsh!t.

Tell me again why the US doesn’t give that clown carnival the heave-ho?

  • Well, Well, Well

I ran across an interesting little story yesterday.  While rumors about the subject have circulated, good documentation has been hard to come by for nearly 13 years.

    Until now.

Clinton on Sept. 10, 2001: I could have killed bin Laden but ‘I didn’t’

Gee.  That’s . . . interesting.   Looks like Richard Miniter was right all along regarding those claims he made in Losing bin Laden, doesn’t it?

Don’t simply take my word for it; recorded audio of the admission exists.  Listen to Clinton’s admission yourself if you like.  It’s found at about 5:34 in the video clip found here.

Clinton made the admission in a speech he gave to a group of Australian business leaders.  The date of that speech?  September 10, 2001.

    Yeah.

This kind of crap happens when a nation’s leadership persists in treating acts of war as a “law enforcement matter”.   Or when a nation elects someone President who is nothing but a naive but charismatic charlatan who’s clueless about most everything except giving speeches and chasing tail.

Or in Clinton’s case – when both are true simultaneously.

And spare me that, “But Bush has been POTUS for months when 9/11 happened!” bullsh!t.  There’s no way in hell anyone can fix 8 years of abject mismanagement and neglect in barely 7 1/2 months.  That’s particularly true when those running the show previously screw things up as badly as Clinton and his cronies did.

So, all of you libidiots out there who’ve had your head up your 4th point of contact for years, and who kept blaming Bush for 9/11?  How about you just go grab a big honking cup of STFU now.  And keep yer yaps shut about 9/11 – permanently.  (Especially you, idiot who comments here as vietnam war protestor.)

While you’re keeping that yap shut, how about you chew on this to occupy your mouth instead:  your “sainted hero” Billy-boi admitted he could have prevented 9/11.  He also admitted he consciously decided not to do that.

And chew on this, too:  a President’s job is to make those hard decisions when are necessary to protect this nation.  A President who refuses to do that because “someone might get killed” is not fit to hold the office.

  • So, What Do Montana Teachers Have to Say About Plagiarism?

They’re obviously against it, right?  I mean, it’s one of Academia’s cardinal sins.

So they must be aghast at the prospect of a plagiarist being elected to the US Senate, right?

Not so fast.  According to Eric Fever, president of the Montana Education Association-Montana Federation of Teachers, it’s no big deal:

Husband, father, soldier, straight talking, no bullshit Democrat, Walsh is in his own words “no academic.” His bout with plagiarism proves that. But his bout with plagiarism has harmed no one but himself.

I can’t wait to see how Montana teachers react to the “it didn’t hurt anyone else” excuse when they catch someone using an obviously-plagiarized paper for their classwork.  Based on the above, I guess they’ll give the perp a pass – as well as a passing grade.

And Fever is hardly alone.  Here’s a quote from an article posted by Montana teacher Don Pogreba on his blog Intelligent Discontent:

Let’s get one thing out of the way: it was plagiarism. Some, eager to defend Senator Walsh, have suggested that because he cited the material in footnotes, he wasn’t plagiarizing, but that’s a too-generous, and incorrect assessment….

A person’s ethics are hardly defined by one error in judgment.

I guess Pogreba hasn’t gotten around to reading the 9-page DAIG 2010 Report of Investigation concerning Walsh’s other little bit of “interesting” conduct while serving in the MT ARNG.   That report substantiates different misconduct on Walsh’s part that IMO also calls his ethics into question.

Or perhaps Pogreba is simply OK with politicians using public resources improperly, and using their public position for for private gain.  As long as he agrees with their politics, of course.

Ya know, for some reason I keep hearing an old Randy Newman tune playing in the background when I read those articles:   “It’s Money That Matters”.   But then again, I tend to hear that every time a union flack opens his or her mouth these days.

  • You Knew It Was Gonna Happen . . . .

The Duffel Blog has ripped Walsh a new one for his “the PTSD made me do it” BS.  Their article is a hoot.

  • The Latest on “Flem”

    The Latest on “Flem”

Well, we have a bit of news on Flemron E. Dickey, candidate for Congress in Mississippi. So stand by for today’s “Flem update”.

Yesterday, reports surfaced that Dickey had been arrested for felony bad checks in Desoto County, Mississippi in 2012. While that report was true, it turns out Dickey apparently never faced felony charges in that case (though the precise disposition isn’t clear).

However, it does appear that there is some question about the BS degree he claims from Grand Canyon University. Apparently Dickey did in fact attend GCU.  However, the university apparently has no record of him as a graduate.

Last time I checked, college degrees weren’t normally issued to those who didn’t graduate. Wassup with that, “Flem”?

Apparently “BS degree” is indeed apropos.

Let’s see . . . what have we seen from Dickey so far?

    • Claim: “Dickey became a member of the elite special forces” (Source:  2006 Newsweek article, formerly quoted in full on Dickey’s campaign web site – since removed, but archived before it disappeared.)
Fact: not unless you count working as a non-SF-qual guy in a mess hall at Fort Bragg while assigned to a SF group as the same as being a “Green Beret”
    • Claim: “fought in the first Persian Gulf war” (Source:  same Newsweek article.)
Fact: not unless the AOR for Desert Storm included Korea and “fighting” includes bar fights downtown “in the ‘ville”.  Dickey’s records show he was in Korea from October 1990 to November 1991.  Desert Storm was 17 Jan – 28 Feb 1991 – in Kuwait and Iraq, which is about 4400 miles away from Korea.
    • Claim: “Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ B.S., Emergency Management” (Source:  educational claim on former campaign website, also archived.)
Fact: GCU says he attended, but a representative of GCU says that the college has no record of him as being a graduate.

Sheesh. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s anything about this guy that isn’t questionable. At this point, if Dickey told me it was daytime I’d look at my watch to check the time – then look out the window to make sure the sun was shining.
