  • Republicans’ biggest sin

What will really cost Republicans the most votes this election. It’s not pedophiles or campaign bribes. It’s not because soccer moms don’t like wars or that soccer dads don’t like immigrants. It’s because Republians have been successful keeping Americans reasonably safe in the War Against Terror. Who would have thought that we’d have gone this long since September 11th, 2001 without a major attack on our civilian population on our soil?

The worst part – no one believes it. The White House has listed terror attacks it has foiled, but because there’s no blood, because there are no terrifying pictures, it just doesn’t resonate with the media, and so it doesn’t resonate with the public.  Michael Moore’s “There is no terrorist threat” statement is much easier and comforting to believe. Who wants to believe that there are people out there who want to kill us?

We can watch “French youths” burn buses and cars in Paris and wipe our brows while sighing “at least that isn’t happening here”. Not yet. Bombs go off in London’s underground, Spanish police corner terrorists in their bomb factories and bust recruiting rings for al-Qe’ada. Italian police bust terrorist cells just last month – but nothing sets off bells in the American public’s collective mind.

This Republican President has done the best with what he was given, and he kept his promise to keep us safe and because of that, his party will lose votes in their elections this Fall. Of course, if there had been attacks with all of the blood and gore that the media craves, he’d probably lose votes, too.

Democrats want to keep us safe, too, they say. They also want to strip away the PATRIOT Act (which they all voted for), they want to release the terrorists in Guantanamo, they want to stop tracking phone calls from terrorists to people inside the United States, they want to stop killing terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq (which really has become a meatgrinder that processes and packs all of the sociopaths from throughout the world).

They want us to keep funding Hamas and they want to keep paying off Kim Jung Il, they’re scared of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s bluster so they’ll start paying him protection money soon enough. They will cave into Hugo Chavez (because he’s really no different than they are) and just to keep Communism alive, they’ll prop up Raul Castro. And, oh, how happy they’ll be if Daniel Ortega wins in Nicaragua again.

Just because there’s no real proof that this Republican Administration has kept us safe. And because it’d be uncomfortable to think otherwise.

  • Europe smoldering

AP is reporting that a Danish court threw out a lawsuit by Muslim organizations against Jyllands-Posten is response to their “evil” depictions of Mohammed last year.

No Pasaran! (via Powerline) has a localized view of the beginnings of riots in Paris last night on the anniversary of last year’s riots. Four buses were torched by gun-wielding “youths” (“youths” is apparently French for Muslims). It looks like Europe couldn’t insulate themselves well enough against Islamofacism.

I’m sure anger about the Danish courts and inaction of the French police will fuel even more riots tonight and through the weekend.

Also via Powerline is this story from Argentina which has decided to issue an arrest warrant for former Iranian president Hashemi Rafsanjani (and seven others) for his role in the planning and approval (apparently by the Iranian government) of the 1994 bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Buenas Aires.

Let’s just see if the Iranians’ new friend and fellow goat-roping aficianado, Hugo Chavez, has any influence over his South American (and oil-rich) neighbor.

  • Oh, this is rich…

The LA Times claims that there is a “crop” of Conservative Democrats running in 2006 mid-term election. Why are we suddenly hearing this now when Republicans are beginning to lead in the polls? Does the LA Times think that the rest of America believes that the LA Times knows what is Conservative?

And they name four whole candidates who are Blue Dogs. Since when is four a crop? If my dairy farming grandfather had four of anything, he wouldn’t call that a successful harvest, I’ll tell ya. They’d have five names if they hadn’t thrown Lieberman out of the boat.

Oh they name all kinds of Old Guard Hard-Leftists like Pelosi, Waxman and Rangel, but where are the names of this “crop” of Conservative Democrats?

Looks like the LA Times is telling us that if we’re feeling disaffected by the Republicans, there’s some leftists in wolf’s clothing we can vote for.

  • The difference between us and them

A 20-year-old Marine has pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping an Iraqi man – and he’ll be punished. Punished with a real prison sentence – not a couple years in Guantanamo with fancy rice dishes and all of the amenities terrorists have come to expect from US authorities. What Pfc. John J. Jodka III did was wrong – no equivocation about that. I’d have never tolerated that from my soldiers, nor would I expect my subordinate leaders to cover up murder and kidnapping.

But when will we any Arabs stand trial for their murders and kidnapping on the other side? Hell, Leftists in this country think Saddam Hussein shouldn’t be tried by his own victims, I can imagine the intellectually vacant defense they put up for insurgents being punished if caught by US forces. They even called what happened to Zarqawi murder.

So what’s the real difference between us and them? We’re consistent – people who senslessly murder innocent people are not worthy of living among us. And them…well…

  • I’m shocked…shocked, I tell you

This morning, the Washington Times is reporting that a Zogby International Poll has likely voters of Arab decent in Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania are trending Democrat in the 2006 election at a rate of 2-to-1.

This probably ranks right up there with yesterday’s poll that reported that men constantly think about sex. Did anyone ever think otherwise?

  • Withdrawal from Iraq

I’m reading that the US is expecting to hand over 100% of military and police ops to the Iraqis in 18 months. Although I don’t doubt it, I’m pretty sure that the Left, who is probably whooping and hollering that they’ve won isn’t going to like what has to happen in the next 18 months to secure Iraq’s peaceful transition. It’s going to take cross-border ops into Syria and Iran to stem the flow of incursions. Look for an expansion of the war in coming months.

When President Bush says something will happen, it will happen (not like his predecesor who promised us an exit from Bosnia in 1996) and the only way I see it happening is ending the interference from those two rogue nations (not “Nations of Concern”, Ms. Albright).

  • Two entertainers in a slap fight

So why is the news plastered with Rush Limbaugh vs. Michael J. Fox news? I like both of them. Fox entertained me through the 80s and Limbaugh entertained me through the 90s. Since I’ve changed careers twice since the 80s, I sadly, don’t have time for either anymore.

Fox is doing what he does best – playing a convincing role, and Limbaugh is doing what he does best – causing controversy. But why is it news at all? Even my local news was devoting way more time than it deserved. It’s not like either is running for office – they’re both supporting their respective candidates, but so close to the election, shouldn’t we be focused on issues rather than a clash of entertainment personalities?

But, I almost forgot – the Left doesn’t want us to look at issues, consequences and results. The intellectually vacant Left want us to focus on inconsequential minutae.  Minutae like two broadcast personalities arguing over the way one of them portrayed themself in a commercial.

Sister Toldjah did a much better job at look at the controversy than I could have done so please see her blog from Monday if you’re at all interested in the backstory.

But, I’d pay attention to this if there’s nothing else going on – kinda like if I ran across two transvestites having a slap fight on a street corner.

  • Reps lock up the ’06 election

How do I know? Well, John Murtha, the bloated idiot from Pennsyvania claimed, this weekend, that “The House of Representatives is going to turn Democratic, big time“. Murtha hasn’t been right about anything this year, so how could he be right about that?

And if he’s so confident in his own district, why won’t he debate his challenger Diana Irey? Could it be that he doesn’t want voters to see that he’s an intellectually vacant stumble bum on local issues (as well as National Security). The only public appearances Murtha has made in this campaign are on his turf, with his crowd, and it’s always a one-way conversation.

Why not? He’s a one note Charlie on National Defense for the last 30 years. Cut-and-Run Murtha is nothing if not consistent. How this sorry excuse for a human being can call himself a Marine, I’ll never know.
