Democrats urge economic stimulus package
Susan Lueck in the Wall Street Journal writes that Democrats are demanding an economic stimulus package;
“Hopefully, by the time we go to that meeting, everyone will be ready to come to terms,” said Ms. Pelosi, just before meeting with top House Republicans today. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland said it would be possible to get a stimulus package completed in the next 30 days.

A congressionally mandated panel yesterday recommended more than doubling the tax, which since 1993 has been set at 18.4 cents a gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents a gallon for diesel, over five years to boost funding for transportation projects. The panel of public and private experts is hoping that states also will opt for big gas-tax increases.

The Washington Times reports this morning that Hillary Clinton is losing support of Black in her bid for another eight years in the White House;
Black voters have been deeply loyal to the Democratic Party and to the Clintons, but they are more devoted to the dream of having a black president for the first time.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has been engaged in racially tinged political banter with Sen. Barack Obama since her win in New Hampshire, is losing ground in polls with black voters nationally and in South Carolina, where about half of Democratic primary voters will be black.

Yesterday, I read on Babalu Blog about the Code Pink Demonstration on Miami’s Calle Ocho Saturday afternoon. More interesting were the comments on that particular post on the delicacies involved in the Posada issue. Although the Left likes to paint with a broad bush, the discussion in that particular thread proves that the Cuban American community is not a homogeneous vote.
