I`ve been getting familiar with my own fathers campaign ribbons. I noticed that this Marine has the American Campaign medal with service star. I was under the impression that service stars for this ribbon were pretty much only awarded to Navy and Naval Armed Guard personell participating in specific Atlantic Convoy and anti- submarine operations…Could anyone elaborate on other criteria that might have made him, a South Pacific Marine eligible?
