This jerk lives near me and I saw in our local paper he had attended a Vietnam veterans ceremony of 50 years since the ending of the war. The paper noted his seven Purples Hearts which sent a red flag up for me, I am a Purple Heart recipient of the Vietnam war and had never heard of any GI who was awarded seven PH’s. I did a google check and found all this information. I called a retired Navy Master Chief and a retired Marine Sgt. Maj. I know and had them look this web sight up. I am a past commander of The American Legion and so are the other two veterans I mentioned. We are going to do our best to make sure Mr. Rather doesn’t try to hoodwink any other people with his phony hero stories. One Purple Heart and a Bronze Star you would seem be enough. One point on the Bronze Star. There were unit citation’s for the Bronze Star in Vietnam. For a Bronze Star to have been awarded in a combat situation it would be awarded with a V for valor. Without the V it could have been a unit citation given out to everybody in that unit. Could be awarded for good clerical work.
