So there’s this fire fighter guy who is lost in a New Mexico wildfire by the name of Token Adams. He is lost, but his mates weren’t worried about him because of his survival skills as a Navy SEAL;
Officials remain confident explaining Adams is well trained. The Coarsegold, CA native a former hotshot firefighter and Navy trained as a Seal [sic].
Well, they should really worry, because according to Don Shipley he was never a SEAL.
More Navy SEAL reportage;
Adams is originally from Coarsegold and graduated from Yosemite High School. He joined the Navy and was trained to be a Navy Seal.
I don’t know where anyone got the idea that he was a SEAL, but more than likely from Adams himself, although there’s nothing on his Facebook page. I intended to wait until Adams was was found so I’d seem like less of an asshole, but my inherent assholness overtook my common decency. Having said all of that, I hope they find him alive and well, but then he can stop the lie.
________________________________
UPDATED: Unfortunately, Token Adam was found dead yesterday. We join his family in their grief, as it appears that he was a brave and honorable father and husband as well as a firefighter. Unfortunately, we’ll never know who said that Adam was a SEAL, we can only authoritatively say that he is/was NOT a SEAL – which is pretty much all that we said from the beginning.

@49–oh, goody! Yeah, lemme jump on a plane to Santa Fe right fuckin now.
(sigh)
Jeremy Berg @49, Da’fuk kind of statement was that. Sure I work in an ER of a major hospital, damn I do enough to help my fellow human beings as is. The point is that the media is portraying him as a EX-NAVY SEAL stupid. Don Shipley, and the U.S. Navy Special Warfare Command says otherwhise.
#49 Jeremy Berg,
The Punctuation Secret Police called and stated that you are wanted for felony “……” abuse.
Sure, Jeremy. Just what the rescuers need is a bunch of old farts getting in the way! Most of the youngsters around here would like to help as much as us oldsters, but their employers might frown on the idea.
Meanwhile, if you happen to work with him and could share something substantive like, oh, maybe that the reporter screwed up, we might actually be able to help with that part.
‘K?
@49 Would it be impertinent of me to point out that you’re doing the same thing we are here, commenting?
I know he could not have been a seal by looking at his picture. What is he 15 or so? God, I am old.
#26, As being reported on fox news, no mention that he was a SEAL, http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/09/06/search-for-missing-firefighter-continues-in-new-mexico/ again, typical for this site to jump to conclusions and tarnish a name and reputation…once is enough, doesn’t matter how many phonies you expose. The guy has a pregnant wife too. Kinda sucks being the asshole blog owner and then you try and justify yourself #35, would be like saying he how are your legs doing? Prick
@57 Hey douche bag, maybe Fox checks their facts before they put any stories out, so go pound sand sock puppet.
@30&57, By the a$$wipe, what are the names of the three individuals that John has so called ruined?
@57 Pay attention:
http://www.kmjnow.com/09/03/13/Navy-Seal-Firefighter-Missing/landing.html?blockID=710423&feedID=806
Idiot
And he was just found dead, way to desecrate a valiant individuals name. douchebag #59, maybe #58 you should wait to jump on the fake poser wagon just because some other outlet said it or reported it, was it vetted? Names don’t need to mentioned your blog is barred in A-Stan and Iraq, no wonder….douchebag. Wishing you the worst of luck with the ALS fight
@61 While I understand your aggressiveness to a point, allow me to point yet another JOURNALIST failure:
http://www.koat.com/news/new-mexico/albuquerque/token-adams-found-dead/-/9153728/21820000/-/ftciydz/-/index.html
as you can see it clearly states:
“Adams moved to Jemez Springs about a year and a half ago. The former Navy SEAL had a wife, a child and one other baby on the way.”
Now all most ppl here say is “how this dudes got that?” I’m sorry he is dead, is always a tragedy and I hope his family can find peace, but again holy crap on this JOURNALISTS I mean if it’s THAT amazing and you are such a DOER, please feel free to paste here the email you have sent to this websites (please do also post the email headers, just make sure you BCC yourself or even CC, as I’m fairly decent with computers I can call BS on any fake email in a few minutes) and tell them how they are ruining this dudes reputation by calling him a navy SEAL when he wasn’t …
Gladly awaiting your ragefull comment ..
//LOTI
@61 What is at issue is where the press got the so called info to call him a SEAL, and why has none of his family or friends notified KMJNOW about this discrepancy.That is what this post was about. So go take your ALS and shove it sock puppet. Oh, by the way what are the names of the three individuals that John has supposedly ruined sock puppet?
My condolences to the family of this firefighter who was found dead and announced a few minutes ago.
@62 He won’t be back.
@64 Nope. Peace be with him, his friends and his family.
@64 I know he won’t but honestly my thick skin has been thinning because of some private life stuff going on, so while most of the time I find myself restraining still, well sometimes I let it rip, sorry I have a very low tolerance with stupidity.. 🙂
@ 61……where did you get the idea the blog is barred in the “Stan”?….I work in Kabul, and read the blog on a daily basis.
@67 he is probably a contractor under a nice websense, this blog is marked as “alternative journalism” thus blocked by default on websense policies…
@ 68..well, I am currently contracting in Kabul at Camp Phoenix….I have used both Sniperhill internet, and Stan Wi-Fi…no problems with blog access.
Was even able to get the blog on NIPR while in Iraq for a while.
@61
“Names don’t need to mentioned…”
Of course not, Tool, because you don’t have any names.
Sock Puppet
Bedwetter
You guys can quit raggin’ on this guy. He has been found, and unfortunately, he was the victim of an ATV accident.
http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/09/06/20364290-missing-new-mexico-firefighter-apparently-died-in-atv-crash-officials-say?lite>1=43001
Too bad this guy passed away, I will reserve judgement as of now, until it becomes clear where the SEAL claim originated.If it was a poorly researched news item the news agency needs slammed.
It could have been a co-worker or family member who assumed he was a SEAL or fabricated it.
Not to speak ill of the nearly departed but he could have started the word himself. He wouldn’t be the first one to pass away leaving behind a lie.
That being said I HOPE it was just an idiot reporter. Its bad enough for his wife, son and unborn child to lose him,it would be even more devastating for them to have been duped by him.
The grieving deserve respect and compassion, but there are plenty of family members and comrades of SEALS we’ve lost that deserve to not have their title hijacked.
No mention of any SEAL anything on the InciWeb death notice:
http://www.inciweb.org/incident/3720/
@73, Looks like Inciweb did a bit of homework, I’m really hoping that the other reports were just poor reporting/fact checking. The guy was one of the “good guys” who put their ass on the line as a firefighter. I hope he didn’t have feet of clay.
You guys, they found him dead. My daughter works with him and he NEVER claimed to be a seal. He was in the Navy. He was a good guy. The news locally reported erroneously. Its since been corrected . Please, his wife and child are devastated and this comes at close to the end of a terribly tragic fire season for many firefighters who lost their lives doing what they love, to protect and defend…
Please see this article from our local news here in New Mexico. Even as we speak they are carrying his body down the mountain, and kids like mine are are sweating and humping it and risking their lives to keep back the fire. Everyone on his crew and everyone in fire is devastated. You do a good thing to expose fraud, I grew up in the military, the daughter of a B52 pilot, and I respect your work, but please please investigate a little more thoroughly next time… thanks folks… God bless…
sorry, here it is…!
http://www.firefightingnews.com/article-us.cfm?articleID=105135
You see the screen shots, right? I’m not the one who needs to “investigate more thoroughly”.
No, the guilt business shouldn’t apply here. In fact, the original post had multiple qualifiers and no conclusion was drawn. This is neither (thank goodness) the MYT nor the Washington Times. It is a mil blog and much of it focuses on people who make false claims regarding military service. This man was reported to be a Navy SEAL and wasn’t. If that claim was concocted by the stiry’s writer, the writer ought to be summarily fired. Death doesn’t change the lie and NO ONE at TAH is pleased or indifferent to this man’s fate, or the plight of his wife, child, and unborn child. Good people die every day.
Sad. He never claimed to be a Seal. Yes, investigation and time is needed before the whole truth is known. We know him. That’s all that matters.
So, you’re saying that you have proof that he’s a SEAL? Because all I said is that he is not a SEAL. That’s the only thing I could be wrong about.
sarah: Please pass along our condolences to his family and coworkers. Many of us here in addition to having military service were or are in law enforcement or the fire service. We all grieve the loss of a brother.
In our experience with those who claim service or awards which they did not earn, invariably they are also committing some other criminal activity. On behalf of all veterans, we expose them when we can. We also expose reporters who fail to check their facts when reporting service and awards not earned. Their job is supposed to include checking facts before reporting. They need to be exposed when they fail to do that. They cause harm to people when they were too lazy to do their job properly.
The more news outlets who report his actual service correctly the more it looks like there may have been only once source of misinformation, and it was a so-called journalist. That “journalist” would owe everyone an apology if that is the source of the false report.
This entire topic has been trying to determine if he was the source of the incorrect information or if it came from the reporter or someone else entirely. We may now never know, but we will continue to look for the truth.
Thank you for your kind response, OWB. I will.
Sarah ….Sorry for your loss!
Jonn … Maybe scrub this?
Just a thought.
Or perhaps an update in the original post to say we have yet to verify the claims made in the press as to his SEAL claims and await further investigation before making any further comments as to their veracity.
Updated.
Shut the fuck up, Dewald.
Just a note to any family members of Token Adams who may drop in – the clown in #87 above is not representative of posters on this site. He or she obviously does not care how much pain he or she causes or to whom.
Our condolences to the family of Mr. Adams. And to the person/entity who claimed he was a SEAL? Fuck off.
There, Dewald, happy now? I hear TOR isn’t that secure anymore. You might want to try something else.
To Sarah and the family members of Token Adams, I, along with everyone else who has commented on this post HAS NOT accused Token of claiming to be a SEAL. What I, and others here question, is where did the MSM get the info that they published about Token and the article headlines claiming him to be a SEAL. As John Lilyea stated in this post that he himself could not find any evidence that Token himself made any claims to being a U.S. Navy SEAL.
As this matter stands, this is the fault of the so called journalist who did not do their jobs properly, and check their facts.
John Lilyea, would you so kindly eliminate the post of our little TROLL A-Stan Man and block his IP from posting here please.
@87 I see you nicely ignored my comment at #62, I wonder if A-Stan is REALLY coming from Afghanistan as he such implies …
@83 Sarah, I’m sorry for your loss please do give the family my condolences I wish I could do more than to just write it here and unfortunately i stopped believing in the afterlife a while ago, but I do keep a list of ppl I consider important to emulate and I would like to ask if I may ad his name to it, as I respect firefighters a lot, so please do let me know if the family wouldn’t mind, this lis is private BTW I just wake up everyday and read the names to remind me to give my best, all the time every time.
Thank you…
@94: Still waiting for you to identify the individuals you claim had their “lives ruined” by this site.
And you’re hardly “making sense” in your comments here. Rather, you’re coming off more like a jealous teen girl having a meltdown.
Grow up.
i know im an ass hole, as has been pointed out by many people, but how does this man’s death change the fact that he was incorrectly labeled as a SEAL? unless the editor just decided to throw that in on his own, which is highly unlikely, someone said it some where. i do not have issue with speaking ill of the dead, they are dead and dont care. Sarah, i dont know if ya have been here before or not, but we post obits of people that “take stolen valor to the grave”. if Mr Adams did tell someone he was a SEAL and that is how it got to the media, then there will not be any mercy for him due to his death.
@94, Don’t know what your comment was, but you will never get the last word in here, so just go way and stay away troll.
Gee whiz, A-stanman really is an ugly little troll with no brains and no agenda greater than telling everyone he’s an idiot.
Someone shove him back under the bridge where he belongs.
Somebody explain to me how it is possible for A-Stan boy to post an image. I know I’m old but I damn sure am not blind nor seeing things. And if I am, I better change brand of coffee real quick…
Streetsweeper,
I believe that the powers that be on TAH have updated A-Stan Man’s posts to better reflect his modus operandi, which, as the picture suggests, is a pissed of troll satisfying some need or want to make the internet know that he is right and everyone else is wrong.
