TAH Roll Call (Pinned)

TAH has a spirit of strong camaraderie among those who frequent here, both military and civilian. The diverse experiences and opinions that people share is invaluable. Over the years many have come and gone for one reason or another, however, there are many who have been here for years. Some visit hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or rarely. Whether by contributing, commenting, supporting financially or just lurking, your presence is welcome and appreciated.

With that said, we would like to conduct a TAH roll call. We encourage everyone to simply sound off and perhaps if you so choose, include a brief update of what you have been up to. We are especially interested in those that frequently commented in the past but have not in a while.

We look forward to your participation.

Thanks to Poetrooper for the suggestion.

    1. Thank you for the assistance. Wife and I live in Port St Joe and have numerous friends in the greater PC metro area. Lots of devastation.

  1. I know it’s not the weekend Open Thread, but FIRST!!!!!

    Update-Attending CGSOC (formerly known as ILE, formerly known as CGSC) through distance education. Attending classes once a month at BAMC in San Antonio. I HATE the Force Management modules and I’m procrastinating on writing my papers. For example, I have a paper on Clausewitz and Jomini due Saturday morning at 0800 that is not beyond the outline stage.

  2. OIF Marine Corps Veteran here. Been constantly lurking on your Stolen Valor pages. I’ve discovered individuals that made me sick to my stomach, and individuals that made me laugh with their attention seeking bullshit. Thanks for bringing these shit bags to light.

                1. We have clearance, Clarence.

                  Roger, Rodger.

                  What’s our vector, Victor?

                  Miss, can I help? I speak Jive.

  3. Is this accurate?
    Air Force = Roll Call
    Army = Formation
    Navy, Coast Guard & Marines = Muster

    Thank you so much for doing this ex-OS2!

    If I can add, we have been looking under the hood and it appears Jonn tried to do accounts for everybody as a user but we don’t recognize a lot of them. I think this strategy was abandoned when the readers and commentors grew by leaps and bounds.

    We would also be interested in how you characterize yourself – yes, yes, what you self-identify as.

    Regular posters are easy, we would really like to define the gray areas. You can have some fun with this by making up your own category.

    EXAMPLES:

    * Old Salt
    * New Salt
    * Sea Gull – Drop in, squawk a lot, shit on everything, fly off
    * Lurker – Remain in the shadows, but read
    * Cob Web – Active at one time but don’t post anymore
    * Spider Web – Lay in wait, pounce on something of interest
    * RGB – Read the briefs from at home, but doesn’t participate in arguments
    * Sockpuppet – So and so’s sock puppet. I only come out when needed, so don’t count me.
    * ETC

    A reliable rumor confirms that we have a case to post tomorrow of someone claiming to be a SEAL. Please consider maximum participation in this Roll Call post by ex-OS2 and in the SEAL post tomorrow with your characterization.

    If we can get the numbers up with maximum participation in these posts, maybe folks will stop in to see why there are 400+ comments.

    Look for the case post tomorrow coming through Dave Hardin.

      1. Aren’t all of us delusional…or is that deplorable? Maybe I should embrace the power of ‘and’.

    1. I vote “Present” and am currently on break, looking up tomorrow’s FGS. Will there be a TAH trifecta? Log in and find out.

  19. Here!

    Solid lurker here for the past 5 years.

    First place I go when I log on.

    Haven’t been much for leaving comments, but I do enjoy reading everyone’s thoughts. It’s like I know some users on here personally just from reading their musings over the past half-decade.

    …if there were something I would like to add to the overall conversations around here it’s this: I like things the way they are. I couldn’t stand to see changes in order to cater to the MSM types (even if the goal is validity of opinion.) IMHO, if someone reads some of the pointed & sometimes crude remarks on here & decides they don’t like it then I think we should all rejoice as they move elsewhere. Sure, there’s no need for personal attacks, but trying to rein in the black hole that is military thought process would be an attempt to bury the aspect of my service I hold dearest. That’s right, it’s not ribbons & metals in my shadow box or duty to country that I’ve held closest over the years since EAS, it’s the relationships I was privileged enough to forge during (& after with fellow vets) my service. Those relationships were 100% built upon a sick sense of humor and a level of love I’ve yet to display to any other humans other than those who were brewed up in my own set of balls. For those who don’t understand, I’m sorry you never will. I don’t use the term “safe space” but if I did, this would be mine.

    Carry on.

  20. Army Signal Corpse (Ret). Geezer (BPED 1 June ’63). Full time RV’er aka moving target. Visit TAH everyday but backed off on commenting much.

  21. I also exist. not as frequent a commenter as I used to be on here but I am frequently in and out.

  22. Lurker..retired navy, now “fed/gov”…wife, kid, dog, cat, house, we like honda’s, middle USA. Mostly read/post from work where I have more free time.

  23. I turned off my monitor and stared into the cold, dark blackness that remained but could make out my reflection.

    Therefore, I exist. I confirmed it.

  24. Present.

    Been spending way too much time in my Slammintonio Command Bunker stirring up hate and discontent with my new found obsession (twitter).

    Dammit. Winning again.
