Charlie Kirk shot

The 31-year-old conservative commentator best known for leading Turning Point USA and debating college kids on political topics has been shot. He was speaking at the Utah Valley University about two hours ago. He was kicking off his American Comeback Tour. He’d ironically just taken a question about mass shootings (specifically by transgender people) when a single shot rang out. He immediate slumped at the neck in his chair with a major splash of jugular blood shooting out.

Being a popular public speaker with a very savvy media presence (and an equally savvy fanbase and critics) this was recorded live from multiple angles. Videos are out there on Twitter/X, and other locations, but you don’t need to trouble yourself unless you like seeing disturbing gore. Most of us have seen enough of that to last a lifetime.

Word from his staff is that “it’s not looking good.” Kirk received prompt medical attention, so hopefully he survives. One thing’s for sure, he’ll never be the same.

One man, an elderly white male, was seen by witnesses being arrested. The police have said they have the suspected shooter in custody, so people have made the connection. Videos of this guy being carted off while telling the cops he has the right to remain silent are also out there. Dude looks like Bernie Sanders though. Read into that what you will.

Meanwhile, the left can’t take a moment to wait for information. An MSNBC guest just about 30 minutes ago speculated, “We don’t know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration.” Which I hope to hell is just a very, very poorly worded tone deaf commentary on breaking news not having a lot of information at this stage than it was a legitimate theory of how Kirk was shot (especially since it’s a college campus and probably a “gun free zone” where his supporters would not have come armed).

UPDATE ~1600hrs – They’re reporting he’s in critical condition at the hospital.

UPDATE ~1630hrs – Trump announces that Kirk has died, but I’m not seeing independent confirmation of that.

        The irony with his other comments is that they are true, it is just that he is the one with the awful thoughts and the awful words. That is the part he doesn’t get.

      1. From what I saw, I concluded his spine was struck. If he survived, he likely would have been a quad or paraplegic. I suspect he was shot from the second story of a building about 200 yards away, an easy shot with a scoped rifle.

      1. The governor spoke on TV, ended with a gentle reminder that Utah does believe in capital punishment and uses it.

            2. General population in prison for life, so who ever this shooter is can enjoy a daily pounding, for many years to come.

            4. The choices in Utah are the firing squad or the needle provided the drugs are available. The condemned still have the option of the firing squad, but hanging was eliminated in the last version of the death statute.

    I didn’t go out of my way to watch him; I probably heard Mark Dice criticize some of Kirk’s views almost as much as I’ve seen Kirk himself. But from what I did see of his work, he was a young man who had a gift for public debate and speaking, with whom I mostly agreed. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with him, he was a husband and father who was yanked away from his family far too soon.

    The left are doubtlessly celebrating his death, in between excusing the Charlotte murderer for his actions.

    Stay armed, trust no stranger, and be vigilant. If you’re “yt”, you’re a target. If you’re an outspoken Conservative and/or Trump supporter, you’re a greater target. I have a feeling these needless killings are just getting started. I’ll stay in my little bubble down in Bayou Country, where it’s never too hard to disappear (or be disappeared).

  28. I just heard that Charlie Kirk had applied to West Point but was not accepted. Does anyone know about this? I think with the head and maturity I believed he displayed he’d of made one hell of an officer. Maybe not so much company grade but definitely star bound.

    1. Yeah, back in 2012. He was a community college student so the odds of getting accepted weren’t great. He was already very politically active then.

    2. As I understand his background he dropped out of college because he observed, while he attended, colleges weren’t offering degrees in education but indoctrination.

      I think the reason for the way people on the right of center behave is because, by definition, we are raising families and have bills to pay.

    2. I think that the left truly believes that because violence is not the default setting for the right, we are passive and easily cowed. I also believe that the right is very capable of a level of violence that the left cannot begin to imagine. We exercise restraint. We do not want violence. But if they mean to have a war…

        1. Seeing how the last crew of ten they put together that tried to take down an ICE facility with rifle fire from across the street didn’t hit a thing until the police showed up to arrest them, I am surprisingly unworried.

    Second, Hack is familiar with Charlie Kirk videos posted on Facebook, and Hack never heard Charlie Kirk promote hate. His mission was to have an open debate with those who oppose him, exchange positions in a civil matter, and maybe someone will be swayed to other side. If they did not change their position, he did not condemn them. He allowed to opposing opinions at his gatherings, and he encouraged opposing positions to exchange dialogue in a civil manner. The Woke Left shuts down anyone who opposes them, and they do it through threats of violence and actual violence.

    After the Richard Jewel debacle in the Atlanta bombings years ago you would think the FBI might wait for the facts first.

    1. Nevermind. Threats were made against the academy and it went into lockdown. A jumpy midshipman on watch mistook authorized LEOs as the threat and engaged them. He was wounded as a result.
